GRIMENTZ: Most beautiful WINTER VILLAGE of Switzerland? Alpine Wonderland Town [Travel Guide]

Welcome to the PERFECT Winter Wonderland of Switzerland! Visit this cute Swiss village called Grimentz! It is located in the Val d'Anniviers in the canton of Valais / Wallis and is said to be one of the most beautiful villages of Switzerland. During Winter, Grimentz is quite magical and seems to be even be more beautiful! After a fantastic first visit during Summer 2019, I decided to come back to this wonderful village during Winter. Roaming around the village, the question of reconsidering my ranking of the Top 10 most beautiful villages came up immediately. The many traditional wooden houses being all covered with snow looks really stunning. Make sure to visit Grimentz during the morning, as the lighting is going to be a lot better. Walk through the many alleys past the beautiful houses. The main alley in Grimentz can easily rank among the most beautiful ones of all of Switzerland. Although, Grimentz is great to visit during the day, it also looks very magical during sunset and dusk. The lights will be nicely contrasted by the blue glow of the snow on the roofs. During this hour, Grimentz fulfils everything to be a perfect Winter Wonderland; especially when the Glockenspiel is played. In addition: Grimentz is much less touristy than Zermatt or other popular places. The village thus appears rather serene and you may often enjoy it for yourself. With all this to offer, there is the legitimate question: Is Grimentz the most beautiful village of Switzerland during Winter?
Also go up to the Sorebois. From there you will get a great vista of the valley and also find many slopes for skiing. The resort Grimentz-Zinal is really worth a daytrip!

Moreover, the Val d’Anniviers is a great place to go for skiing. Especially up on the Sorebois, one can enjoy skiing in a very scenic alpine panorama. For sure, it’s very much worth to try out winter sports at the resort Grimentz-Zinal.

Aarau Switzerland - Birthplace of Frey Chocolate & The Habsburg Empire | 90+ Countries With 3 Kids

Aarau, the capital of the Canton of Aargau, is located on the River Aare to which the town and canton owe their name.

Aarau is located by the southern foot of the Jura foothills in the centre of the big city triangle of Zurich, Basel and Lucerne. The central location was recognised early on which is why Aarau for a brief few months in 1798 was Switzerland's first capital and home to Switzerland's first Houses of Parliament.

The charming old town boasts the most beautiful eaves, the so-called «Dachhimmel» which predominantly date from the 16th century when the town underwent considerable extension, are a special feature of the old town of Aarau. It's for this reason that Aarau is regarded as the town of beautiful gables.

Aarau continues to display an appreciation of art: the Aargau Art Museum featuring an extension designed by the famous architects Herzog & de Meuron offers architecture and art exhibitions setting high standards. The «Naturama», Aargau nature museum, is not your run-of-the-mill museum: animals, plants, exciting video films highlight the interaction and areas of conflict between nature and man in Aargau.

The Roggenhausen Wildlife Park has wild animals in their natural habitat as well as a Nature Trail. Cycling and walking trails alongside the River Aare and the Jura slopes provide the perfect opportunity for some pleasant physical exercise. But to see the people of Aargau really enjoying themselves you need to come to one of the local and historic traditional events, such as the «Maienzug» in July, the «Bachfischet» or «Rüeblimärt».

The Canton of Aargau boasts a great many castles, including some of Switzerland's most impressive such as the Lenzburg, the Hallwyl Water Castle and the Habsburg Castle - main residence of the famous dynasty from the the 10th century onwards. And Brugg, Baden and Zurich are a very short journey away. The Vindonissa Museum offers an opportunity to discover traces of the Romans and Windish is home to the biggest and best-preserved amphitheatre in Switzerland. And there are also a lot of historic towns, such as Bremgarten, Zofingen and others, to visit in the Canton of Aargau.

Enjoy the video and let us know where you're watching from!

