10 Most Isolated Places to Live in the World

Get more Tips here!

Sometimes we tend to exaggerate and say that we live in the middle of nowhere, but these people... they REALLY live in the middle of nowhere. And, for you to get a better idea of what we mean, here are the 10 most isolated habited places in the world.

1. LA RINCONADA, PERU
This is the highest human settlement on earth. You can find it at 17,000 feet above sea level in the Peruvian Andes. It has a population of 50,000 and their economy relies on the gold they mine from nearby gold mines. The town lacks plumbing and sanitary drainage systems but does have mercury contamination from the mining activities as well. So, that’s a hard
place to live in.

2. CHANGTANG, TIBET
It's known as The Roof of the World, at 9,000 feet. The winters are cold and Arctic-like.
They live as nomadic pastoralists, being known as 'Changpa', or 'Drokpa' together with snow leopards and yaks. Ah, and, if you want to go there, you’ll need a permit to enter the area.

3. VILLA LAS ESTRELLAS, CHILE
It has a summer population of 150 and a winter population of 80. There is a ‘Correos de Chile’ post office staffed in the summer by a postal worker and by the command of the base in the winter. And they even have a Villa Las Estrellas Primary School with 3 computers AND internet access! (that part is actually quite surprising…)

4. EDINBURGH OF THE SEVEN SEAS, SAINT HELENA
It's the most remote permanent settlement on Earth, being 2,173 kilometres from the nearest other human settlement, on Saint Helena. In 1961, the whole population left because of the eruption of a volcano, but most of them came back and rebuilt the place in 1963.

5. SUPAI VILLAGE, ARIZONA
This is the most remote community in the United States being the only place in the United States where mail is still carried out by mules. Located within the Grand Canyon, it is only accessible by foot, pack animal or helicopter, and as of the 2010 census, the CDP had a population of 208.

6. COOBER PEDY, AUSTRALIA
This is the opal capital of the world because of the quantity of precious opals that are mined there. The name Coober Pedy comes from the local Aboriginal term kupa-piti, which means boys' waterhole. Visitors attractions include the mines, the graveyard and the underground churches. And there are several motels offering underground accommodation

7. LONGYEARBYEN, NORWAY
This is the world's northernmost settlement of any kind with more than 1,000 permanent residents. They live a combination of an Arctic climate tempered by the North Atlantic Current, and experience midnight sun on half of the year and polar night the other half, so it's
a bit crazy. Then they have strange laws such as ban on cats, a restriction on how much alcohol an individual can purchase on a monthly basis, and a requirement that any individuals venturing outside carry a rifle for protection against polar bears. Also if you die there they'll have to take your corpse to another town, they can't bury you there because your body will stay forever.

8. PALMERSTON, COOK ISLANDS
There is no safe entry for large ships and it enjoys a tropical climate but is exposed to severe tropical cyclones. 62 people live in Palmerston, all but three descended from English sailor William Marsters so there are still many family links and common ancestors between these atolls, because William Marsters and his three wifes had quite a large family of some 23 children, whose descendants now inhabit Palmerston.

9. SIWA OASIS, EGYPT
This is an urban oasis between the Qattara Depression and the Great Sand Sea. It is one of Egypt's most isolated settlements with about 33,000 people, mostly Berbers, who developed a unique culture and a distinct dialect called Siwi. It's the home to an oracle of Ammon, where you can still visit the ruins.

10. WHITTIER, ALASKA
In 2016, they were 214 people living there. It is very popular with tourists because of its
abundance of wildlife and natural beauty. Just imagine, Whittier is located within the
Chugach National Forest, the second-largest national forest in the U.S. However, the only land access is through the Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel, a mixed-use road and rail
tunnel.

Do you know any other isolated habited place?

Have you ever wanted to just getaway? Are you tired of running into your ex and her new boyfriend Evan? Do you hate the fact that Evan knows more about wine than you know about anything? Well if you never want to see her, Evan, or pretty much anyone you know ever again, you should think about moving to one of the places on this list.

Or if you're trying to avoid touristy spots for your next vacation, and you hate the smell of sunblock, you might want to try visiting one of the most isolated places on Earth — some of which can only be accessed by boat or plane. So, leave the Pontiac Aztek at home and visit one or more of these places.
Maybe even buy a home. Mortgages would be dirt cheap.

The most remote island on earth is looking for employees

Tristan da Cunha is situated midway between South Africa and South America and is looking for farmers- well an agricultural advisor to be specific. Report by Sarah Duffy.

