10 Cheapest Countries to Live in Asia

Have you ever wondered of leaving work and everything behind and just hop on the plane to find the cheapest Asian countries to live in? Previously, we shared to you our prime list of the cheapest countries to live in the world. This time it’s going to be different, because we are travelling to the Far East to learn Kung Fu. Oh, I mean, we’ll study the cheapest islands and countries to make a perfect home of- in Asia! But, seriously why choose Asia to live in the first place? Because of the untouched beauty of Mother Nature is mostly here in Asia and it’s amazingly cheap to live your life to the fullest in Asia. So, why not?
We all had those moments of renting a place somewhere in Thailand so we can enjoy the daily Thai massages, or in the Philippines to capture the scenic beaches, or in India to embrace the wilderness, or of any spot in the gems of Asia so we can unleash our inner adventure beasts. Although, don’t expect Japan to be cheap (that’s why it’s not included in our list) because the daily cost of living in Japan is about $70 as of today. We’ll be talking of the cheap- as cheap as $17 to $30 for daily expenses. Asia is a great place to start your own business too because the cost of production is low and manufacturing wouldn’t be a problem here for the strong number of manpower. The young and the not-so young generations who do a lot of backpacking might already know that hopping from one Asian country to another is as easy as buying a cheap plane ticket. Some (or should we say, most) of these travellers just gave it up and chose to marry the Asian country they were just travelling in before but now, converted it as their home. I don’t know with you, but it could be your love of Chinese food or the tropical warm weather that lures you to move your couch in Asia but to be honest, there’s so much more than the box of hot dumplings you are thinking of. Asia is a pure continent filled with blissful places to visit and to live in: picturesque landscapes, respectful people, rich culture, exotic food, booming businesses, and most of all. Most of all, Asia offers you a one of a kind perks- high income and very low cost of living!
So whether you are finding a new cheap place to live in abroad or you’re just being kicked out of the house by your loving parents, here are the top cheapest countries you can consider to live in Asia:

The Cheapest Places to Live in the World in 2019.
In International Living’s Annual Global Retirement Index 2019, we ranked the 25 best retirement havens in the world, where you can live comfortably for less than you can in the US. And while all of these destinations are affordable, we have ranked the most cost-effective havens in the “Cost of Living” category of the Index.
This is possibly our most definitive category in the Index, due to the ease of getting hard numbers. Each of our on-the-ground correspondents fills out an extensive cost-of-living questionnaire, tailored to the needs and wants of an expat retiree. The category evaluates things like day-to-day expenses—from the cost of a flight back to the US groceries, rent, movie theater tickets, eating out, garbage collection, gas, gym membership, and all the hidden and often unconsidered costs.
Here are the five countries that score highest in the Cost of Living category of the 2019 Annual Global Retirement Index.

Living in an foreign country for months at a time gives a person the ability to work and enjoy the new surroundings.
Designing, writing, programming, teaching English, or working in the hospitality industry is an ideal way to make a living abroad.
Many are even choosing to retire in these faraway lands because the cost of living is more affordable than living in the United States.
With the American dollar strong compared to other currencies, moving or retiring abroad could be a smart strategy to stretch your retirement savings further.

If you're looking for a super-thrifty place to live with dirt-cheap housing, low-cost groceries and wallet-friendly utility bills,
look no further than Numbeo's Cost of Living Index, which rates the affordability of each country according to the people who live there.
Here are the 10 cheapest countries to live in the world for 2018.
1. South Africa.
2. India. (Note: India is home to 1.25 billion residents, not 25 billion. I'm sorry about my mistake.)
3. Slovakia.
4. Romania.
5. Saudi Arabia.
6. Bosnia-Herzegovina.
7. Nepal.
8. Paraguay.
9. Bulgaria.

Are you tired of making chump-change in a job you don’t like? Fed up of doing the 9 to 5 in your hometown and itching for something new?
Have you had it with living in a flea-bitten box even though you’re spending more than half your salary on rent?
You don’t have to live like this! Even though it may sound crazy, why not consider a complete change of scenery and instead, work overseas?

