CTA’s Common Grounds: Discussion on the Red Line Extension (RLE) Project
In celebration of Black History Month, the CTA’s Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Team is proud to present TaNesheha T. Marshall, PE, as the featured guest speaker for CTA’s internal Common Grounds session – a monthly series highlighting workforce opportunities for staff.
TaNesheha, Vice President of the $3.6 billion Red Line Extension (RLE) project, discusses the impacts the project is expected to have as the single biggest investment on the Far South Side in decades. The project is expected to foster economic development in the project area and help to reverse decades of disinvestment in local business districts.
CTA’s RLE Project will extend the Red Line from 95th Street/Dan Ryan to 130th Street in the City of Chicago. RLE is the CTA’s largest equity project in the Authority’s history and is expected to bring heavy rail train service to the City’s Far South Side. The project will improve the transit experience for the surrounding communities, many of which are marginalized. The project is also expected to generate an estimated more than 25,000 jobs throughout the Cook County region in coming years.

Living in Italy changed not only my life but also me as a person. Going through daily life in Italy as a dual citizen expat is an experience that I'm so grateful I've been able to have. After almost 5 years since moving to Italy of course, I have plenty to say. As we approach the end of this year, I can't help reflect on these past years in Italy and what I experienced there, the ups and downs, the positives and negatives, and to look at what I can take away from these moments in my own expat life in Italy. In this expat podcast episode of Not Your Average Globetrotter, I thought I would take this opportunity for the last video of 2021 to talk about these thoughts regarding life after a move to Italy and living abroad in Italy.

Il racconto di Venanzia inizia nel 1994 al Politecnico di Torino: quando, da studentessa di architettura, si trasferisce a Oulu, cittadina della Finlandia settentrionale. Il progetto Erasmus a cui prende parte è l’occasione per conoscere una cultura diamentralmente opposta alle sue radici lucane. È qui che Venanzia diventa la donna che è oggi: moglie, architetto, imprenditrice, console onorario per l’Italia in Finlandia. Una strada in salita attraversata grazie alla tenacia e alla voglia di farcela che, racconta, contraddistingue quelle persone che vengono da una terra bellissima e difficile come la Basilicata.
Venanzia's story begins in 1994 at the Polytechnic of Turin: as an architecture student, she moved to Oulu, a city in northern Finland. The Erasmus project she took part in was an opportunity to get to know a culture diametrically opposed to her Lucanian roots. It was here that Venanzia became the woman she is today: wife, architect, entrepreneur, honorary consul for Italy in Finland. An uphill road crossed thanks to the tenacity and the desire to make it that, she says, distinguishes those people who come from a beautiful and difficult land like Basilicata.

BGS - 2024 BGS Report to the General Board - Fili Chambo
Dr. Fili Chambo delivered the 2024 BGS report on the 25th of February at the 100th session of the General Board in Overland Park Kansas.
The General Board is elected at General Assembly and is composed of district superintendents, assigned ordained ministers, and lay leaders representing the global church. Convening annually, the board has governing responsibility for the Church of the Nazarene and carries out the corporate business of the denominational offices.
