WHY WE'VE STAYED IN AMERICAN SAMOA | WHY WE MOVED TO AMERICAN SAMOA, Part 2

When we moved to American Samoa back in 2017, we were excited for our new island adventure, but we had no idea just how deeply we would fall in love with our new home of American Samoa.

What started as a two-year commitment, extended by one more year, and then another, and now we're not sure we can ever truly call anywhere else home.

See what we first fell in love with and then what nourished our growing roots that will forever hold us tied to this beautiful, wonderful tropical paradise.

MOVING to AMERICAN SAMOA | SHIPPING HOUSEHOLD ITEMS OR BUYING THEM LOCALLY | COST OF LIVING

TO SHIP or NOT TO SHIP, that is the question when you're moving to AMERICAN SAMOA.
Thanks to our sponsor, SKILLSHARE, the first 1,000 people to use this link will get a 1 month free trial of Skillshare:

Moving can be stressful and chaotic, no matter how far you're going, but moving across oceans can be next level!

When moving to American Samoa, you're probably either going to sell all of your household items and need to buy replacements once you arrive or you'll need to arrange to ship it all. Or maybe even a combination of both.

Anyway you choose, this can seem overwhelming and confusing. Well, we've got you covered. For shipping, look into ICS, and CSL, for information, pricing, and customer service.

If you're planning on purchasing new household items, we've included the many furniture and appliance stores around Tutuila, the main island of American Samoa.

While we weren't able to actually answer the question for you (each situation is unique), hopefully we've been able to provide you with the information you need to make the choice that's right for you and make the process a little less intimidating and overwhelming.

For more information on shipping and packing, head over to AmSamFam.com for a detailed list of packing instructions provided to us by ICS.

Let us know if you've used one of these shipping options and how it worked out for you.

ARE WE READY TO MOVE OUT TO ANCHOR? 10 DAYS to Design a Water Catchment System and Fix Our Dinghy

THE DOCK IN PAGO PAGO HARBOR IS GETTING A FACELIFT, WHAT DOES THAT MEAN FOR US ON OUR LIVE ABOARD SAILBOAT?

Thanks to our sponsor, Skillshare for supporting our channel. The first 1,000 people to use this link will get a 1-month free trial of Skillshare:

When we decided to buy our 1974 Ketch sailboat, we knew that someday we might have to survive at anchor, meaning we would have no power or water hookups, but we were in for a surprise this past week when we received a letter informing us that we had TEN days to be disconnected from the dock!

We've been scrambling to figure out a water catchment system and either fix our old dinghy that has completely fallen apart or find a new dinghy and outboard motor on the small island of Tutuila, the main island of American Samoa.

See our creative solution to our water problem and the not-so-pretty solution to our dinghy problem, we're just hoping they both work when it comes time to cast off and anchor out in Pago Pago Harbor.

Are we ready?? Only time will tell.

Surfing with the FIRST Female SURFER to Represent America Samoa

I recently visited Hawaii, and during my time there I spent the day with Lucy Jarrard, the first female surfer to represent America Samoa in the International Surfing Association, who is competing in an Olympic Qualifier in El Salvador. When a surfer gains enough points from this series, they move their way up to the highest level of professional surfing. This qualifying series will qualify Lucy for the World Championship Tour (WCT)!

In this video, Lucy shares her story and passion for surfing, and takes us to the Mermaid Caves for cliff jumping and surfing in Waikiki in Oahu, Hawaii. It was incredible experiencing the island of Hawaii from her eyes and hearing how her ocean-loving family played a pivotal role in her surfing background.

If you'd like to support Lucy's dreams in her surfing journey, you can donate to her GoFundMe! Your support and contributions make it possible for her to surf for American Samoa. Your donations will go directly to training, food and lodging, surf equipment, and further travel expenses for contests.

I hope you enjoy this travel video to Hawaii and Lucy's story!