To live in Asia is a great thing even for Westerners; it only matters which country you choose for your living.
Cost of living in Asia is not that high as compared to the Western Countries.
Moreover, some of the countries in Asia are peaceful and safe for people to live in.
Japan, Singapore, and the Philippines are a few of the most peaceful countries with a low crime rate and high index of human safety.
Japan is one of ten most peaceful countries in the World.
Some countries like Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Maldives are tourist’s top destinations in the World.
I have compiled a list of the 10 best countries to live in Asia; the list is based on a few merits such as quality of life, cost of living, safety, and environment.

Is Thailand the Cheapest Place in the World to Retire? Living on $400/month Vlog 1

I believe you can retire cheaply in Thailand and live a pretty good lifestyle, perhaps better than any place in the world and still have a good quality of life. The food is fantastic, the rooms are quite comfortable, the health care is very cheap and affordable (more on that in future videos).

You don't have to go as low as my budget, in fact you could do this at $250 per month I believe. But if you were to spend say $800 per month you could have a very nice lifestyle and still be putting money away in the bank. In America you would be hard pressed to save anything or live a good lifestyle with social security when rent for a simple efficiency would cost you $800 per month in an average city.

It's not just for retirees but anyone who wants a long time holiday like seasonal workers who only work half of the year, or digital nomads, or travellers around Asia who want a home base in Thailand to rest their weary legs. Thailand can function very well for all of these people

SOUTH EAST ASIA COST OF LIVING | Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia & Philippines Travel | Digital Nomad

Cost of living in South East Asia! We compare Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia & Philippines expenses for digital nomads... ✈ Want to travel full-time? Here's how —

South East Asia is obviously larger than Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia & the Philippines, but we've spent extensive time in all 4 of these spots as digital nomads, so we're educated enough to be able to share some costs and expenses with you.

Specifically, today we'll be comparing Chiang Mai in Thailand, Bali in Indonesia, Hoi An in Vietnam and Boracay in the Philippines. All of these spots are very different and obviously this is our first hand experience, but hopefully our travel vlogs and cost comparisons are able to highlight some useful details for you.

Chiang Mai is one of our favourite places in the world, not just in Thailand. Incredibly low living costs so we recommend you start your digital nomad journey there (or in Thailand) because it's so easy to get apartments, the food is amazing, the culture is beautiful and it's just so simple to settle in.

Hoi An is the highlight of Vietnam, in our minds at least, however it is a bit tricky to get established and settle there because of the lack of supermarkets. It's a great way of life though, beautiful place, costs are low and there are plenty of other digital nomads there to hang out with.

Cost of living in Bali can be cheap, but it's often more expensive than people think - especially compared to the rest of Indonesia. So how cost effective is Canggu really to live or base as a digital nomad? That really depends on how you plan to live, our vlogs show a few times we've visited and each with very different styles of living. Be sure to check those travel vlogs to see what you think.

Boracay in the Philippines is heaven on earth, probably even more so now after the recent closure. It's open again now and hopefully a few of the issues with transport, roads, hustle and waste have been fixed! Because of that isolation from the main land (Philippines is over 7,000 islands though!) it can be more expensive than other spots, the internet in the Philippines ins't flash and for that reason alone there's not to many other digital nomads.

The 10 Cheapest Places to Live in Australia.

Living in any of Australia’s capital cities is incredibly expensive. In Sydney, for example, house prices have surged past the $1 million mark after six consecutive months of declines. The median house price in the city was $1,021,968 during the second quarter of 2016 and, while it’s below last year’s record-breaking median house price of $1,032,899, it’s still far more than what the average person could afford.
Because of this, it’s advisable to look for a place to live outside capital cities, where rent and house prices are much cheaper but the quality of life is still decent enough for young professionals, growing families, and empty-nesters. We've compiled a list of the cheap places to live in Australia to help you choose the best area for yourself and your loved ones. These places are ranked not just by their housing prices but also according to their population, unemployment rate, and access to important services like healthcare and education.

