Riga for just 48 hours

Riga, the capital of Latvia, is not only the crown jewel of Latvia, but also of the Baltics. Riga’s Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Riga has more than 600 000 inhabitants, making it the largest city in the Baltic States.

Riga is also known as an architectural jewel – a city where you can see churches from the city’s origins, medieval buildings in the Old Town, unique examples of Art Nouveau, as well as wooden architecture that has survived the centuries and modern architectural jewels.

Inspired by a Black Martyr - The House of the Blackheads - Riga - Latvia - Travel Guide

There's a fairly secretive society found throughout the Baltics called the Blackheads. In Riga, they built a House many centuries ago. In this video, I explore The House of the Blackheads. It was renovated just before the last Millenium having been destroyed in World War 2. Some say the knights of King Arthur were inspired by the Black Martyr Saint Maurice. Join me while I explore this fascinating house and learn things I never previously knew.

I’m documenting a lot of travel lately simply for prosperity purposes - Its fantastic that I can share those experiences also via YouTube.
Thank you kindly for watching, commenting, liking and even sharing these videos I try to respond to every comment (good and bad).

I am not working for any tourist board, government or sponsor so the views in this video are entirely my own.

Riga nightlife walking tour August 2020

Taking a walk in Old Town.

Bars have to close early because of COVID restrictions, but people are still making the best of it, hanging out on the street and terraces until late. Luckily the pandemic has not affected Latvia significantly, although precautions are still being taken by the government

Riga's most BEAUTIFUL spots + Europe's BIGGEST Indoor Market

We venture into our second Baltic country - Latvia - and explore the capital city of Riga. We usually do walking tours in capital cities but this time we take things slow and just wander around using Google Maps as our guide. We visit Riga Central Market (and eat loads of delicious food), see the Three Brothers buildings, the Black Cat of Riga, Riga Castle and have a lovely afternoon at Aspara Tea House.

Riga, Latvia

If you haven’t already added Latvia to your travel bucket list, you should!

We spent a weekend in Riga, Latvia, which has a stunning old town with cobbled streets, delicious hearty food, great museums, an interesting history, and an iconic nightlife.

The nightlife is so great, in fact, we almost missed our flight home in the morning...

Riga is very affordable – hotel rooms are cheap and cheerful, drinks are cheap, and you can find an inexpensive meal – perfect for travellers on a budget.

Here’s how we spent a weekend in Riga, and if you’re wondering what you can do there, here are our top recommendations:

Free walking tour – Riga Free Tours:
KGB Corner House Tour
Spend time walking around the beautiful old town of Riga
Skyline Bar – 26th floor of Radisson Blu Hotel for amazing cocktails and views.
Riga Central Market (UNESCO World Heritage site)
LIDO restaurants – the Wetherspoons of Riga (cheap and tasty Latvian food)
Riga Pub Crawl – it was one of the BEST pub crawls we’ve been on! (and we’ve been on a lot...) Highly recommend. We had a crazy night and the guides were fantastic. You’ll need to book in advance as they don’t run tours every night – it depends on interest.

Overall, we absolutely loved Riga, Latvia. It really exceeded our expectations, and if you can visit, we’d highly recommend making the trip.

Any questions about Riga? Leave them below!
