3 days in North Korea (myths and legends, DPRK vlog, mass games, pyongyang)

x

We had to LIE to make this video! (myths and legends, DPRK vlog, mass games, North Korea)

THIS VIDEO SHOWS ONLY ONLY ONLY WHAT YOU CAN SEE ON A NORMAL TOURIST TOUR IN PYONGYANG!!!

BEFORE leaving aggressive comments, please WATCH the DISCLAIMER:

This video is NOT meant to be a propaganda for the actual regime of the DPRK.
We are NOT communists, nor journalists, we don't make politics and we just show what a normal tourist can see there!!
Due to the contracts we had to sign we could NOT tell anything about the bad things anyone of you might think happen in this country. Which, even if it might be true, we obviously could not see and therefore confirm.

PLEASE RESTRAIN YOURSELF FROM leaving incriminating comments or accusing us of anything!! DPRK is a heavily controlled country and one can not film or go anywhere he wants. This is all what we could and were allowed to film.

Thank you for watching and respecting our work!

ROMANIAN version here:

3 days in North Korea (myths and legends, DPRK vlog, mass games, pyongyang)

Our vlog is not sponored by any government or company.

This movie is just our trip in the DPRK in october 2018, without any intention of supporting or fighting against any regime.

Unfortunately, due to some technical problems, we lost aprox 65% of everything we filmed in the DPRK. From what we could save, from what we had additionally filmed with our phones and from what the other members of the group send us (a big thank to Gwen, Enrique, Chris...) we managed to make this movie.

This is the reason for the low video quality in some parts of the vlog. The other reason is because in North Korea you are not allowed to bring professional video gear like big cameras, stabilisers or drones.

The company we have been with (and can highly recommend): Young Pioneer Tours YPT

Filmed with:

Sony A6500 + OSS 10-15 si OSS 18-105
Iphone XS max
Samsung Galaxy S9+
GoPro Hero6

???? The Strange Land of North Korea (DPRK) ????

⛄ NORTHEAST PASSAGE ON ICEBREAKER ???? -
This is a film about a traveller in the strange land called North Korea or officially the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

Tours to the DPRK are tightly scheduled and normally include a visit to the demilitarised zone, museums and statues to Kim Il-Sung and Kim Jong-Il, Pyongyang’s amusements parks, chandelier-laden metro system and showcase entertainment facilities such as the Circus and the SchoolChildren's Palace. In addition to these, I took a flightseeing flight on a Mi-17 helicopter over the DPRK's capital city of Pyongyang. As well, as my tour was an extended one, it also went the northeast of the DPRK to the tri-country area around the Rason Special Economic Zone where the DPRK, China and Russia conjoin.

The cult of the Kims is perhaps the most extraordinary feature of the DPRK. Images or statues of Kim Il-Sung and Kim Jong-Il are found everywhere. These graven images are effectively worshipped. This film shows scenes of the veneration of the Kims (Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il) that were witnessed.

The government guides control both what you can see and also what you can take photographs of. If you take a photograph of the military, construction or something that they feel does not portray the DPRK in a positive light then they force you to delete the photograph. On exiting the country, the border guards also reviewed photographs to see if they conformed to the aforementioned standards. Despite these restrictions, this film contains images that accurately portray the state of the country as I saw it.

My LIFE in NORTH KOREA - a TRIP to PYONGYANG!

North Korea has been on my list for years and finally I made it. This short VLOG should give you a little impression of what it is like to travel to the DPRK or better known as North Korea.

I went on a 3-days tour starting in Dandong, China. I went with Young Pioneer Tours and it was an incredible experience.

I don't have an opinion on whether it was staged or not, whether they are bad or good, or how I feel about the whole trip. I went to the DPRK as a tourist and for a cultural exchange. From human to human, without a political agenda.

North Korea (disclaimer) WHAT we could NOT show in our documentary vlog! lies, truth, propaganda

#dprk #northkorea #pyongyang #kim #truth #lies

North Korea (part 2, disclaimer): WHAT and WHY we could NOT show in our vlog! lies, truth, propaganda, documentary. Did we have to lie? Is there anything real in our video? Why have we been so happy to be there? What is fake? How is the real life? What about all the news we hear? Of course, tourists can't see the labor camps, but can you hear something about them? And what abot Otto Warmbier's sad story?

