Wildlife in Costa Rica 4K

The Wildlife of Costa Rica comprises all naturally occurring animals, fungi and plants that reside in this Central American country. Costa Rica supports an enormous variety of wildlife, due in large part to its geographic position between the North and South American continents, its neotropical climate, and its wide variety of habitats. Costa Rica is home to more than 500,000 species, which represents nearly 4% of the total species estimated worldwide, making Costa Rica one of the 20 countries with the highest biodiversity in the world. Of these 500,000 species, a little more than 300,000 are insects.[ contact me :

Most of the species we observed are in decline, some are on watch lists or threatened, and a few are endangered and at risk of extinction. Photographs and descriptions of all species we photographed can be accessed in a separate website at:

About Costa Rica:
Costa Rica is renowned worldwide for its extraordinary biodiversity and stunning natural beauty, making it a haven for nature lovers and eco-tourism enthusiasts. Located in Central America, this small country is blessed with a remarkable array of ecosystems, including rainforests, cloud forests, beaches, wetlands, mangroves, and volcanic landscapes. The diversity of habitats fosters a rich variety of flora and fauna, making Costa Rica one of the most biodiverse regions on the planet.

Costa Rica's commitment to conservation is reflected in its extensive system of protected areas, which cover around 25% of the country's total land area. These protected areas comprise national parks, wildlife refuges, biological reserves, and more. Corcovado National Park, Tortuguero National Park, and Manuel Antonio National Park are just a few examples of the country's pristine nature reserves that offer exceptional opportunities for exploration and wildlife observation.

The country's rainforests are especially captivating, teeming with a kaleidoscope of vibrant plant life, including towering trees, orchids, bromeliads, and countless other species. These lush habitats are home to an astonishing array of animals, such as howler monkeys, sloths, toucans, poison dart frogs, and jaguars. Costa Rica is also renowned for its sea turtles, and several beaches along its coast serve as nesting grounds for these magnificent creatures.

In addition to its terrestrial wonders, Costa Rica boasts an impressive marine ecosystem. The country is bordered by both the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean, providing ample opportunities for snorkeling, scuba diving, and exploring vibrant coral reefs. Cocos Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located about 550 kilometers off the Pacific coast, is a haven for divers, featuring an abundance of marine life, including sharks, manta rays, and dolphins.

Costa Rica's commitment to sustainable practices and ecotourism has led to the development of numerous eco-lodges, nature reserves, and adventure tourism activities. Visitors can engage in activities such as canopy tours, hiking, zip-lining, white-water rafting, and birdwatching, all while minimizing their impact on the environment.

In summary, Costa Rica's nature is a treasure trove of awe-inspiring landscapes, diverse ecosystems, and fascinating wildlife. Whether exploring the dense rainforests, relaxing on pristine beaches, or diving into the crystal-clear waters, the country offers an immersive and unforgettable experience for those seeking to connect with nature in all its glory.

Wildlife In Costa Rica

Today's question is what's the best wildlife I can see in Costa Rica? Almost 35% of Costa Rica is protected in National Park Wildlife reserves. Basically, we have so much that you can enjoy while exploring our nature.

For example, you're going to be able to see monkeys, different species of monkeys, you'll see the beautiful sloth, which is one of my favorites. It's a fantastic and beautiful animal.

For more wildlife in Costa Rica, you can see whales when we have the season between January and April. That is the peak season for whale watching here in Costa Rica.

You can see dolphins, as well as turtle's nesting all over the country.
If you are a bird watcher, Costa Rica is quite a paradise as well. We have so many species like the quetzal that you can enjoy while you're exploring the wildlife here in Costa Rica.
