Golden Sands is one of the three major Bulgarian seaside resorts , located in the northern part of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. It is located in Varna municipality, Primorski district . It is located 17 km from the center of Varna.
Golden Sands is also the most famous resort on the northern Black Sea coast. Located at the foot of Golden Sands Nature Park, a legally protected area. The beach, covered with golden sand, is 3.5 km long and up to 100 m wide. Its construction began in 1956 (chief designer is the architect Georgi Ganev), with the construction of 70 hotels with 15,000 seats. The first is the Oasis Hotel.
The area around the resort is unique with its plant species and coastal vegetation. It is designated as a Nature Park. It preserves endangered and protected plant and animal species and has built five tourist routes that pass through old fountains, recreation areas, places with charming sea views. The cultural and historical heritage of the park covers a wide period - from antiquity to the late Middle Ages.
Apart from holiday tourism, the resort is also used for year-round spa treatment. Four of the mineral springs in Golden Sands with a total flow rate of 150 cubic meters per second are particularly useful.
Golden Sands is a favorable place for events of all kinds such as symposia, seminars, trainings, workshops, round tables and more. The amenities and well-located hotels near Varna are a prerequisite for the frequent events in the complex. In recent years, a number of organizations, associations, trade unions, central and local administrations hold their events in the hotels of the beautiful complex on the beach.
The beach of the resort, as well as its alleys suffer from a strong overcrowding of shops, giving it the appearance of a flea market.
