Reveal NZ was a 23 part video series in a campervan showing the ultimate New Zealand holiday. Though to be fair, we still had recommendations about some of the top things to do in New Zealand that we missed of the best places to visit that we either a) couldn't get to for what ever reason, b) regret not spending enough time at or c) didn't plan in at all — so you can benefit from that! More than just taking a motorhome around New Zealand, the videos were about how to travel New Zealand, the top tourist spots, the hidden local gems, incredible day trips, extreme activities, amazing accommodation and a spot of wining and dining... The series is about making you feel like you're along for the travels with us, so grab a drink of your poison, sit back and get ready for 5 weeks driving in a campervan hire from Auckland to The Catlins.

Beware of THIS in New Zealand!

Did you expect this in New Zealand? When you come to New Zealand, you'll be shocked to see gangs. Gangs in New Zealand are so unafraid of the Police that they ride obnoxiously loud motorcycles so you can hear them a mile away.

They even wear a uniform which includes a gang patch, so you know which gang they're from.

This is how open and obvious organised crime is in New Zealand. And for visitors like my wife, it's shocking.

If you stay away from them, they won't bug ya. But the reality is gangs are known for the drug trade, murder, theft, violence against women, and the list goes on.

There are numerous gangs in New Zealand, of varying criminality, organisation and ethnicity, including outlaw motorcycle gangs, street gangs and ethnically based gangs. A chapter of the Hells Angels motorcycle club was formed in Auckland in 1961, the first Hells Angels chapter outside the US.

Soon after, the Mongrel Mob formed in Hastings and Wellington, developing into a predominantly Māori and Pacific Islander gang and having the largest membership in the country.

Through the 1960s and 1970s, other outlaw motorcycle clubs and ethnically based gangs formed, including another predominantly Māori gang, Black Power (not related to the African-American movement), which grew to rival the Mongrel Mob. from Wikipedia.

Where's Your Hidden Gem in New Zealand?

While travelling in New Zealand, my friend took me to this hidden gem. This is the Castle Point Lighthouse located near the village of Castlepoint in the Wellington Region of the North Island of New Zealand.

It's the North Island's tallest lighthouse standing 52 metres above sea level, and is one of only two left in New Zealand with a rotating beam. It is owned and operated by Maritime New Zealand.

You can find the Castlepoint Lighthouse on Google Maps

7 Things NOT To Do in New Zealand

Get more Tips here!
So what do we know about New Zealand?
Home to the Flight of the Conchords and the Internet supervillain Kim Dotcom, it's where they filmed Lord of the Rings and they
drive on the left and according to Quora.com they also mention how its people radiate extreme friendliness.
But there are certainly some things NOT to do there!

1. Don't confuse New Zealand with Australia!
It can be a sensitive topic, and people can get into all kinds of
irrational comparisons when challenged on the topic, like this one.

So you get there, but alass it's raining!
2.Don’t freak out about the rain
It’s not worth waiting for the rain to stop before you head out.
In ten-minute intervals you’ll be rained on, get sunburnt, or catch a
chill from a southerly

A Southerly is a cold wind that comes up from Antarctica. So take a fleece.

3: Forget Fashion!
Even Kiwis openly joke about the ugliness of their shorts.
New Zealand is a laid back sort of place with a relaxed dress code.
The summer uniform is shorts and jandals (flip-flops) or even barefoot; for the winter, just add a hoodie and beanie.

4. Don’t sunbathe!
Thanks to the hole in the ozone layer, the burn time in New Zealand is about 7-10 minutes in the summer. Wear sun protection at all times
You can ask any Kiwi kid and they’ll tell you to “Slip, Slop, Slap, and Wrap!”
(slip on a shirt, slop on some sunscreen, slap on a hat, and wrap on
some sunnies.

5. Don’t stay indoors in the summer!
It’s just not allowed! No self-respecting Kiwi would waste a perfect day indoors when there’s so much going on outside, and would be horrified to think that you're missing out on all the cultural festivals, like the Lantern Festival at Chinese New Year, and Pasifika, one of the biggest Polynesian festivals in the world.
Even parks host local festivals, where you can bring a picnic and
enjoy the free concerts,
plays, or movies.

6. Don’t underestimate the cuisine
You just need to know where to look. Ask around and look down side streets to see where Kiwis are eating. You have to try a steak and cheese pie or a mince potato top, but don’t stop there. New Zealand is close to Asia, and they have a lot of good Asian food too.

7. Don’t miss the local music
With such a small population, it’s hard for New Zealand to attract
big name bands. (like Take That) There are many talented local musicians that have filled the void.

Now go enjoy New Zealand!!!
