Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” and taking more trips together and finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and travel hacking over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this YouTube channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling. So we extended our 1 year trip to THREE years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

Nobody travels to this Asian country! 24 hours in Almaty, Kazakhstan

Join my Patreon community for early access and behind-the-scenes content!

Over the next 7 weeks, I will be attempting to journey through Central Asia, the lands between the Caspian Sea and the Tian Shan Mountains which formed the heartlands of the ancient Silk Road. (Insert a map of Central Asia)

Starting in Kazakhstan, I'll be exploring the historical culture, towns, and cities of Uzbekistan, the mountainous country of Tajikistan, and the nomadic land of Kyrgyzstan. Having flown into Almaty, I'll be exploring this former capital city of Kazakhstan which is the country’s trading and cultural hub.

With a little plan in place, I'll be figuring things out as I go and embracing the unknown. Come along as I share my experiences of traversing these vast and unfamiliar lands.

ABOUT ME:
I started solo travelling in 2013 and left Indonesia in 2016 to pursue full-time travelling while at the same time documenting my journey as I explore different cultures as a solo female traveller.

Having initially travelled for 5 months throughout Asia, I moved to China in January 2017 for an English teaching job, which was my first experience living abroad.

Since leaving China in 2018, I have taken the move to become a full-time YouTube creator and traveller. I strive to create unique, culture-driven content and capture authentic interactions as I travel.

Almaty Vlog | 24 hours layover in Almaty | Travel Vlog

I took the layover for 24 hours in Almaty, Kazakhstan. I book a flight with Air Astana from Delhi to Almaty and opted for 72 hours Transit Visa which is available for most of the countries (that includes India as well).

It was freezing cold in Almaty and because of the last-minute decision to take the layover in Almaty, Kazakhstan I wasn’t even prepared for the snowfall and -15ºC temperature. You will be laughing out loud after seeing how I managed it.

With the limited hours at hand, I kept roaming around the city. I am sharing Almaty Vlog loaded with my personal experiences of Food, Nightlife, City Bus, Local Taxi and Winter Sports of Almaty.

In this Travel Vlog, I have also discussed my flight review of Air Astana in detail from Delhi to Almaty and Almaty to Istanbul.

Meet you all in my upcoming travel videos.

What Kazakhstan is REALLY Like | Almaty Travel Vlog

After heading out to see the barren deserts, sand dunes, Mosques and more - our travels through the Almaty region in Kazakhstan continues.

And like that a day later we leave flat lands to go and explore beautiful mountains and lakes covered in pine trees - this country is honestly so diverse.

First stop we headed out to Moon Canyon which is known as the Grand Canyon of Central Asia. After lunch at a locals house in Saty we started our journey out to see the lakes...but not using any car - an old Soviet style jeep.

We were blown away at the beauty of Kaindy Lake and its interesting story of having petrified dead trees in it's turquoise waters.

Our final stop for the day was Kolsai lakes to make camp for a couple of nights.

Thanks to Open Forum Kazakhstan for partnering with us on this series.

Can You Really Travel to Kazakhstan Visa Free in 2023?

If you are planning a trip to Kazakhstan, then you should know that Indians don't need a Visa to travel to Kazakhstan if the trip is less than 15 days. Here is everything you need to know about getting a Kazakhstan Visa for Indian Passports.

Related Blog Post

????️ Check out my favorite travel essentials here:

➡️ Visa-Free Entry

In 2022, Kazakhstan authorities introduced visa-free entry for citizens of India, China, and Iran. Within this regime, you can stay in Kazakhstan for up to 14 days continuously.

The maximum duration that a visitor can stay in Kazakhstan is 42 days in every 180-day period. How is this counted? From the first day of your first visit.

So, if you are visiting Kazakhstan on 10th July, then the 180-day period starts from 10th July. Now, in these 6 months, you can only stay a total of 42 days, and each stay should be up to 14 days.

➡️ E-Visa

- Processing Time: 5 working days
- Visa fees: 60 USD for tourists
- Validity: 90 Days, but duration of stay allowed is 30 days only

You cannot apply for Kazakhstan without a letter of invitation. E-visa is only issued if there is a valid invitation from the Kazakh side.

The Kazakhstan e-visa for Indians (e-visa) allows you to enter/exit the Republic of Kazakhstan through Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport and Almaty International Airport.

➡️ How to Apply for Kazakhstan Visa for Indian Passport (if you need to stay longer than 14 days)

To apply for the Kazakhstan Tourist Visa (B12), you will need an approved Invitation Letter (Visa Support) for your visit. The approval needs to be given by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan.

You can either apply for a single-entry tourist visa or a multiple-entry tourist visa.

Steps to Follow to Get Your Kazakhstan Visa

- Arrange an LOI (Visa Support) for your intended stay in Kazakhstan.
- Download the Visa Application Form and fill it out.
- Get the latest Passport-sized photo of yourself and stick it on the visa form.
- Get a printout or a photocopy of the Visa Support Letter.
- Take a Photocopy of your National Identity Card like an Aadhaar Card.
- Take a Photocopy of your Passport’s First and Last Pages.
- Reserve hotels/hostels for your stay and mention them in the Visa Form and your Trip Itinerary. You can use booking.com to make the reservations and cancel them for free later on.
- Draft a Letter outlining your Trip Itinerary
- Get the Visa Fee in USD and deposit it for the Embassy account.
- Drop off all the above-mentioned documents and your original passport at the Embassy Consular Office.
- You will be given a Visa Processing Receipt, which you will need to show after 5 working days to pick up your passport and Visa.
- Pick up your Visa and Passport after 5 working days from the Embassy Consular Office.
- Check if all the details in the Visa are correctly filled or not.
- Make the entry in their Visa Approval Register.

That’s it. You now have a valid visa to head to Kazakhstan. So, book your flight and pack your bags.

48 Hours in Kazakhstan's Capital City | Nur Sultan (Astana) Vlog

It's our final episode here in Kazakhstan and we are going to show you the big differences between Almaty and the futuristic capital of Nur Sultan.

Before we make our way up to the nations capital, on our way back to Almaty we stopped off at the Grand Canyon of Central Asia - Charyn Canyon.

After exploring the Kazakh yurts we made our way back to Almaty to explore this city as when we arrived we didn't have the opportunity to see it.

Places we saw in Almaty
- Zenkov Cathedral /Ascension Cathedral
- Green Market
- Kok-Tobe Hill (Gondola Ride)

That afternoon we caught a domestic flight up to Nur-Sultan/Astana where we did our very first talk at a conference - the Opening Kazakhstan forum

After our talk on stage we explored more of the city
- Hazrat Sultan Mosque
- Kazakhstan Pavilion and Science Museum (Nur Alem)
- Bayterek Tower

Thanks again for your support on this series :) we loved our time here in Kazakhstan.