Top 7 Countries in Asia!

Asia has been my home since 2013, when I moved to South Korea to teach English. Over the last 5 years, I've lived in Vietnam, the Philippines and currently Thailand -- and I've been to almost every country on the beautiful continent of Asia.

Each culture in Asia is very unique -- from religions to traditions, nature, history, cuisines and rituals -- and it provides endless opportunities to learn and discover. But above anything else, THE PEOPLE of Asia are the most hospitable and welcoming as they come.

Admittedly, it has been very hard to choose only 7 of my favorite Asian countries to feature in this video (because I truly love every place for a different reason) -- but when it all comes down to it, these would be my 7 favorite countries on this amazing place called Asia!

THE PHILIPPINES SOUTH KOREA, SINGAPORE, VIETNAM, NEPAL, INDONESIA, JAPAN

What would be your top 7 in Asia? Why? Please comment below and let's get the discussion started!

PS - I kept this video limited to East/South/Southeast Asian countries. While the Middle East and West/Central Asia are technically Asian countries, I consider them very culturally different. Iran and Tajikstan would be on this list if it was all of Asia!

Top Five Most Livable Cities in Southeast Asia for Expats

Do you know what are the top 5 most livable cities in Southeast Asia?

Contrary to common belief, Southeast Asia has amazing cities that offer Western travelers everything they might need - from amazing food to business opportunities and great Wi-Fi every step of the way.

Many expats aren't that eager to be based in this area due to lower living standards and considerable cultural differences, but it's the best time to be proven wrong.

Why go to Southeast Asia at all? Because it's the best place to be when you don't want to spend too much money and still live well.

In fact, this area of the world is more affordable than living in most other places on the planet, which can be motivation enough to at least visit.

If you're a business expat, all of the top 5 Southeast Asia cities can provide you with invaluable options for investment and partnership.

Bustling cities, new cultures and friendly welcoming people is what sells life in Southeast Asia, and for all the good reasons.

Some of the cities Andrew will talk about are known for being costly, but they are at the top of the list because they're incredibly organized, very clean and home to the business elite from all over the world.

Andrew used his ample travel experience to rank 5 most livable cities in Southeast Asia and here they are:

#5 1:20 Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
#4 2:30 Manila, Philippines
#3 4:40 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
#2 6:03 Hong Kong (China SAR)
#1 7:51 Singapore

Go to Vietnam to be surprised by how developed and welcoming Ho Chi Minh City is.

When you want to visit the Philippines, don't miss out on Manila, that, despite the general opinion, has a lot to offer to an expat thanks to its gradual westernization.

Kuala Lumpur is becoming the place to be for all entrepreneurs thanks to its business-oriented culture.

Hong Kong and Singapore are at the very top of the list, thanks to an outrageously good living standard and countless other perks they offer.

Naturally, living in Hong Kong or Singapore won't come cheap, but if you're coming here, you're not looking for cheap, you're looking for excellence.

Andrew also talks about a few honorable mentions that didn't make the list of the top 5 most livable cities in Southeast Asia and why it is so.

Want to know more? After you've watched the video, read our extensive article on this topic:

ABOUT NOMAD CAPITALIST

Andrew Henderson travels to nearly 30 countries every year to stay up to date on the latest legal strategies for entrepreneurs and investors to pay less tax, grow their money faster, and build their personal freedom.

Andrew started Nomad Capitalist to help people like you follow his five magic words: go where you're treated best. He has personally started foreign companies, opened offshore bank accounts, and obtained multiple second passports.

He also learned the hard way that perpetual information seeking is often the biggest barrier to getting the results you want. Many entrepreneurs spend months and even years constantly researching how to pay less in tax or live overseas, but are afraid to make the jump.

As a result, they get stuck and keep paying a fortune in taxes and never get the lifestyle they deserve.

Nomad Capitalist's Youtube channel is based on Andrew's vision that focusing on the end result, rather than the latest shiny object, is the best way to actually obtain the benefits of the Nomad Capitalist lifestyle.
