Myanmar Travel: 10 Days of MUST DO surprises in Yangon, Bagan and Inle Lake

We had no idea what to expect. But, after 6 days in Myanmar it was clear we needed to extend as long as we could. In total I spent 10 days exploring Myanmar (formerly Burma) with my brother. We started in Yangon, traveled by bus to Bagan, where we stayed in New Began, and then cut across to Inle Lake before flying on to Thailand from Yangon.

This video highlights some of the visuals from my trip while delving into the experience. You'll also find a series of vlogs here:

Is this THE BEST BEACH in Southeast Asia? - Ngapali Beach, Myanmar

Ngapali Beach in Myanmar is THE place to be right now. Myanmar (Burma) has opened it's borders and is now the better more authentic alternative to overcrowded Thailand. If you are traveling Myanmar, this is an absolute must-go to. The beaches are as great and the people way friendlier. Ngapali Beach is a top-notch beach, stretching over 10 km of white sand and crystal-clear blue water.

Nagapali Beach should definitely be on your travel route while doing a backpacking trip through south east asia!

Myanmar Island of the Mergui Archipelago (McKenzie / Nyaung Oo Phee Island)

Having been based in Thailand the past 7 years with Myanmar as a direct neighbour hadn’t diminished my own curiosity about visiting ‘one day’.

Myanmar had of course been closed off to tourism for many years, and has certainly gone through a fair amount of unrest since it’s independence from British Rule in 1948.

These decades of isolation certainly gives you a feeling that it holds many wonders that are waiting to be discovered.

Rumours of spectacular dive locations teeming with marine life – all without the throngs of lifejacket clad daytripping snorkelers. It seemed too good to be true.

So you can imagine that when we got the invitation to visit one of these very islands, we had zero hesitation!

Life Out Loud proudly presents our video on Nyaung Oo Phee island!

Explore Bagan - Myanmar day 1

Follow Us as we share with you the things we did on the first day when we arrived in Bagan. Our adventure was off to a rather eventful start. With the sheer ignorance that Thingyan or Water Festival in conjunction with the Myanmar New Year was yet to be over, we rented a scooter only to U-turn back to the hotel to exchange for a hired car with driver. This was after we got ourselves and some of our equipment “blessed”. Hehe…

After a change of clothing and some waterproofing procedures for our equipment, we headed out again in the comfort of an air-conditioned car with a very helpful and friendly driver. He used to work in Malaysia for a couple of years, therefore communication was not an issue since Jim could speak Bahasa Melayu! He was nice enough to help us bargain for better prices when we were buying souvenirs at some of the shops along the way!

Our first day in Bagan was action-packed! We visited 2 local restaurants for lunch and dinner. In between our meals, we swung by an elephant camp to feed the elephants. It was unfortunate that we have missed the hot air balloon season. However, we managed to have a good vantage point of Old Bagan from a newly constructed viewing tower! We visited 3 temples within the day, with one of these offering a very stunning sunset, the mesmerising sight which we absolutely fell in love with. While preparing to leave for the hotel after our dinner at a local alfresco restaurant which serves delicious, affordable dishes, we chanced upon a Kayan lady aka long-neck lady weaving scarf outside a souvenir shop. This was where we bought souvenirs for friends and loved ones at home. We did not forget a photograph or two with the Kayan lady too!

A very fruitful day jam-packed with lots of activities and good food we must say! And the day which initially started out with a minor glitch turned out to truly be one with blessings in disguise as the day unfolds!

Let us know what you think of our Day 1 in Bagan in the comments section below. We would love to hear from you! :D

Bagan Temples are CLOSING... This is Why! (Myanmar HONEST Review) ????????

The iconic Bagan temples in Myanmar are a must see for any world traveller. But what is Bagan REALLY like to visit in 2020?

The experience of exploring the ruined temples is not what it used to be. Climbing temples to find rooftop views is becoming a thing of the past, with most temples now locked up and restricted to tourists.

But can you still find temples in Bagan with rooftop viewpoints? And should you STILL visit Bagan? We spent 3 days exploring the plains to find out.

Myanmar 2020 | 4K | must see places

A video of our Myanmar trip in march 2020.
We had a great journey and the following stops:

We arrived in Yangon and took the bus to the
1:26 Shwedagon Pagoda and relaxed at the Kandawgyi Lake. Then we took the night bus to 2:37 Bagan. Loved it! There we had a lot of stunning sunrises and sunsets on our own 3:01 Pagoda - one of the last pagodas you are able to climb on (PM for the location). Driving around with an 4:01 e-scooter was a lot of fun. Again we took the night bus to Inle Lake and did a little trip by bike the the 5:23 Mudita Foundation Taunggyi. The Mudita School aims to provide modern and inclusive education for the underprivileged and orphaned children in Myanmar. Afterwards we had an unforgettable cooking course at 5:48 Mercury cooking class Nyaung Shwe. Very recommendable! The next morning we started a full day trip by boat on 6:04 Inle lake. We visited the floating gardens, lotus weaving, tobacco manufacturing and finally the 7:31 Shwe In Dein Pagodas. On the next day we took the plane to Thandwe and had an incredible stay at 8:12 Ngapali Lakeview Lodge. A place we can also highly recommend. From there we made a trip to a 8:37 private beach by boat. On a 9:54 snorkeling trip around pearl island you could see many corals and fish. Back in Yangon we had a ride with the 10:35 circle train to get an insight into the burmese everyday life.
We hope that we could give you some helpful advices. Enjoy your stay!

The Most Beautiful Beach in Myanmar I Ngapali Beach

We were so happy to come to Ngapali beach in Myanmar. It became the most beautiful beach we have seen so far in Asia. There are 3 beaches in Ngapali. This one is the one in the middle of them. There is absolutely nobody and no resorts. We loved this place so much! We hope you will too.

We stayed in Golden Queen Guest House, with fantastic staff and a great breakfast!

NGAPALI BEACH | il PARADISO del MYANMAR? BIRMANIA

Birmania, o meglio Myanmar!
Volete scoprire cosa vedere in questo bellissimo paese?
Date un'occhiata al nostro blog:

_____________________________________

HITCHHIKERS IN MYANMAR (BURMA) // HEADING TOWARDS THE BEACHES // MYANMAR TRAVEL VLOG

It's time to hitchihke again. This time we are sticking our thumbs out in Bagan, Myanmar to travel 580 kilometres to the famous beaches of Ngapali in Rakhin State.

We knew we were in for a mission this time. The further away we got from Bagan the worse the roads got and we started to doubt if we would make it all the way to Ngapali or not only by hitchhiking.
