I explored the country as a budget traveler first and as a wealthy tourist renting a car and cruising up and down the highways. I visited one of the most expensive hotels in Asia, the largest stilts village in the world, Brunei beaches, the jungle, browsed its crazy markets and befriended the locals.
▶ WHERE TO STAY IN BRUNEI CITY
I went for a budget Higher Hotel in an area that is 15 mins walk away from central Bandar Seri Begawan. I chose this hotel based on reviews and the fact it was completed very recently. I found the Higher Hotel to be an awesome value for money and a good compromise location wise.

Brunei Darussalam is a tiny sultanate in the north of the island of Borneo located on the shores of the South China Sea and is surrounded by the Malayan federal states of Sabah and Sarawak. The capital, Bandar Seri Begawan, is like something from an exotic fantasy.
The splendour of the mosque of Sultan Omar Ali Saiffudin is a captivating sight. This Islamic landmark is also a symbol of great wealth and was built in 1958 and was named after the father of the present sultan. Snow white Italian Carrara marble was used as building material, with granite from Shanghai. It commemorates the founder of modern Brunei.
On a classic longboat powered by outboard motor, we travel on the Brunei River and are soon surrounded by mangrove brush. Tropical thunderstorms and monsoon rain create dense vegetation and the ensuing humidity produces lush flora.
At the junction of two muddy-grey waterways of the Brunei River is an historic location, Kampung Ayer, a water village. Each building and adjoining pathway is built on posts yet there is both an electricity and drinking water supply. Plants decorate the terraces, and TV aerials are everywhere and it has a population of around thirty thousand.
Brunei is a land that has almost lost its history while moving into modern times. It is a country that has grown amazingly wealthy since its gas has hissed and its oil has spluttered from deep below the ground. Liquid gold - Allah be praised!

Most people will stop over for a few hours or a day or so.
I only spent 3 hours there and was able to do all 5.
One point I must make after reading so many comments correcting me. I called the housing opposite Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque as slums (which they were.... they are gone now I believe). I also called the water village (Kampong Ayer) which is not (I only went from what I saw and was told at the time).

Welcome to my another travelling vlog.
This time, i decided to only share places that i found interesting for you to go & eat.
I went to brunei again last month to visit my husband, stayed there for 10 days. Did not really go out but i did go to numbers of amazing places. Which i think, you should go if you happened to be in Brunei.
All places mentioned can be googled or searched on waze or any gps.

INGREDIENT
Prawn
Butter
Curry leaves
Milk ( i use low fat milk)
Chili flakes + black pepper + garlic + parsley (optional)
Salt
Sugar
Chili
HOW TO:
1 . Fry the prawn using any cooking oil/olive oil/ butter
2. In another pan, melt the butter ( the amount is up to you)
3. Add chili, the optional ingredients + curry leaves + milk + salt +sugar
4. Add prawn. Stir.
5. Happy eating!

Top best places to visit in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei
Bandar Seri Begawan is the capital of Brunei Darussalam, a country in South East Asia.
It’s a small but very rich sultanate located on the north coast of the island of Borneo.
Bandar Seri Begawan, or BSB, is the largest and the most important city in the kingdom.
There are two great mosques in the city. Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien is considered as one of the most beautiful mosques in the Asia Pacific.
It serves as a symbol of the Islamic faith and dominates the skyline of BSB.
But the number one landmark in Brunei is Jame'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque.
Built in 1992 for the 25th anniversary of the current sultan’s reign has every inch covered with artistic details.
Other attractions are not so impressive.
There is a Chinese temple hidden downtown.
Also in the center there is Royal Regalia Building Museum,
Three government buildings including Royal Ceremonial Hall,
And Parliament House,
And Brunei History Center Museum.
A little outside the city center there are three museums and two mausoleums, all in walking distance.
One of these mausoleums is in Kota Batu Archaeological Park
And is dedicated to Sultan Bolkiah.
The other is devoted to Sultan Sharif Ali.
In the center there is a prominent Ali Saifuddien Park which holds the most important celebrations and ceremonies.
And this is not the only green area with a big space in the city.
Several commercial activities under one roof is provided by the Yayasan Complex.
And nearby waterfront is a perfect place to rest.
From here, you can take a river cruise,
See the Kampong Ayer, a water village,
And other attractions.
River Cruise is a highly recommended thing to do in BSB.
There are plenty of locals with boats and they can take you on the tour to visit:
Kampong Ayer, an area that is situated over Brunei River.
Built entirely of stilt houses and wooden walkways it is the world’s largest water village.
Residence of the Sultan of Brunei the Istana Nurul Iman Palace.
Which is one of the biggest residence in the world.
But first of all to visit beautiful wild nature.

Today we make our way from Miri to Brunei!! A quick bus ride over the border I ended up having to hitch hike for the first time!! Luckily that turned out otherwise I may not have made it to the bus stop!
Arriving in Brunei after lunch, we spend the afternoon touring the city a visiting the Royal Regala Museum and watching the sunset biking around Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque which is considered to tbe one of the most beautiful mosques in the Asia Pacific, and after seeing the sunset, I definitely don't doubt it!!!
