House Tour: 1888 Victorian Mansion

Are you fascinated by Victorian architecture? Then we have the best house tour EVER ready for you today! This Victorian Mansion Tour features the Hornibrook Mansion, built in 1888, features every aspect of the Queen Anne Victorian style in it's highest and best form. The aesthetic movement details in this house have been exquisitely and lovingly restored.

Construction begun on this masterpiece in 1881 and ended in 1888. Sadly, the builder only enjoyed living in the home until 1890, when he died of a stroke at the homes front gate. His wife Margaret died in 1893. After her death the home became the Arkansas Womens College, an insurance agency, a rooming house for women, and eventually a nursing home.

The home was purchased in 1993 by Sharon Welch-Blair and Bob Blair, who undertook a massive restoration which included removing walls, bathrooms and an elevator to return the mansion to it's original floorplan. They then meticulously restored the eastlake and aesthetic movement elements of the home to the highest and best standards. Minton tile, Bradbury and Bradbury wallpaper, Lincrusta and more were used to create the period appropriate perfect details. They then christened the home The Empress of Little Rock and opened it as a Bed and Breakfast. It was quickly listed on the nations top BNB lists, and awarded the prestigious Diamond of Excellence in the industry.

The Blairs then surrounded the home with sumptuous gardens, and created a backyard mini-chapel to host garden weddings. It is where Laine and Kevin spent their honeymoon in 1996, just after the Empress Opened for business.

In 2019 the Blairs sold the home and business to Antonio Figueroa and Keith Sandridge, who continue the tradition of luxury and excellence worthy of the Hornibrook Mansion.

SAN FERNANDO Trinidad and Tobago Caribbean Walk Through covering major Streets by JBManCave.com

Best San Fernando. Trinidad and Tobago. Caribbean Walk Through covering major Streets. Walking around the city of San Fernando proper in Trinidad, an island in the Caribbean which makes up a Republic known as Trinidad and Tobago. The name of San Fernando was named after Spanish royalty. The people of San Fernando are friendly, easy going as you would expect from the Caribbean and there is a whole bunch of shopping. While there is a key below for you to skip around various footage of specific streets in San Fernando you can only truly get the gist of San Fernando by watching the whole video from start to finish.

This is a walk through covering all the major streets and roads that are the most traversed when visiting San Fernando. There will be lots of commentary and I will be leaving the natural sounds so you can hear what I hear. Like all videos in JB's Man Cave, I keep things real by showing you raw footage so you can pick up the details. This is not a tourist video although tourists can use it to gauge what the streets and people are like in the city of San Fernando.

For those curious as to why some parts may be blurred: Usually if the camera focuses too much on the faces of children or some awkward moment then I blur it to protect the integrity of the people around me. These videos focus on the general surroundings and not specific people unless I am conducting an interview or approached by someone during the course of recording.

Here is a simple San Fernando walk through key:
0:00:00 - Start Carlton Centre car park.
0:03:08 - High St.
0:11:56 - Coffee St.
0:17:14 - Presentation College
0:38:43 - PTSC Bus Terminal.
0:39:38 - Wharf at Queen St.
0:55:13 - San Fernando Teaching Hospital
0:58:37 - Harris Promenade
1:10:26 - Mucurapo St.
1:13:29 - San Fernando Market
1:17:47 - San Fernando Jama Masjid
1:23:36 - Paradise St. Cemetery
1:34:00 - Empire Cinemas, Penitence St.

SUMMARY:
- Taj Mahal has been one of the Seven Wonders of the World for quite some time. The construction was commissioned in 1632, and it’s believed that it took up to 21 years to complete the entire project.
- There was an infamous Indian conman who repeatedly “sold” different landmarks in the country, including the Taj Mahal and the Parliament House of India!
- With around 51 births every minute (that’s over 73,000 a day!), this country has one of the fastest-growing populations in the world.
- There are about 780 languages spoken in India, but some sources put it in the thousands. Whatever the case, only 22 have been recognized as official languages.
- You’ll be happy to know that cell service and mobile Internet is very cheap in India.
- If you go to a restaurant and order a whole meal with chicken or even fish, your bill could be as little as $1!
- In case you haven’t heard of the Land of Spices, India produces around 70% of the world’s supply.
- A State of the Nation Survey in 2006 showed that up to 31% of the Indian population is vegetarian, and another 9% do eat eggs but no forms of meat.
- Cricket is the most popular sport in the country, much like soccer in Europe or football in the US.
- The Ganges Dolphin is unique to this river. Unfortunately, their numbers are drastically decreasing due to increasing pollution.
- Kumbh Mela is the two-month mass pilgrimage of those of Hindu faith to bathe in the Ganges.
- Kumbh Mela is one of many festivals celebrated in the Indian culture, but the brightest has to be the color festival Holi.
- Indian bills also have Braille markings so that blind people can read their values.
- Another fun fact on the topic of Indian money: it’s illegal for foreigners to take rupees in or out of the country.
- Did you know that the iconic band’s frontman Freddy Mercury was of Indian descent? His name at birth was Farrokh Bulsara, and both of his parents were from Bombay!
- India has the highest number of winners for the Miss World competition with a total of six! Only Venezuela has produced the same amount of title-holders since the beauty pageant’s start in 1951.
- You familiar with Chutes and Ladders? Well, this popular classic dates back to ancient Indian times and was known as ‘Moksha Patam’.
