Zunyi, Guizhou, China
Zunyi, abbreviated as Zun, is a prefecture-level city in Guizhou Province, a provincial sub-center city and an important city in the Qianzhong City Cluster. By the end of 2019, the city has 3 districts, 7 counties, 2 ethnic autonomous counties, 2 escrow cities and 1 new district. That is: Xinpu New District, Honghuagang District, Huichuan District, Buzhou District, Tongzi County, Suiyang County, Zhengan County, Daozhen Gelao Miao Autonomous County, Muchuan Gelao Miao Autonomous County, Fenggang County, Meitan County, Yuqing County, Xishui County, Renhuai City and Chishui City. The city has 253 towns (streets) and 2,073 urban and rural communities, including 1,454 urban communities and 619 rural communities.In 2021, Zunyi's gross domestic product was 416.99 billion yuan, an increase of 10.3% over the previous year.
Zunyi is located in southwest China and northern Guizhou, south of Guiyang, north of Chongqing, west of Sichuan, in the core area and main corridor of the Chengdu-Chongqing-Guizhou-China economic zone corridor, the bridgehead, main position and pioneer area of Qian-Chongqing cooperation. Zunyi is a national demonstration area of tourism, the southwest region to undertake the north and south, connecting east and west, the important transportation hub to the sea. The territory has a subtropical monsoon climate, cool and humid all year round. With a total area of 30,762 square kilometers, the resident population of Zunyi is 660,675 according to the seventh census.
Zunyi is one of the first national historical and cultural cities, with the World Cultural Heritage Hailongtun and the World Natural Heritage Chishui Danxia, and enjoys the titles of China's Longevity Town, China's High Quality Green Tea Production Area, China's Famous Tea Town, and China's Guitar Manufacturing Town, and has won many awards such as National Civilized City, National Forest City, National Sanitary City, Model City of Double Support, China's Excellent Tourism City, and National Garden City. It is also the hometown of Maotai wine, one of the three most famous Chinese wines Mao Wu Jian.
In 1935, the Communist Party of China held the famous Zunyi Conference in Zunyi, which became a life-or-death turning point for the Party and is known as the City of Turning Point and Capital of Conference.

This is a Throwback adventure (filmed 2 years ago) when life was a lot simpler. We edited bits and pieces from our time in Guiyang, the capital, and Kaili, the gateway to Guizhou's amazing countryside. It is a true hidden gem with very few Western visitors yet so much to offer. During our 5 day trip we experienced incredible sour spicy dishes, unique customs of the Miao Ethnic Minority, friendly locals, and very low costs.

Guizhou is a province in Southwest China. It borders Guangxi to the South, Yunnan to the West, Sichuan to the Northwest, Chongqing to the North, and Hunan to the East, smack right in the middle.
Guizhou is a mountainous province with beautiful natural sceneries. It is also one of the most diverse provinces in the whole of China where the population consists of many indigenous groups.
The capital of Guizhou is Guiyang.

The large-scale Eastern Han Dynasty ancient cliff tombs in Ma'anshan, 10 kilometers away from the ancient town of Bing'an.

In Guanyin Cave of Qianxi County, stone tools used by primitive people have been found, which is a typical representative of the early Paleolithic culture in the area south of the Yangtze River. In addition, Guizhou has also found Tongzi people in the middle of the Old Age, Shuicheng people in the middle and late period, and Xingyi people cultural sites in the late period. The site of piercing culture found in Puding County provides evidence that human ancestors lived there 16,000 years ago, and is known as the lamp of Asian civilization.
