Taking a glimpse inside NORTH KOREA ???????? (surreal experience)
North Korea is one of the most closed countries on Earth for travel. After 3 years of complete isolation following the pandemic, it is still closed to this day. So, intrigued and hoping to get a glimpse of this fascinating nation, we travelled north from Seoul to the DMZ, the highly contentious border between North and South Korea, to learn more about life in both Korea's and how the two sides fell in to conflict in the first place and how it affects the daily lives of millions of Koreans on both sides to this day. We even managed to take a peek across the border, in to North Korea towards Pyongyang, over the town of Kaesong.

I Just Got Banned From North Korea
North Korea is the most isolated and interesting country in the world. I had the chance to visit Pyongyang for 3 nights, 4 days back in April 2017 - and shortly after I left, Americans became banned from visiting. To this day, I think that I'm one of the last dozen Americans to step foot in North Korea, and I'm glad that I'm here to tell the stories. In this video, I share 4 reasons why I will never go back to North Korea.

The Surreal and Very Real DMZ-Walking Into North Korea (With DMZ Facts/Figures)
My tour of the DMZ was perhaps the most surreal and fascinating part of my month long Asia trip. I took a USO tour through Koridoor Tours to Panmunjom, home of the JSA (Joint Security Area) in the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) at the border of South and North Korea. We were given a briefing by a U.S. military officer who gave us the history of the hostilities between the two countries and warned us not to gesture toward any North Korean soldiers should we see any. We could see the U.N Command soldiers, including some ROK (Republic of Korea) soldiers from South Korea. Some of them put half of their bodies behind the buildings to protect themselves in case they were fired upon from the North. We entered the MAC (Military Armistice Building) Conference Room where the two sides meet when they have talks. In the middle of the room is a conference table-half the table is in South Korea, half in North Korea. Once I passed that halfway point, I was standing in North Korea which I did for about 5 minutes-very surreal. When I got back to my hotel in Seoul, I heard on the radio that North Korea would attack South Korea in a few days and those threats continued for weeks.

WE VISITED THE NORTH KOREAN BORDER ???????? (DMZ Tour from Seoul)
In today's video we're heading into the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) between South and North Korea! It's a 4 km wide and 250 km long strip of land that serves as a buffer zone between North and South Korea. It is considered the most dangerous border in the world and we were able to (safely) witness it with our own eyes with a guided day tour from Seoul.

My incredible DMZ trip from Seoul! [4K] North Korea, Dora Observatory, 3. Tunnel of Aggression
I have always been interested in the Demilitarised Zone (DMZ) on the North and South Korean border. Not only because it is the most heavily guarded border on planet earth, but also because the DMZ the last remaining Cold War frontier that still exists as it did today. I was born after the end of the cold war, but I grew up in Germany, which is a country that also experienced division like Korea during the Cold War (you recall the Berlin Wall). Unlike Germany, Korea still remains divided today and is technically still at war.
As the US is focusing more and more on the Asian Pacific theatre over the 21st century, especially on China and Taiwan, the Korean peninsula will nonetheless remain a crucial geopolitical crossroads for world peace in the next decades. Also, the DMZ is the closest you can basically get to North Korea without actually crossing the border, which is pretty cool.
This video covers the ride to Paju (near Demilitarized Zone), Imjingak Park, the 3rd Tunnel of Aggression (an infamous infiltration tunnel), the Dora Observatory (Dorasan) and my concluding thoughts.

USO DMZ Tour into North Korea
The Seoul USO office leads a regular tour into the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) between North and South Korea. It enters the JSA (Joint Security Area), where you can enter the negotiating room between north and south and enter North Korea. DMZ Day Trip from Seoul Korea, TUNNEL 4: Visiting Demilitarized Zone
I visited Tunnel 4 of the Korean Demilitarized Zone known as the DMZ in January 2020. Corona Virus had just come on the radar but it was still not a pandemic and borders were open. The reason we could not visit the JSA was due to the Swine Flu outbreak that initiated in 2019.
We were able to look at the 38th parallel from the observation lookout but there wasn't really anything to see besides a sparse hillside. The most interesting aspect of this experience were the guards and the Ozone Box to decontaminate our bodies. It was a crazy experience! I hope to return and visit the blue houses at the JSA where you can actually step on North Korean soil.
