24 Hours in Seoul, South Korea — What to Do, See, Eat for First-timers! | The Travel Intern

If it's your first time in Seoul, South Korea, then be sure to check all these places off your list with our visual guide! Don't worry, it's definitely doable ;-)

00:16 - SMTOWN Theatre
Catch a super realistic hologram musical of your favourite Kpop idols. It was basically our favourite highlight of the 24-hour pass!

00:27 - Tosokchon Samgyetang
Probably Seoul's most famous Samgyetang store. Samgyetang, meaning ginseng chicken soup, is a must-try when you're in Korea. The queue might be daunting, but it moves really quickly because the store can house 420 customers.

00:32 - Gyeongbokgung Palace
The Royal Guard Changing Ceremony is held twice a day, and in close proximity to Tosokchon Samgyetang!

00:39 - Museum Kimchikan
Get to don on a traditional Hanbok here, while you learn about Kimchi and its origin. The best part — you get to sample different kinds of kimchi in their tasting room! Super yummy. Also, sign up for a kimchi-making workshop that is subject to availability!

00:55 - Grevin Museum
Get to meet your favourite celebrities in the flesh! ... Or maybe not?

01:08 - N Seoul Tower
Apart from the breathtaking panoramic view of Seoul you get on the top of N Seoul Tower, couples often come here to lock their love down, literally.

01:16 - Palshik Samgyupsal
Try the 8-marinate samgyupsal set. 'Nuff said.

01:27 - Dragon Hill Spa
What better way to unwind through the night than to soak your fatigued limbs in hot spas at Dragon Hill Spa. Get to watch performances, play arcade games and enjoy authentic Korean finger food while relaxing.

what i eat in a day (in seoul)

The sort of sequel to the first 24 hour Korean food adventure a while back, but this time, we're in South Korea! It's not everyday that I get to grocery shop at a massive Korean superstore, so I... bought a lot, $150 worth of groceries? And spent an entire day making some of my favorite Korean foods - we're talking street toast, ddeokbokki (spicy rice cakes), and... a very special remake of the ramen from Parasite.

It’s our first time visiting South Korea, so which better place to start than in the vibrant capital city of Seoul!? After spending a few days in the exciting, busy, and inviting metropolis of South Korea, it was time to explore the calmer, more serene and culturally significant area of Bukchon Hanok Village in Seoul.

Although not necessarily a tourist attraction, this residential area is over 600 years old and has some of the most stunning architecture. Ranging from classic hanoks to newly refurbished ones. Lucky for us, we managed to book a stay in a recently refurbished hanok right in the heart of Bukchon Hanok Village, which is now a luxurious hotel for visitors to enjoy and experience the old style of living (with modern amenities, of course).

From the food, the surroundings, and even down to the outfits - we absolutely loved this experience in South Korea and we hope you do too!

Today, we find ourselves in the vibrant city of Seoul, where adventure awaits at every turn. Join us as we delve into the heart of this bustling metropolis and discover the hidden gems it has to offer.

Fist stop is the amazing Gyeongbokgung Palace which has a changing of the guards ceremony occurring at 2pm almost daily (check the schedule before going) and it lasts only a couple minutes so make sure to be there early so you can take pictures, and catch it. After this, you can stroll through the nearby area to see the incredible ancient village that is out side the palace walls called Bukchon

This captivating spectacle, deeply rooted in tradition, offers a glimpse into Korea's royal heritage and is a must-see experience for any visitor to the vibrant city of Seoul. Clad in vibrant traditional attire, the guards march with precision and grace, creating an awe-inspiring display of synchronized movements. The rhythmic beats of the drums fill the air as the colorful flags flutter in harmony, transporting you to a bygone era of regal splendor. This enchanting ceremony not only showcases the seamless transition of power but also serves as a vivid reminder of the rich cultural tapestry that defines Seoul. So, immerse yourself in the grandeur of Gyeongbokgung Palace and let the Changing of the Guards ceremony ignite your imagination and deepen your appreciation for the captivating heritage of this remarkable city..

Stepping into the village feels like stepping into a dreamscape, where ancient hanok houses stand proudly, preserving the rich heritage of South Korea. It's here that we stumble upon a true gem, Cha-Teul, a mystical tea house that exudes history and charm.

As we enter Cha-Teul, we are immediately enchanted by its rustic charm and warm atmosphere. The tantalizing aroma of delicious food and fragrant teas fills the air, enticing us to indulge in the unique flavors of this historic gem. Our taste buds are treated to a delightful combination of a dried tangerine orange infused with honey, an exquisite Jeju Island tangerine tea fit for royalty, and a delectable steamed pumpkin mochi cake. To refresh ourselves, we savor the refreshing iced flower tea, a perfect accompaniment to the rainy day.

While the rain adds a certain allure to the village, we highly recommend visiting Bukchon Hanok Village on a sunny day to fully appreciate its beauty. Take a leisurely stroll through its ancient streets, adorned with traditional hanok houses and captivating architecture. Immerse yourself in the rich history and culture of Seoul as you explore the nearby palaces and capture timeless moments by dressing up in traditional hanok attire.

ABOUT US:
We’re traveling full time, living on our own terms and showing you the up-close-and-personal details of us figuring it out along the way. Sometimes it’s about navigating big, life-altering decisions. Sometimes it’s about navigating the seemingly lawless free-for-all that is driving in Hanoi. It’s moments of triumph and moments of panic. The good, the bad, the ugly – and most importantly, the real and real funny.

We’re not here to tell you “how it’s done.” Just how we’ve done it. And that whatever it is that’s calling you - the way you’ll do it is much more attainable than it may seem. We believe the world’s a more interesting place when people reject convention in favor of what they actually care about. This is us putting that idea to the test – one budget spreadsheet, RV renovation and mountain-peak drone video at a time.