???????? Switzerland - The Most Beautiful Tourist Destination | Oftringen | Grindelwald | 2023

Switzerland, officially the Swiss Confederation, is a landlocked country located at the confluence of Western, Central and Southern Europe. It is bordered by Italy to the south, France to the west, Germany to the north and Austria and Liechtenstein to the east.

Switzerland is geographically divided among the Swiss Plateau, the Alps and the Jura; the Alps occupy the greater part of the territory, whereas most of the country's population of 8.7 million are concentrated on the plateau, which hosts the largest cities and economic centres, including Zürich, Geneva and Basel.Switzerland is the birthplace of the Red Cross, one of the world's oldest and best-known humanitarian organisations.

Switzerland has four main linguistic and cultural regions: German, French, Italian and Romansh. Although most Swiss are German-speaking, national identity is fairly cohesive, being rooted in a common historical background, shared values such as federalism and direct democracy, and Alpine symbolism.Swiss identity transcends language, ethnicity, and religion, leading to Switzerland being described as a Willensnation (nation of volition) rather than a nation state.

Switzerland is one of the world's most developed countries. It has the highest nominal wealth per adult and the eighth-highest gross domestic product (GDP) per capita. Switzerland ranks first in the Human Development Index since 2021 and performs highly also on several international metrics, including economic competitiveness and democratic governance. Cities such as Zürich, Geneva and Basel rank among the highest in terms of quality of life, albeit with some of the highest costs of living.

Grindelwald is a village and municipality in the Interlaken-Oberhasli administrative district in the canton of Berne. In addition to the village of Grindelwald, the municipality also includes the settlements of Alpiglen, Burglauenen, Grund, Itramen, Mühlebach, Schwendi, Tschingelberg and Wargistal.

Grindelwald village is located at 1,034 m (3,392 ft) above sea level. Mentioned for the first time in 1146, it has become a major tourist destination of both Switzerland and the Alps since the golden age of alpinism in the 19th century. It is notably overlooked by the section of the Bernese Alps from the Wetterhorn to the Eiger, making up a huge natural barrier. Together with the adjacent valley of Lauterbrunnen, the valley of Grindelwald forms part of the Jungfrau Region of the Bernese Oberland, between Interlaken and the main crest of the Bernese Alps.

Similarly to Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald is connected to Interlaken by the Bernese Oberland Railway and is the start of the Wengernalp Railway, leading to Kleine Scheidegg. The latter resort is the start of the Jungfrau Railway, the highest railway in Europe and a gateway to the Jungfrau-Aletsch protected area.

Aarau, Switzerland, where Albert Einstein started his career

Founded about 1240 by the Counts of Kyburg, picturesque Aarau, Switzerland, with a population of around 16,000, lies on the River Aare at the foot of the southern slopes of the Jura mountains. The town’s central location, within easy travelling distance of Basel, Bern, Lucerne and Zurich makes it an ideal meeting point and it has a variety of thriving industries. It is also known as the town of beautiful gables thanks to its colourful baroque-style buildings with painted gable roofs. Aarau is also a town of outdoor activity and culture see below), as well as hosting several traditional festivals such as the Maienzug (May Day Procession) and Rueblimärt (Carrot Festival).
The great physicist Einstein lived in Switzerland between 1895 and 1919, and his time in Aarau, though short (1895-6), is well recorded in the town. The house Einstein lived in for that year has a plaque identifying it, and there is a square named after him; both are shown in the film. He attended the Kantonschule in Aarau (also featured in the movie) because he wanted to be a teacher of Mathematics, and he had surprisingly failed the exam to get on the course at the Polytechnikum in Zürich. After a year at the Kantonsschule in Aarau he was successful and returned to Zürich for his teacher training.
Explore the old town (Altstadt). Go to the Aargauer Kunsthaus art museum, the Naturama museum of natural history, or learn about the town’s history at the Schlössli Museum.
Visit the Roggenhausen Wildlife Park to see animals in their natural habitat, and go on a Nature Trail.
Walk or cycle along the River Aare on trails provided for the purpose.
Swim and play at Freibad Schachen water park.
Visit the Vindonissa Museum to learn about the Romans.
Visit one or more of the castles in the area, such as Lenzburg Castle, Hallwyl Water Castle, and Habsburg Castle.
Seek out the house where Albert Einstein lived and the school he attended for a year, and have a coffee in Einsteinplatz.
Take the family to the bizarre Käpten Jo’s Aafähre, which is in the shape of a boat and is so much more than a restaurant!
For nightlife, go to the Jugendkulturhaus Flosserplatz.
Finding the right accommodation actually in Aarau town is not easy. If you want a four-star hotel right in Aarau, about the only option is the Best Western Plus Hotel Storchen on Oltnerstrasse, but if you are willing to travel a better idea might be to stay at Seerose Resort and Spa, 11 miles (18km) out of town. In the 3-star category, the Sorell Hotel Aarauerhof and the Sorrell Hotel Argovia are both within walking distance from the town centre. The nearest hostels are 23 miles (37km) away in Zurich, where you find Langstars Backpacker Hostel on Aussersihl, or 8 miles (12km) away at Zofingen at the Youth Hostel Zofingen.

