The humble people of Mauritius, all 1.2 million of them, are as diverse as I've seen in any single country. And that's because there is no indigenous population here -- every Mauritian today is a descendant from immigrants who came here centuries ago, mostly from India, France, Great Britain, East Africa (Madagascar) and China.
As a result, Mauritius is a melting pot of cultures, foods, religions, languages and ideas -- which is extra special for me because I love to dig deep into the local life! In today's video, see what I have discovered about the beautiful people of Mauritius.

Quello che non sai di MAURITIUS! ???? [ENG subs]
In questa seconda parte del nostro viaggio a Mauritius il sole ci sorride e ci fa vivere esperienze meravigliose ed indimenticabili! Su Ile aux Aigrettes abbiamo l'onore di grattare il collo ad una tartaruga di oltre 90 anni, oltre che vedere tutti e cinque gli animali in stato di conservazione critica endemici di questo territorio.
Dopo un incidente con la GoPro continuiamo la nostra avventura con una giornata culturale per scoprire la storia di Mauritius. Infine, come ciliegina sulla torta, vediamo le famose cascate sottomarine (anche se solo col drone) e facciamo il bagno in vere cascate!
NOTA generalmente è consigliato non avvicinare animali selvatici, sia per la propria che per la loro sicurezza. La tartaruga che abbiamo accarezzato tuttavia avanzava verso di noi mentre cercavamo di fotografarla, nonostante noi ci allontanassimo progressivamente. A quel punto la guida ci ha detto che questa particolare tartaruga avvicina alcuni turisti perché ama farsi grattare sotto il collo. Questo è uno dei motivi per cui visitare certi luoghi con le guide, oltre che saper interpretare i comportamenti animali spesso conoscono i diversi esemplari e le loro abitudini.

How Safe Is Mauritius for Travel?

Mauritius is a small island located in the Indian Ocean, to the east of Madagascar, northeast of Reunion and southeast of Seychelles.
The obvious beauties of this country are of course its jaw-dropping beaches with white sands and crystal blue waters.
Here, you can enjoy diving and snorkeling to your heart’s content, and since Mauritius is by shallow waters, watching coral reefs, breathtaking underwater topography and a dramatic ocean drop-off can also be on your to-do list.
In turn, when you’re on land, you can choose between hiking, horse riding and golf courses of high-standard.
However, there is another, truly wonderful quality about this island: its wildlife.
Overall generally, Mauritius is very safe to visit. It is probably one of the safest countries in Africa to travel to, but it has its dangers. Use your common sense and keep your valuables closely by your side, since the most common type of crime is petty theft.
