30 Things to do in MACAU | Ultimate Macau Travel Guide

This is my ultimate travel guide for Macau - the gambling capital of Asia including 30 secrets and best places to visit which I carefully selected, things to do in Macau like world's highest urban bungee jump, Eduardo Marques Square, best Portuguese egg tarts, pork chop buns, historical villages of Taipa and Coloane, quality Portuguese cuisine at Dragon & Porto, Venetian Macau (World's biggest casino) and the best Macau bars & nightclubs. Macau is perhaps one of the most unique nations I've ever visited. Who would have thought that Portugal had an entire colony for almost 500 years in China. What makes Macau even more authentic is how well preserved the colonial buildings are, given you a real authentic experience of how life must have been like in the past centuries.

Special thanks to my friend Emily for showing me Taipa & Cotai

The easiest way to reach Macau is by TurboJET ferry from Hong Kong for just $171 HK dollars or $22 US dollars for a one-way. Do bring your passport because you will have to go through immigration! Once in Macau jump into a taxi towards your hotel or Airbnb ($47 USD OFF) but keep in mind that most taxi's in Macau do not have seat-belts.

Macau is a great place for new and unique selfies, my favorite place being this incredible shot taken from R. Nova a Guia street. It took me almost an hour to find this secret site for that magical selfie. It is a perfect blend of new and old, like a giant spaceship just crash landed into a tiny Portoguese village.

Macau does offer an incredible fusion cuisine of Chinese and Portuguese called Macanese! With popular dishes like African chicken, Pork chop buns, Pork Jerky, Portuguese egg tarts (Pastel de Nata and plenty of desserts including durian ice cream and steam milk pudding from Yee Shun Milk.

The most popular tourist attractions in Macau include the Ruins of St. Paul's of which only the front facade is still standing after 3x major fires and Senado Square for its beautiful Portuguese-style cobble stone roads. Do not miss visiting other gems like Monte Fort, Museum of Macau and the villages of Taipa and Coloane for an authentic Portuguese colonial experience.

Macau's nightlife may be small but does have a few fantastic places for a night out, I recommend to start off the night at SKY 21, a gorgeous rooftop lounge on top of the AIA tower overlooking the Grand Lisboa and Macau Tower, they often have a live DJ, ping-pong and shisha's for a fun evening and is open until 4am.

My favorite experience in Macau was the Macau Bungee, World's highest urban bungee jump at 233 meters or 764 feet with a 6 or 7 second free-fall with a speed of 120km/h, click here for my full Macau Bungee experience. The bungee jump is pricey, roughly $400 US dollars, they also offer a Sky Jump, Sky Walk and Tower Climb for the true thrillseekers.

In conclusion, Macau truly surprised me, especially after staying here for 6 days. Most tourists make a day trip from Hong Kong but that is simply too short to do this nation justice. I recommend visiting Macau for 2 days and 2 nights to truly take in this unique former Portuguese colony and all its beauty.

30 Things to do in Hong Kong | Hong Kong Travel Guide

This is my ultimate Hong Kong travel guide including 30 things to do, secrets, best foods to eat and best places to visit which I carefully selected, like Michelin star Dim Sum at Tim Ho Wan, Hing Kee clay-pot rice dises, secret Lugard Street, Lan Fong Yuen Hong Kong tea, Yum Cha, Roasted Pigeon, Yik Cheong Building, Symphony of Lights and the vibrant Hong Kong Nightlife at LKF. Hong Kong may appear to be massive when you look at photos of its skyline but trust me it is conveniently packed and can be easily explored within 2 days. I recommend you start Hong Kong at the Victoria Peak which offers amazing views of the Hong Kong island skyline, but avoid paying $7 USD for the Skyterrace, instead take a 15-minute hike on the secret Lugard Road which leads to the best view of Hong Kong.

Great attractions on Hong Kong island are the Yik Cheong building at Quarry Bay, easily reachable by subway and Oddies, Hong Kong style egg-waffles in the Central district.

Other typical places to visit are Lan Fong Yuen, for their special Hong Kong tea ($3 USD), filtered to actual stockings, leaving no residue. Also try their buns seared with condensed milk.

The most bizarre dish I must have eaten was the wild pigeon at Kwan Yu Roasted Meats in Causeway Bay, an entire roasted pigeon for $6 USD with a cup of extremely strong tea. A meal for champions to say the least.

For a more delightful dinner, venture out to Yung Kee Restaurant for their Signature Charcoal Roasted Goose for $35 USD. Crispy goose skin covered juicy goose meat, a true local delicacy.

