News From 2019 World Series Of Poker: June 15

The $10,000 HORSE event finished yesterday with Greg Mueller winning his third bracelet and $425,347. At one point on the final table in Limit Hold’em, he was all in with bottom pair, no kicker and no fold equity. After winning that hand and fast forwarding a few hours, Mueller defeated Daniel Ospina heads up to claim his first bracelet since 2009.

In the $3,000 6-Max tournament Thomas Cazayous won his first bracelet. Cazayous came into the final table as the biggest stack and never dipped below second place. He was nicknamed ‘The Silent Assassin’ by the rest of the final table which he ended up living up to as he picked off the final four players, one by one, to record his biggest live tournament cash at $414,766.

The second and final starting flight of the $1,000 Double Stack began today. Yesterday saw 2,944 players enter for Day 1A which were cut down to just over 1,000 after 11 hours of play. Robert Peacock captured his first bracelet last year and $644,000 first place prize.

The $3,000 Shootout will also kick off today with Joe Cada looking to defend his title from last year which saw him take his third bracelet and $226,218. Cada actually had an amazing 2018 WSOP as he then went on to beat 3,120 players in the $1,500 Closer at the end of the series to win his fourth bracelet eventually finishing 3rd in the 2018 WSOP Player Of The Year leaderboard.

Yesterday the $10,000 Dealers Choice event began with 114 players entering. At the end of play yesterday, well known Jeff Lisandro bagged the chip lead from the remaining 44 players. Not far behind him though is head of the Markup Police Department and 2018 WSOP Player Of The Year - Shaun Deeb. Adam Friedman who won this event last year is still in with a chance at defending his title. In fact there is a long list of very well known players that will be returning today including; Frank Kassela, Nick Schulman, Phil Galfond, Brian Hastings and trying to win his second bracelet of the series Michael ‘The Grinder’ Mizrachi.

In the $1,000 Seniors event 252 players will take to their seats to try and navigate their way through the day to make the final table which will be played out tomorrow. Howard Mash comes in to the day as the chip leader and he will be looking to win his first WSOP bracelet and winning the $662,000 first place prize would more than triple his current total live tournament earnings. WPT Champion Victor Ramdin is another one of the big stacks and Poker Hall of Famer Barry Greenstein will also be taking his seat today.

Five players will be returning today to play out the $1,000 Pot Limit Omaha event. None of the five players are bracelet winners so all of them will be looking to capture their first and the $236,000 up top. This event was actually due to finish yesterday but the overall entries were 540 players up from last year which means that it will need an extra day to finish. Coming in to the final table with over half of the chips is Luis Zedan who has almost 16,000,000 chips of the 30,000,000 in play. Still in with a shot at winning is the UK’s very own Sam Razavi who has a pretty staggering 46 recorded live tournament wins so he will be no stranger to this final table secnario as he looks to win his first bracelet.

The $1,500 Limit Deuce To Seven Lowball Triple Draw will also find a winner today with 17 players returning from the 467 that entered. Hanh Tran comes in to the day as chip leader and will be looking to defend his title after winning this exact tournament last year for $117,000 and his first WSOP Bracelet. Towards the end of the year he then won his second bracelet at the World Series Of Poker Europe in a €560 PLO tournament. That would mean that if he does manage to successfully defend his title he will have won three bracelets in a year, which will actually tie him for the record for the most bracelets won by a player in a single year. The competition is still pretty tough though with lots of bracelet winners still in contention including three time winners - Frankie O’Dell, David Bach and Benny Glaser. Daniel Strelitz is also still in with a shot on winning his second bracelet this series after capturing the $3,000 6 Max title last week.

The $2,620 Marathon will finally come to a close today after five extremely long days of Poker. 1083 players started on this poker adventure and today only 6 will be returning. Jared Koppel comes in today as the overwhelming chip leader with over double the amount of chips that second place player has. He will be looking to win his first bracelet and only his second reported live tournament. His first was two years ago here at the Rio in a $365 Deepstack for $20,707. He’s already surpassed that cash with every returning player being guaranteed at least $80,000. They will all be eyeing up that top prize though which is a mouthwatering $477,000.

News From 2019 World Series of Poker: June 14

Day 17 Update on June 14th from the 50th annual world series of poker
Probably the most exciting news to emerge from the Rio yesterday was Michael Mizrachi winning his 5th bracelet. The chants of Michael Mizrachi's rail echoed around the Amazon room from Event #27: $1,500 Stud Hi-Lo as he captured bracelet number five, becoming the most successful bracelet-winner of the decade.

The other champion to be crowned yesterday came in Event #28 a $1k No Limit Event with more than $340K up top. The man who came in with nearly half the chips in play is the man who walked away with the bracelet and we were tableside to capture his thoughts after play ended.

Coming into Day 5 of the Marathon there are 16 players left, and in the spirit of the marathon the 100-minute levels will continue until there are only 6 players remaining. Roman Korenev is the main to catch at the moment.

That star power at the Rio can always be found in the $10k horse championship which is down to just 7 players. Dario Sammartino will be looking to capture his first bracelet, but just behind him in chips is Scott Clements who has already won a bracelet this summer and 3 in total. Behind him in Greg Mueller and really with a variant like HORSE things can shift pretty quickly. All the players have about $55k locked up but with more than $425K up top you will not want to miss and you can watch on CBS all access or Poker Go starting at 1pm local time.

