Places to visit in Tura (Garo Hills)
Shillong to Tura is about 300 km.
If you are travelling from Shillong to Tura There are two different routes - one via Guwahati & another is via Nongstoin.
In my experience Nongstoin route is much better. But on the Nongstoin route there are few food joints. So, do carry food with you.
You can stopover at Nogghnum and Mawphanlur when you are travelling from Shillong to Tura via Nongstoin.

Balphakram National Park
The deep gorges, extensive limestone formations, caves and the Balpakram plateau (regarded as a sacred place by the Garo tribes) are among the unique features.

We paid Rs 12000 for the To & Fro from Shillong to Garo Hills.
Vikram Taxi Driver: 9774641749, his strength lies in his comfort in speaking hindi and punjabi but does not have thorough knowledge of places outside Shillong.
Airport Services: just in case if you want to take a helicopter from Guwahati to Shillong or Guwahati to Shillong, below information will be of use.
Sometimes due to bad weather flight from Guwahati to Shillong gets delayed or cancelled, keep that in mind, plus as i am told by them at Guwahati airport that as of now there is not online booking process.

Meghalaya, the abode of clouds is located in northeastern India, and is known for its stunning natural beauty, rich culture, and diverse communities. It is a paradise for nature lovers and adventure seekers who don't mind going on long treks and water fall hunting.
The state is home to three major tribes/ districts - Khasi, Garo, and Jaintia - each with their unique customs, traditions, and festivals.
In this Vlog we will cover Khasi & Jaintia Hills and show you, how one can travel around and make the most of the first 2 days, when staying in Shillong.
The first day is usually spent in travel, where you take a cab from Guwahati, Assam airport and travel 3 hrs to Shillong. So from day 2, you can start your travel itinerary and explore all these places (depending on the season you are travelling in) which we showed in our vlog.
????Day 1:
- Arrive in Shillong and check into your hotel
- Our recommendation: Midhill Cottage (One of the best places to stay in Shillong. Located in a quite neighbourhood and away from the hustle and bustle of Police Bazaar)
????Day 2: Hire a cab!
- Do the extra mile by travelling to Krangshuri Falls, Phe Phe Falls, Shnongpdeng or Dawki. It will consume your whole day as these are in the extreme south of Meghalaya and very close to the Bangladesh Border.
- We prefer you take a cab, as roads are quite remote and night travel is not advisable.
- You can book: Mr Sonu (+91 70053 92046) He is highly reliable and will make your journey very pleasant with his stories and jokes. Charges vary : Rs 3,500 - Rs4,000 (depending on all what you cover)
????Day 3: Hire a Scotty/ bike!
- Visit the Elephant Falls and move to Mawphlang Sacred Forest as both can be covered on the same route and are close to the city.
-In the evening, travel to Latium Canyon for a refreshing evening and a breathtaking sunset. You don't want to miss this!!
- Explore Police Bazaar and do some shopping/ explore local food and get back to your stay place for some rest, as next day Cherrapunji awaits you!
- Getting a scoot is very easy in Police Bazaar, as many rental shops are available and you can hire a Scotty for a whole day at Rs 600 - 800.