Hong Kong also offers very fun restaurants and great for food photography, especially Yum Cha, for their cute dim sum steamer baskets containing piggy pork buns, pineapple bird cakes in a cage and funky molten custard buns. Make sure to poke a hole for the hot custard to ooze out of its mouth. I even ran into a few Reformatt subscribers from Japan and Hong Kong who were also dining at the same restaurant.

Find the cheapest hotels in Hong Kong:

Another bizarre restaurant is Hoi Tin Tong where you can try out the local turtle jelly which apparently cures you from a hangover. Although pricey, at $15 USD you may expect a lot, but it is very blend until you pour some honey into the mix. Their best treat is the almond pudding, this was beyond delicious for just $2 USD.

The BEST Hong Kong dim sum can be experience at Michelin-star restaurant Tim Ho Wan, for extremely cheap prices, Shumai at $4 USD, Har Gow at $4 USD and BBQ pork buns at $3 USD, basically $1 USD per item. Absolutely ridiculously cheap for Michelin rated food. Arrive before 5pm to avoid any line-ups.

In conclusion, I have to say that Hong Kong is one of the coolest cities I've ever been to, but you must remember, Hong Kong is a pure business city, the locals can be very rushed and occupied. Hong Kong never really focused on being a hardcore tourist destination so keep that in mind. This itinerary is ideal for 2 days in Hong Kong, everything is within proximity, so you won't spent too much time travelling around.

10 BEST FOODS to eat in Hong Kong (and exactly WHERE to get them) | THE CLASSIC HONG KONG FOOD TOUR

WELCOME TO HONG KONG!
Whether you're just coming to visit, or you've just moved to Hong Kong or you're moving out of Hong Kong and want to make sure you haven't left any stones unturned before you leave, this is the tour! This is what you have to eat in Hong Kong before leaving! The MUST EATS of Hong Kong. These are the most classic, well known, and famous Hong Kong dishes and foods. Make sure to try out these foods at their most famous restaurants respectively to really get in the ultimate Hong Kong food experience.

All these restaurants are super well known so don't worry if they look off the beaten path because they're not. Also, whoever tells you these places are hidden gems are clearly lying to you LOL English menus are available at all these places with the exception of Joy Hing so don't worry. This Hong Kong food tour is meant for you to do it yourself so it shouldn't be intimidating. This food tour is also within a small area (the more touristy areas of Hong Kong) so you'll be able to do it within a few hours though I would recommend you spilt it up before two days as there is quite a bit of food.

Once you've done this, come back and we'll go through the more hidden gems of Hong Kong but start here first so you get a basic food foundation of the flavours of Hong Kong. =) If you go straight to the hidden gems without a base, you'll won't really understand why those are hidden gems, if that makes sense.

EDIT: Just doing my tour guide training and there's a correction. Cookie crust arrived in Hong Kong in the 1940's and puff pastry in the 1950's.

30 Things to do in OSAKA | Osaka, Japan Travel Guide

This is my ultimate Osaka travel guide! Osaka is the kitchen of Japan, this video includes 30 secrets and best places to visit which I carefully selected, things to do in Osaka like Endo Sushi, Mr. Kanso, USJ, Takoyaki Museum, the best Kushikatsu, the best Okonomiyaki experience, Abeno Harukas and where to party in the Osaka Nightlife in Shinsaibashi. A good place to start in Osaka is Amerikamura, the funky hipster district commonly compared to Tokyo's Harajuku district with wacky shops like the Panbo Pancake Kebab shop, which makes for a delicious breakfast. Also bring you camera since this area is great for street photography and youth fashion.

Buy Now - Osaka Pub Crawl tickets:
($21 USD, 5% discount)

Buy Now - Backstreet Osaka Tour tickets:
($55 USD, 5% discount)

The most iconic place in Osaka is by far Osaka Castle. I highly recommend you make your way to the top floor in castle for some stunning views of Osaka and getting an idea how the ancient warlords used to live. Osaka Castle played a major role in the unification of japan during the sixteenth century.

If time permits, checkout Japan's biggest aquarium in Osaka called Kaiyukan which includes the great barrier reef collection and is about a 2 kilometer walk through the aquarium. I have never seen such a massive indoor fish tank in my life. Entrance sets you back 2300 yen or 21 US dollars since the aquarium is west of downtown Osaka it is a great idea to combine it with a visit to Endo Sushi, Osaka's best sushi located at the Osaka Fish Market, a sushi experience you will not regret!