For those not glued to the $10K, I have to imagine you will be refreshing one of my fav tourneys of the summer. The $3k 6 max. There are currently 20 players from the original 754 battling for a top prize of almost $415K. There are three previous bracelet winners still in contention including chip leader Upeshka de Silva as well as Angel Guillen and Kyle Cartwright.

58 players remain in event 30 the $1k PLO. You can follow all the action on the PokerNews blog.

There are two day twos today as the Seniors return with a whopping fifteen hundred and fifty players still in the mix.

Event #33 the $1500 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw, is coming back today with 139.

Today two events are kicking off which included another early 10am start for the $1k Double Stack which already has close to 1500 entries

Finally the 10k Dealers Choice will begin at 3pm pacific time and should attract some of the most skilled players around.

Stephen Chidwick wins his FIRST WSOP Bracelet and $1,618,417!!

Stephen Chidwick is the latest WSOP winner after he defeated a field of 278 players to capture his first WSOP Bracelet in the $25,000 Pot Limit Omaha High Roller Event. Chidwick has recently become a first time father as well which meant that this was his first WSOP event this summer. Normally he would be deep into his summer grind by now but this later start seems to have paid off as he turned his max late registration into a pretty hefty pay day pocketing himself $1,617,417.

News From The 2019 World Series Of Poker: June 22

It’s now over halfway through the 2019 World Series Of Poker and here are all of the updates that you need to know today.

Last night saw the $1,500 Bounty tournament crown a winner. 1,807 players started this event but it was Asi Moshe who was the last man standing. Asi takes home his third WSOP bracelet and at one point when they were four handed he found himself with almost 60% of the chips in play. He used his big stack aggressively but then three handed he saw his 7 to 1 chip lead do a complete turn around as he ended up as one of the short stacks. He managed to recompose himself and eventually regained control to knock both of the remaining players out to earn himself $253,000 for his first place finish as well as all that extra bounty money!

Just 7 players will be returning today to finish the $25,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller event. As to be expected there are some big names still left in contention including chip leader Stephen Chidwick. This is Chidwick’s first WSOP event this year as he has just become a brand new Father! Congratulations to Stephen and this tournament could become another new first for him as he looks to win his first WSOP bracelet.

The $1,000 Ladies tournament will see 43 women return today. This event is due to play down to a final 6 players which will be finished tomorrow. Almost 1000 players entered this event which has generated a first place prize of $167,308. Tu Dao was down to just 13 big blinds in the last level of the day but went on an insane heater to run up her stack from around 150,000 to 850,000 which has now bagged her the chip lead. Ana Marquez comes in the day as another chip leader and she is looking to improve upon her tenth place finish in the $1,500 Millionaire Maker earlier this series.

26 will return for the $2,500 No Limit event which saw just shy of a 1,000 players enter. Lots of bracelet winners are still in the field including two time bracelet winners Barny Boatman, David Baker and Kristen Bicknell. The winner of this event will take home a very impressive $427,399 as well as one of those very shiny and very exclusive 50th Anniversary WSOP Bracelets.

The $10,000 Limit 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw will find it’s winner today. There are only 3 players of the remaining 9 who do not currently have a bracelet. Looking to add to their WSOP bracelet collection will be Brian Hastings, Calvin Anderson and Daniel Ospina who will all be taking their seats as well today.

The $2,500 Mixed - Omaha Hi/Lo 8 or Better / Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo 8 or better. Yeah, that event will continue today with 128 remaining from the 401 that entered. Some notable names left in this field include bracelet winners - Phil Hellmuth, Shaun Deeb, who is one of the chip leaders & Eli Elezra.

The second and final flight of the $1,500 Monster Stack kicks off today. Yesterday saw 3,928 players enter Day 1A with just over a thousand advancing to Day 2. Yesterday saw Connor Beresford steadily build a stack throughout the day and at the end he found himself bagging the chip lead with over 400 big blind!

The $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha 8 Handed event will also begin today. Last year Loren Klein won his third bracelet in this event and just over $1,000,000 after he out lasted 475 other players. In fact, for those of you that don’t know, Klein has etched himself into a WSOP record this year as he recently took down the $2,500 Mixed Big Bet event which means he has now won a WSOP bracelet every year for the past four years. This is something that only Bill Boyd and Doyle Brunson managed to do back in the seventies. Arguably Klein’s achievement is slightly more impressive with him doing it in the modern era of Poker which draw larger field sizes for the events.

2019 World Series of Poker Fantasy Draft Drama

THE 888poker GREAT DEBATE:

The recent addition of a $50k Final Fifty High Roller to the 2019 WSOP schedule threw a wrench in fantasy leagues that are designed for the World Series of Poker and are also the basis for a lot of side bets. The leagues, the $25k Fantasy run by Daniel Negreanu and the $2.5k Fantasy league run by David 'ODB' Baker, have a lot of money on the line and decisions are made during the draft based on the WSOP schedule.

Immediately, players involved began to debate whether or not to add the added $50k into the draft. Negreanu proposed to appoint an arbitration committee of three to hear arguments on either side and make a final ruling.

Sarah Herring talks to Daniel Negreanu, David Baker, Frank Kesella, Remko Rinkema, Donnie Peters and Phil Galfond to get a rounded perspective from both sides.
