10 Things NOT to Do in Romania

Get more Tips here!

There’s a whole lot to do in Romania. Of course, to make the most out of your Romanian holiday, you should consider following these 10 Things not to do for avoiding trouble.

1. Don’t Sleep on the Romanian People
Romanian people have a reputation for warmth and hospitality and their sense of humor isn’t what you’d expect at all.

2. Don’t Talk About Dracula
Yes, Romania was once home to a bloodthirsty conqueror named Vlad Dracul, a man who just loved sticking people on pikes. You might be there to visit Dracula’s home town, but the people know about the guy and he kind of bores them.

3. Don’t Zone Out When You’re in a Cab
A lot of taxi drivers will try to take advantage of you for being out of your element . Just pay attention to the route your driver is taking and the pricing labels listed in the cab itself.

4. Don’t Forget Bribe Money
It’s not uncommon for doctors or police officers to expect a little gratuity just to do their job correctly. A lot of bribes can run you around $100, but in life-threatening emergencies, it can increase. That’s not true of every state professional, but it does happen.

5. Don’t Flash Your Valuables in the Open
Romania has some issues with petty theft and pickpocketing. As a result, keep your valuables out of site as much as possible and never keep your money where it can be easily plucked from a pocket.

6. Don’t Forget Your Dictionary
While a significant portion of the Romania population does speak English, major locations don’t often have signs in English. So, when you’re trying to navigate the country, it’s a good idea to have a dictionary on hand.

7. Don’t Go Partying Lightly
If you have the opportunity to go drinking with some locals, you should know that even on week nights, drinking can go late into the night; at weddings, dancing until the sun comes up is expected.

8. Don’t Expect to Enjoy Driving
Romania is undeniably beautiful. Unfortunately, it’s highly likely that your trip to said natural beauty will be somewhat tarnished thanks to Romania’s shoddy infrastructure. The roads are minefields of pot holes and missing gaps.

9. Don’t Leave Without Visiting an Old Village
You shouldn’t leave the country without taking in some of Romania’s rich cultural history, such as the hovels in Transylvania that have gone relatively unchanged for hundreds of years, or the Ardeal’s picturesque towns.

10. Don’t Expect People to Withhold Private Information
The Romanian people will gladly tell you private information soon after you meet them. Don’t be put off by it; just roll with the punches and enjoy yourself. That kind of candid behavior is too rare to be rebuffed.

Where do you want to know what not to do in next?

Do Not Make these Travel Mistakes in Romania ???????? Bucharest

Romania, Bucharest: if you are traveling to Romania do not make these mistakes: 1) Do not rent an apartment in the old town of Bucharest cause you risk finding a not stable building - I'll make a specific video about that - you don't wanna be there during the super common earthquakes in that area; 2) Don't rent a scooter thinking that will be cheaper than Uber; 3) Do not travel in the weekend unless you love being stuck next to million people; 4) buy train and bus tickets in advance 5) if they have no seat on the train, ask for a standing seat and hope that you'll be lucky; 6) Subscribe to my channel for more travel tips ;)

Top 10 Things to in Bucharest, Romania

TOP 10 THINGS TO DO IN BUCHAREST, #romania
#Bucharest, a #city of #culture in perpetual motion, has been influenced by earthquakes, war, and a dictator's whims. And now, amid a building boom, a fresh wave of flashy façade design and rising structures is springing up year after year.
However, large swaths of the early twentieth-century city called #Little Paris for its Beaux-Arts-style palaces, government buildings, and #museums may still be found. Bucharest in #europe is full of wonders, such as lovely fresco-covered #churches hidden behind communist housing towers. Some of these churches were destroyed in the 1980s when the city was rebuilt to resemble a #European Pyongyang, and most were spared by being relocated in their entirety to backstreets.

ROMANIA ???????? - is very UNDERRATED! (Watch This Before Visiting)

Have you ever thought of visiting Romania? Many people say it's not on their list of places to visit - but, it should be!! In this video, we share with you our Final Thoughts on Romania (covering the food, beer, transportation, and top sites) and go over the top Places to Visit. We traveled through Romania for 2 months and during that time had the opportunity to explore 8 different cities. We go through each of the cities we visited and share our final thoughts on each.

We started our journey in Bucharest, the capital of Romania. Here is where we first discovered what wonderful things we had in store for us over the next two months - from the amazing food selections, numerous craft beer options, and beautiful architecture. Next, we made our way to Brasov located in the heart of Transylvania. While here we took day trips to visit both Peles Castle and Bran Castle (Dracula's Castle) both wonderful day trips from this location. As we make our way through Transylvania, we discover Dracula's birthplace and his hometown of Sighisoara. Sibiu then became our home base for 2 weeks which was perfect as there was plenty to see and do here. You will find plenty to do in the old town and wonderful walking streets filled with restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and bakeries. We ended our final 2 weeks in Romania with stops in Alba Iulia, Cluj, Oradea, and Timisoara. Join us on our journey and see all there is to discover in the beautiful country of Romania!

5 Things American Tourists Shouldn't Wear in Europe

Please Note: Young People Wear Many of These Styles Throughout Europe. These tips are geared toward 35+ year old travelers. Thanks for watching!