10 Most ISOLATED Places You Can TRAVEL TO!

Have you ever wanted to get away from it all? To just pack your bags and go somewhere nobody has even heard of? Well luckily for you Destination Tips has got you, with some places so remote you may have trouble getting back!

1. ITTOQQORTOORMIIT
No, it’s not a typo, this place really exists. Situated on a remote part of Greenland’s coastline, this tiny village has very colorful houses and a population of just 350 people. Travel by boat is only possible in summer when temperatures only just rise above freezing whilst in winter when temperatures drop below 0 degrees Fahrenheit, helicopters are the only way out!

2. Cape York, Australia
It seems odd that Australia should have isolated areas but actually, most of the country is a barren wilderness. Cape York is mostly untouched rain forests and savannas and has a tropical and monsoonal climate so an offroad is essential for transport but can only be used in the dry season.

3. La Rinconada, Peru.
Located on the top of a mountain at around 17,000ft above sea level, La Rinconada is always cold, with summer temperatures barely getting above freezing. The gold mine attracted people to the area and with a population of 30,000, it is the highest permanent settlement in the world.

4. Longyearbyen, Norway
Also known as Longyear town it gets its name from John Munro Longyear who started coal mining operations here in 1906. In summer off-road cars can be used but in winter, snowmobiles are needed, so much so that Longyearbyen actually has more snowmobiles the residents.

5. Kerguelen islands
These remote islands are located in the Antarctic and are subject to high winds and rough seas all year round, it’s no surprise then that they are also known as the desolation islands too. It has no airports and the only way to leave is via boat with the nearest permanently populated location being Madagascar, 2,100 MILES AWAY!

6. Pitcairn Island
Situated in the south pacific sea almost equidistant between Peru and New Zealand this volcanic island is home for around 50 people. The only way to get there is by ship and then by longboat because it only has one shallow harbor and the remaining shoreline is jagged rocks.

7. Bouvet Island
Hailed the most remote island in the world, it is at least 1000 miles away from any other island. The only place to land on the island was created by a rock slide in the 1950's and is now home to a weather station. Considering that 93%of the island is covered by glacier it’s no wonder it’s uninhabited.

8. Oymyakon, Russia
Oymyakon is one of the world’s coldest permanently inhabited settlements. The lowest temperature recorded there was -89.9 degrees Fahrenheit whilst the highest was 94 degrees Fahrenheit making it one of the five places on earth to have a 180-degree temperature range.

9. Devon Island
With an area of 21,331 square miles, it’s the largest uninhabited island on the earth and is home to the Haughton impact crater which measures 14 miles in diameter and was created by a meteorite about a mile in diameter. Its Mars-like surface has attracted scientists as well as NASA’s Haughton-Mars project.

10. Tritan Da Cunha
The most remote inhabited archipelago in the world, Tristan is only accessible by boat, which from Cape Town South Africa, takes 6 days. So if you’re thinking of spending a couple of weeks visiting don’t forget to allow for 12 days' travel time!

Which Isolated place would you like to visit?
Comment Below!

Tristan Da Cunha is The World's Most Isolated Town. The Most Remote Community on Earth!

Talk about Small Town life! This is the most remote village / town in the world...
It take 6 days by boat to get to Tristan Da Cunha, a small island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Despite that, it's got a town / village of about 200 people who live there full time! luckily, the news and internet got there in the 2000's!!!

Most Isolated Homes Around The World

We have all thought about living in the middle of nowhere - a life with no nosy neighbours, no bin day battles and no noise... and for some plucky property owners, this is more than just wishful thinking.
Everyone can use some peace and quiet now and then. A camping trip or a weekend in a cabin in the woods can usually take care of that. Certain people would rather live on the fringes of society. Nothing sounds better to them than a house with no neighbors for miles in the middle of nowhere. For some people, this isn’t just a fantasy, but their actual lives. Check out out some of the most isolated homes from around the world. Isolated places aren’t built just for living in, so we’ll take a look at some other remote places as well

The most remote inhabited island in the world ????

Welcome to the most isolated place on earth.

This island is the world's most isolated inhabited location. It is also one of the few places on Earth without a physical border with another land mass. It’s located in the South Atlantic Ocean approximately 1,700 miles from Cape Town in South Africa and 2,400 miles from Mar del Plata in South America. Welcome to Tristan da Cunha. One of the least populated places in the world, with only 300 people.

This is a self-governing territory of the United Kingdom with its own constitution.
The only way to travel to Tristan is by ship from Cape Town, but only a limited number of berths are available.

The island has a circular shape with a 21-mile-long coastline. Despite its small size, it is undoubtedly an interesting and unusual destination to explore.