Buy Now - Japan Rail Pass (7, 14 or 21 days)

► best purchase when travelling around Japan

Osaka like Tokyo is also known for having outrageous shops like the Longsoftcream, the longest ice cream in Japan for 500 yen or 4.75 US dollars this shop is located in Amerikamura, a place to meet really friendly and cool locals.

For the most mesmerizing views of Osaka head over to the Harukas 300 observatory deck at the Abeno Harukas building just east of Shinsekai. Entrance is 1500 yen or 14 US dollars, I do recommend you visit in the evening so you can see the sunset and night view of this incredible city with all it's blinking lights on its sky scrapers.

Buy Now - Abeno Harukas Observatory Tickets:
($10 USD, 10% discount)

Like most tourists, a visit to the Dotonbori district is a must! Dotonbori includes the famous canal cruises, magnificent restaurants with crazy decorations and mouth-watering street foods like the Giant Japanese Scallops, Takoyaki and the massive Dotonbori Sandwich complete with Gyozas, Yakisoba and a ton of sauce.

In conclusion, I am often sad to hear that new visitors to Japan often skip Osaka for Tokyo and Kyoto, but I hope to have convinced you with this new travel guide to give Osaka a change as well. It is for good reason Osaka is called the kitchen of Japan.

Avoid These SCAMS When Traveling to Stockholm, Sweden

Stockholm is the 12th safest city in the world, but that doesn't mean that there aren't things to watch out for. In this video I tell you about scams to avoid when you're visiting the capital of Sweden!

You're not going to find a huge list of scams to watch out for, but that also means that you might be lulled into thinking that everything is safe in Stockholm. You always have to use common sense, keep an eye out for things that look out of place, and keep an eye on your belongings.

In this video I cover the following topics, among others:

- Taxi scams that unfortunately are completely legal in Sweden
- ATM credit card sniffing
- Pickpocketing and what to look out for in bars in general
- Illegal games on the street corners of Old Town (Gamla stan)
- Overpriced shops and restaurants
- The picture taking scam
- Scams within the housing market in Stockholm

I also discuss a bit of a sensitive topic, when it comes to the beggars that have become quite prevalent in Sweden lately.

But I also take some time to go through things that are sometimes listed as scams online, that absolutely should not be classified as scams. These include, for example, the Vasa musem, the Arlanda Express train and Gröna lund, a boardwalk amusement park.

Stay safe so you can make sure you enjoy the lovely city of Stockholm!

For this flight I chose Delta Airlines, which has the some of the most affordable flights to Punta Cana.

TAIPEI, TAIWAN - Taiwan is extremely famous for their night market street food culture, and so tonight we’re eating our way through Nanjichang Night Market (南機場夜市) - a lesser known, yet extremely popular local night market. If you want an off the beaten path, guaranteed delicious Taiwanese food experience, this is a great Taipei night market to visit.

One of the greatest things about Nanjichang Night Market (南機場夜市) is that it’s not only a night market, but it’s open throughout the day and you’ll find different food available depending on the time of the day. Additionally, about 3 or 4 different stalls at this market have been featured in the Michelin Guide Taiwan.

Here’s everything I ate:

Sticky Rice Restaurant 曉迪筒仔米糕:
Total price - 290 TWD ($9.57)

Fried Oyster Ball 好佳蚵嗲:
Total price - 160 TWD ($5.29)

Smelly Tofu Boss (臭老闆現蒸臭豆腐-本店):
Total price - 135 TWD ($4.46)

Unnamed Clay Oven Rolls (無名手推車燒餅):
Price - 15 TWD ($0.50) per piece

A Nan Sesame Oil Chicken (阿男麻油雞):
Price - 215 TWD ($7.11)

Taiwanese Burrito at Wu Wang Tsai Chi (吾旺再季 潤餅捲專賣(原松青潤餅):
Price - 60 TWD ($1.98)

Highly recommended for an off the beaten path Taiwan street food night market in Taipei.

Macau night life is amazing. Whether you are in Taipa/Cotai or in Old City Macau, travelling is easier from a casino to casino by the convenient FREE shuttle service to and from Macau ferry terminals. Senado Square at night is magical place surrounded by old Portuguese buildings and great traditional Portuguese restaurants. It is a must to visit Grand Lisoboa/Lisboa, MGM in Macau city; Galaxy Macau, The Venetian and City of Dreams in Taipa/Cotai to see beautiful night lights.
