Travel Portraits & My Outdoor Photography Client

Today, I'm getting photos for my outdoor photography client and shooting some travel portraits.
Instagram:
My Camera Gear:

I love working with clients on my travel photography projects. It gives me a challenge. But I especially love when one of my outdoor photography clients gives me total freedom to go out and create my style of work and make images that I normally make. I use my style and incorporate their brand, and it really works well, I think. It makes me a happy photographer, and means that my client is stoked with the work.
Today on the photography vlog, we're in Plettenburg Bay, South Africa and I have a bunch of photos that I need to make for a client. Luckily, it's the perfect place.
I start off the vlog along the coast of Plettenburg Bay taking some classic seascape photos. Then, in the afternoon, Jodie and I head into a park called Robberg Nature Rerserve where we head out on a hike looking for some more outdoor photography compositions. In the end, we made a bunch of images. We did some travel portraits with Jodie modelling, and we got a couple of the outdoor photography images I was hoping to make. At the end of the day, it was a very successful day of photography!

My Flip Flop Photography Hack

What makes a good photography hack? Resourcefulness. Today, here in Greece, I share one of my strangest photography hacks.
The flip flop photography hack is all about reducing light on the top part of an image. It's almost like working in the way a normal grad filter does.
In the example in this video, I'm shooting photography in Syros, Greece and run into an issue where I wish I had my grad ND filters. Essentially, I needed to drop 3 stops of light from the sky. So, in comes my photography hack. Like many photography hacks, this one doesn't always work. It needs a long exposure. But, to reduce 3 stops of light from the sky I can simply wave my flip flop over the top half of the image for the last 7 seconds of the 8 second exposure and it darkens the sky.
Clever, right?

Best Tulip Photos In Amsterdam - Moments In Time Ep 8

It’s tulip photo mania in the Netherlands and in this episode we fly to Amsterdam to explore and photograph some of the largest tulip fields in the world with local Dutch Photographer Albert Dros. Albert and I share some of our best photography techniques while shooting in endless rows of beautiful multi-colored flowers. I even have the opportunity to chat with a local tulip grower about the impact of tourism on the health of both the flowers themselves and the tulip and bulb trade industry. An epic sunset along the rows of tulips rounds out an awesome day.

Have you ever worn a Pikachu onesie? Well, it turns out that my friends and talented commercial photographers Richard Terborg and Adrian Sommeling had something devious planned for me when I decided to present them with a photography challenge in Amsterdam. Let’s just say that the results of me trying to be a model were hilarious, even without wearing the Pokemon costume.

In this Moments in Time series, we take a journey around the world together, and share about photography, travel, people, food, experiences, and everything that happens between the frames I capture. Join our Moments in Time Flickr community for access to two exclusive mini episodes, and new episodes will be published here on YouTube every Tuesday morning.

Shooting Medium Format Film in Morocco

Welcome to our Phlog, the series where we feature still photo's captured whilst exploring different parts of Europe.

Episode Thirteen marks the end of the series!

Fittingly, Jacob focuses on capturing the fishing port found in Essaouira (Morocco). Having documented similar scenes in Episode #8 (Romania) and Episode #10 (Spain), he attempts to add to his collection of medium format photographs by shooting on Fuji Pro 400h film with the Mamiya 645.

We hope you enjoy the shots!