Mount Titlis, Switzerland

travel videos & photos at: with text, maps & links.
We are taking you up to Mount Titlis, one of the most scenic destinations in Switzerland, high in the Swiss Alps.
Please subscribe:
Switzerland playlist
The most exciting excursion out of Lucerne is to Mount Titlis where you can get a chance to frolic in the snow at the top of a mountain, guaranteed because it's a glacier, so there is snow all year round, throughout the summer throughout the winter and it just takes 2 hours to get from Lucerne up to the mountaintop. It is really a thrill to go up in the summer time and play because you wouldn't expect to run into snow on a warm summer day, but there it is, and it's very easy to get there. You take the scenic train from Lucerne on a one hour journey to Engelberg enjoying beautiful views of the mountains, farms and villages along the way.
Mount Titlis provides a spectacular view right into the heart of the Alps with the lofty peaks of the Jungfrau, Munch and Eiger visible in the distant Bernese Overland on a clear day, the Titlis viewing platform at 10,000 feet elevation has an elaborate multistoried restaurant, café and gift shop complex, along with ice cream snack bar and coffee bar out on the terrace in typical Swiss fashion. They have civilized this mountain and provided creature comforts while bringing you right into this wild natural environment.
Another activity while you're at the top of Mount Titlis is the glacier tunnel. It's an ice tunnel that they've carved right into the foundation of the glacier itself and there is colorful lighting inside. They have some ice sculptures inside and secure footing on a good rubber mat walkway and it's a lot of fun. You walk in the tunnel which goes around in a small loop circle. It just takes a few minutes but be sure to look for the ice grotto while you're up top.
One of the most exciting attractions is called the Cliff Walk. It's a pedestrian suspension bridge that gives you dramatic views looking all around, and even straight down 500 meters beneath your feet. It's claimed to be the highest suspension bridge in Europe and there is no extra charge for walking on it so by all means take advantage. It opened up at the end of 2012. It took them 5 months to build it and it has become a really popular attraction, sometimes called the world's scariest bridge.

For some more fun on the trip down you can get off the cable car at the next-to-last stop and rent a scooter to ride down the final mile. It is just a simple stand up foot scooter, you hold onto those handlebars with both hands and it's a wonderful ride that goes around zigzagging down on the road, which is at times a gravel road, a dirt road, but mostly it's a paved road. So it's really quite safe, quite fun. You’ve got good brakes with the scooter so you can slow down, you can stop, take a picture. Don't try and take any pictures while you're moving because you’ve got to keep both hands on the handlebars and wear that little protective helmet that comes with the rental. At the bottom you just leave the scooter in the pavilion and they will pick it up for you.