My Daily Life In NORTH KOREA (MYSTERIOUS 7 DAY TRIP)

UPDATE - one year after visiting North Korea I traveled to South Korea and made a video comparing my experiences in both of these two countries. Watch it here: also, if you're thinking of traveling to North Korea yourself, watch this video to see why that might not be a good idea: and think twice before making that decision. Lastly, if you want to learn more about the history of North Korea (in just 4 mins), watch this:

I've always been very interested in North Korea because it seemed to be one of the most unique and mysterious countries in the whole world. This is my day to day life throughout the 7 days that I spent in North Korea. You can never be sure whether things were staged or not in North Korea because you are only shown what they want you to see. You can't choose where or when you will be going to specific places, they simply tell you to hop on a bus and ask you to get off at one point or another.

That is why I didn't want to offer my opinion about whether things were staged or not, whether they were good or not, or honest or not. My goal was to show you what my day to day life looked like when I was there and let you make up your own mind and judge for yourself.

Do not judge North Korea only from what you see in this video. This is what they showed us and there's a reason they show some things and not show the others. Also, knowing how much control they exercise over the population, everything could have been staged only for us.

My favorite books about North Korea:

Dear Leader by Jang Jin Sung -
Escape From Camp 14 by Blaine Harden -
Nothing To Envy by Barbara Demick -
1984 by George Orwell (I couldn't believe how similar some things in North Korea looked to the ones in the book) -

Surreal and WEIRD! Travel in NORTH KOREA ???????? [vlog #2]

Part 2 of 3...We toured some more of Pyongyang, got to experience International Children's Day where we had the chance to interact a little more with the North Koreans – plus a slightly strange experience at a farm, an unusual tour edition (visiting a leisure centre) and finishing up at a ‘local’ brewery where it seemed that absolutely no locals drank!
.
This year I spent 5 days in NORTH KOREA, officially known as The DPRK (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) and it was a fascinating and surreal insight into the world’s most isolated country.

We booked onto a tour (the only way tourists can visit North Korea) and set off on a journey that would cover Pyongyang, parts of the countryside and the DMZ border with South Korea.

I'm well aware that we were only shown what they wanted us to see, we had guides with us at all times and weren't allowed to venture off on our own, so these videos are what you'll see as a tourist visiting North Korea. Hopefully I've managed to capture some things you might not have seen before!

North Korea - 5 Days in the DPRK (Part 2)

More about North Korea Tourism (from Wiki):

Tourism in North Korea is tightly controlled by the North Korean government. Only about 4,000 to 6,000 Western tourists visit North Korea each year. All tourism is organized by one of several state-owned tourism bureaus, including Korea International Travel Company (KITC), Korean International Sports Travel Company (KISTC), Korean International Taekwondo Tourism Company (KITTC) and Korean International Youth Travel Company (KIYTC).

Interactions between foreign tourists and local people have historically been tightly controlled. However, from photos seen around the Internet and evidence from travelers to North Korea, those restrictions seem to have relaxed slightly in the past few years.

The Swedish diplomatic mission to North Korea emphasizes that disrespect against the North Korean nation, its leaders and its symbols are regarded by North Korean authorities as very offensive. The tolerance level for disruptive behavior is minimal and as such can lead to imprisonment and torture.

Since September 1, 2017, the United States Department of State has prohibited the use of U.S. passports for travel to North Korea, arguing that U.S. citizens have been subject to arrest and long-term detention for actions that would not otherwise be a cause for arrest in the United States or other countries.

The U.S. Department of State also states that it has received reports of North Korean authorities detaining U.S. citizens without charges and not allowing them to depart the country. North Korea has detained U.S. citizens who were part of organized tours.

North Korea (part 1) - Travel North Korea - Episode 3 - North Korea Vlog

My adventures this time take me to North Korea for four days. I met a fellow traveler in Jilin Province, China that hooked me up with a Chinese travel agency that arranges trips to North Korea. They will only show you the best parts of North Korea and I was only allowed to film and take pictures when they told me to. This was my experience.

Inside the DPRK - 4 days in North Korea

The DPRK (North Korea) is well known for being one of the most politically closed countries in the world. This video does not seek to endorse the DPRK government or political system. It is merely a reflection of my experiences on an organised tour.

A visit to the DPRK will guarantee you many surprises and fascinating experiences. The people are warm and friendly and as long as you follow local customs and laws your trip will be safer than many other global destinations.

I booked a 4 day trip with a Chinese based tour operator - travelling in a small group of around 15 people. The trip gave me a good overview of the DPRK, although I know there is so much more to see. The highlight was definitely the Arirang Mass Games spectacular.

Please feel free to ask me questions about my experiences and I will try and answer you as quickly and honestly as I can.
