10 Most Beautiful African Cities

You Won't Believe This is Africa !!
Home to more than 50 different countries, the African continent has some of the world's best cities to explore. Vibrant, eclectic, and culturally rich, many African cities are modern affairs set to a beautiful backdrop.

South Africa's Cape Town, for instance, is often considered one of the world's most beautiful cities for its mix of natural beauty - there's a 6,000-foot table-shaped mountain in the center and a string of white-sand beaches - and buzzy atmosphere. Visitors can expect stylish hotels, delectable restaurants with global cuisine, and plenty of cultural attractions and adventurous things to do.

Other African cities, like Marrakesh, Morocco, offer the best of old and new. In Marrakesh, you will find an up-and-coming art scene, five-star resorts, and contemporary restaurants set next to ancient bazaars, souks, and markets.

And Africa has cities for all styles of travelers, from fast-paced and sprawling metropolises like Egypt's Cairo, Nigeria's Lagos, and South Africa's Johannesburg to cities like Stone Town on the island of Zanzibar, where the pace of life moves slow.

Selected for their diversity, beauty, and reasons a tourist would want to include them on a vacation, here we present our list of Africa's best cities.

How rich is Africa [2021 UPDATES]

GDP, or Gross domestic product, is the total monetary or market value of all the finished goods and services produced within a country’s borders in a specific time period. It provides an economic snapshot of a country, used to estimate the size of an economy and growth rate.

Although GDP is generally used to measure the wealth of the country, it has limitations when it comes to determining the state of living of the country, and it is mainly influenced by population, because the higher the population, the higher the number of hands to produce products and services.

Here are ten most richest countries of Africa, measured in GDP.

Number1
Nigeria, US$496.12 Billion
Officially, the Federal Republic of Nigeria it is a most populous country in Africa, found in the West African region. Nigeria is one of the world's most ethnically and linguistically diverse nations; covering an area of 923,769 square kilometers, with a population of over 211 million.
This country is Africa’s leading economy, and the 30th largest economy by GDP volume in the entire world. However, Nigeria's economy is highly dependent on oil and is therefore very vulnerable to fluctuate with the crude oil prices and production.
In 2020, the GDP was over US$ 400 billion, generated by the services, agricultural sector, crude oil and mining industry.

Number 2
South Africa, US$ 386.73 Billion
Often called 'the rainbow nation'. the Republic of South Africa is one of the most ethnically diverse countries in Africa. South Africa has a highly developed economy and advanced economic infrastructure, making the country the leading African economy and home to 75% of the largest African companies.
South Africa is rich in mineral resources, The country is the world's largest producer and exporter of gold, platinum, chrome and manganese, the second largest palladium producer and the fourth largest producer of diamonds. mining and manufacturing accounts for around 2.2% and 2% respectively of the GDP.
According to the International Monetary Fund's, the economic growth is expected to pick up in 2021, estimated at 3.1% of the GDP, and to stabilize in 2022 at 2%.

Number 3
Egypt, US$ 331.36 Billion
Egypt is a country in North Africa, borders the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea, neighbored by countries include Libya, the Gaza Strip, and Sudan. According to the International Monetary Fund's, April 2021 forecast, GDP growth is projected to contract further to 2.5% in 2021 and recover to 5.7% in 2022.

The best skylines in Africa 2021. The cities with most skyscrapers in Africa. Welcome to part 6 of the Worlds Tallest Cities! If you haven’t already, be sure to watch part 1-5 first. You might also check out my travel site:

Africa is the continent with the lowest number of skyscrapers, it barely made it to even include six cities with skyscrapers in the list. Africa has only 17 skyscrapers (over150m) in total. 5 skyscrapers built before year 2000 and 12 skyscrapers built after year 2000. There are two cities that barely made it to the top 6 list, so they share 6th place, Lagos and Cairo.

Correction: Tanzania's capital is Dodoma, not Dar es Salaam. Dar es Salaam is still the biggest city.

The Most Expensive Cities In Africa. How 5 Africa Cities Became Most Expensive Places To Live In.

The latest ranking showcases the top cities on the continent for expatriates.
Mercer is the leading provider of data on cost of living and housing for employees sent to work abroad. As part of the ongoing research, Mercer released the annual rankings of the cost of living in more than 200 of the most prevalent assignment destinations for expatriate employees. The rankings demonstrate how currency fluctuation and shifts in the prices of goods and services can affect the purchasing power of expatriate employees. Multinational companies rely on Mercer for timely and accurate information to compensate their skilled professionals who take on international assignments.
1. N'djamena, Chad
N'Djamena, has an estimated population of just under 1 million. Only 26% of the country's people live in urban areas. It ranks 11th on the global scale. Chad has an unevenly distributed population, with the highest density in the Logone Occidental Region and the capital, raising the cost of housing. Essentially, the vast majority of Chad's land mass is covered by Sahara desert and insecurity around lake Chad has forced many to the capital city.
2. Victoria, Seychelles
Economic growth in Seychelles has moved the tourist destination country to upper-middle-income status. Victoria is 14th costliest city in the world. High cost of goods and services in its capital city Victoria is largely due to the in flock of tourists who flood the tiny Island who purchase items without stiff competitions in a regulated economy. In Victoria, you are likely going to be charged based on the dollar rate, hence poor purchasing power.
3. Kinshasa, DRC
The capital city of the East African country is 22nd on the list making it the third on the continent. The city's population is estimated around 11.8 million. Economists project growth of 4.7% in 2019, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast, and 4.8% in 2020.
4. Liberaville, Gabon
The city ranks 24th on the list and like many other countries the double-digit inflation for a predominantly rural population makes the capital difficult for dwellers.
5. Lagos, Nigeria
With a population of 24 million, Lagos is fast becoming a cosmopolitan city, yet with features of shanty towns. Housing and poor urban planning and management, as well as, high population density makes life expensive. To live like a middle class, you need more than just a job. The concentration of industries has also made the city the last resort for individuals seeking greener pastures away from the hinterlands.

Djibouti is the most expensive country in Africa while its neighbour Eritrea in the Horn of Africa enjoys the lowest cost of living, according to data compiled by the World Bank.
Djibouti ranks as the 60th costliest nation in the world, putting its commodity and services prices ahead of the rest of the continent. The most second expensive country in Africa is the Indian Ocean archipelago of Seychelles ranked at position 63 globally while oil-rich Angola completes the list of top-three economies on the continent with the highest cost of living.
This is according to the World Bank’s new cost of goods and services statistics collected under the International Comparison Programme, comparing 2017 data.
Nigeria and South Africa, Africa’s largest economies, are ranked at position 89 and 139 respectively on the list of world’s expensive jurisdictions.
The World Bank collects this data on prices across the globe to compare the levels of poverty and well-being of people across nations.
The bank works with statistical agencies of each country to gather prices on a set of commonly purchased goods and services, including food and beverages, clothing and footwear, housing, transport, communication and restaurant and hotels.
In East Africa, Tanzania has the highest cost of living, ranked at 125 worldwide, followed by Rwanda (130) while Kenya, the region’s largest economy, comes in third at position 133 globally.