Grab a Wolters World Shirt

Heading to Europe & Not Sure What to Pack? Here are a few things that my fellow US travelers may want to avoid packing if they are traveling to Europe.
1. Baseball Caps: Europeans in general do not wear baseball caps, especially backwards. You would be better served to wear a more traditional hat. You will see an occasional NY Yankee hat, but why not buy the fancy hat you always wanted instead?
2. Athletic Wear: Europeans tend to wear athletic wear to do sports, not to wear around town. There is a trend of more athleisurewear in Europe, but it is not to the extent that there is in US.
3. Khakis: the omnipresent US male pant choice is not something you will see too often in Europe. Go for colored pants or jeans. If you want khaki like pants wear Chinos instead of Dockers. The pants you will see are a thinner cut or skinnier fit than in the US.
4. Oversized US University Sweatshirts.
5. Sport Shoes or High Heals: US sport shoes and white socks are not quite as popular in Europe as they are in the US. You may be better off with Urban Street shoes like Vans instead. Also, women should be careful with high heels as with all the cobblestone it is easy to hurt your ankles.

We travel with a Microsoft Surface everywhere we go. I edit my videos on it & use it to backup my pictures and vides while we travel. It’s light and the best travel laptop on the market in my opinion.

We use Sony Alpha series cameras to film our videos. They are compact so you don’t look like a super tourist when you take great pictures and videos while you travel.

We use Manfrotto Tripods. They are compact, travel well, and honestly I would not use another tripod for my nice cameras.

SIBIU IS THE HIDDEN GEM OF ROMANIA | TOP 10 THINGS TO DO IN SIBIU, ROMANIA

Sibiu, Romania is a hidden gem of the Balkans; and there is no doubt that this Transylvanian city is the most unique city we visited in Romania. The lower town, the upper town, the Large/Great Square (Piața Mare), Old Town Council Tower, The Roman-Catholic Church, the Little/Small Square (Piața Mică), Huet Square (Piața Huet), Bridge of Lies, and ASTRA Open Air Museum are some of the best attractions in Sibiu. However, this video narrows down the TOP 10 things to do in Sibiu, Romania.

0:00 - Intro
0:22 - Wander The Lower Town
1:30 - Visit ASTRA Open Air Museum
3:05 - Explore Piața Mică
3:20 - Try Traditional Romanian Food
3:40 - Stare back at Sibiu's Eyes
4:28 - Climb The Council Tower
5:49 - Walk the Bridge of Lies
6:14 - Pass through Piața Aurarilor
6:52 - Explore Piața Mare
7:32 - Admire Piața Huet

If you want to visit Sibiu and try all of the things on our list you should check out the link below for information on each of them like pricing, seasonal hours, history and more:

[We recommend visiting Sibiu to anyone of any age. In a few words, it's enchanting, medieval, colorful, crisp, and elegant.]

Sibiu is known as the town with eyes because of distinguishable eye-shaped windows in the city's large building that appear to be looking at you. The medieval architecture of Sibiu, well preserved from the 12th and 13th century, is painted with pastel colors and topped with elegant churches and bell towers. We loved spotting them for the entire month we lived in Sibiu and realized how much character it adds to the city.

If any of you noticed, we provided a stamp of approval with our names on it for the restaurant Charlie's Speciality Coffee and Brunch in the Lower Town of Sibiu. This personal virtual stamp of approval is something we have decided to award only THE BEST restaurants/meals we experience around the world. Charlie's was deserving of this stamp, the first one we have ever made! Look out for more in videos to come :)

Living here for a month during November to December couldn't have lined up better with one of the city's main attractions, the Sibiu Christmas Market, which we visited nearly a dozen times. The Christmas Market is in Piața Mare and truly is the number one highlight of Sibiu this time of year. It really makes Sibiu, Romania a must visit in the winter.

The little square, Piața Mică, felt like a true central point of attractions in the city. Its bowl shape and large area made it feel wide open, and you could spot some of Sibiu's top things to do (on our list) in all directions. Bridge of Lies and The Council Tower top the list for what is to be found in the small square. The Grand Square and Huet Square can be reached in a few minutes walking, as well as the lower town. Yes, all these attractions on our life in Sibiu are this close together, except for ASTRA Open Air Museum.

The ASTRA Open Air Museum just outside of Sibiu was certainly its own unique experience from anything else on our list. The 10 km long outdoor museum had hundreds of replicated medieval (folkloric) Romanian buildings and houses from all different regions of Romania.
This museum is the largest of its kind (outdoor) in Europe and 2nd largest in the world!

Honestly, as I explore other countries since visiting Sibiu, it climbs my list higher and higher. I have become sure that it is one of the top 3 coolest cities I have ever been to. -Griffin

We have visited and explored 3 major cities in Romania: Brasov, Bucharest and Sibiu. We are planning on returning to all three again, and also visiting (for the first time) Cluj Napoca and more of the Transylvanian countryside. We are not sure when we will be back, but we are certain that we will.

Look out for our next video where we try some tasty traditional Romanian food around Sibiu and Brasov.????????
