Excellent trip cycling through the Green Heart of the Netherlands. This was a bike & barge trip where the barge moved each day whilst we were cycling and acted as our floating hotel. Great experience and my oh my were we lucky with the weather!

NORTH HOLLAND CYCLE TOUR - The Netherlands
200 km over 5 days cycling around the very beautiful north of Holland. A great end to an amazing holiday with such perfect weather! Sore bums and burnt bodies but already wish I could be back here!

Cycling in The Netherlands - Brilliant
Cycling in The Netherlands is an absolute joy - the motorists respect cyclists, the cycle paths are often away from other traffic and the routes are well marked. In this short video I do my best to encourage you to try a cycling holiday in this wonderful country. Bicycle hire is not expensive and you can find excellent campsites for as little as Euro 18 per night for two or bed and breakfast from as little as Euro 40 per person.
Cycling 1000km around the Netherlands!
I set off to ride roughly 600miles/1000km around the #Netherlands in a week with just my bike and a few essentials - all to raise money for two UK mental health charities: Mind and Bipolar UK.
Thank you to everyone that supported my Dutch bike tour and donated! An incredible £1362.50 was raised (including Gift Aid) which was way beyond what I ever imagined.

Drenthe is the cycling province of the Netherlands, and a wonderful place to cycle. There are thousands of kilometres of hard cycle path in this area, both the direct routes used daily by everyone and the recreational cycle paths that you see in this video.
Cycling here is an almost entirely traffic free experience. There are more cyclists here and fewer cars to deal with than anywhere else in the world. All cafes, restaurants, museums and other destinations expect cyclists.
Yesterday we went for a 60 km ride through the beautiful countryside in Drenthe, planning a cycling holiday route. We live in Assen, capital of the province of Drenthe, where 41% of all journeys are made by bicycle. In the summer it's higher still. Our holidays are based in the city, and our routes extend in all directions out into the countryside as you see in this video. There are many interesting places to visit along the way.
The music is the Frisco Jazz Band with All I need is just a girl like you from 1918, Harry Raderman's Jazz Orchestra playing Cherie in 1921 and John J. Kimmel playing American polka in 1908.
