China, the gateway to East Asia, is a fascinating country. It is an ancient civilization that gave the world Peking Man, gunpowder and noodles. Visitors making their first trip to China usually stick to the larger cities. More experienced visitors to the Middle Kingdom will strike out in other directions, where traveling may be a bit more frustrating because of the language barrier, but most definitely doable for independent travelers. Here’s a look at the best places to visit in China:

China is a huge tourism destination with many possibilities. This country offers amazing sights and experiences, whether you cruise down the Yangtze gorges, visit a bustling city, or relax in an ancient temple.

Our top Chinese tourist attractions list features unique, unexpected, and exciting activities.

10. Shanghai's Promenade: The Bund.
Shanghai's Zhongshan Lu riverside promenade, also known as the Bund, is a marvel of smart city planning and preservation. This spacious pedestrian zone along the Huangpu Jiang River makes you forget you're in China's largest city.

9. The Potala Palace, Tibet.
Lhasa's Potala Palace is another famous Chinese landmark. It was the Dalai Lama's fortress and dwelling for centuries and holds many of the religion's most valuable relics. The 17th century Red Palace houses the complex's most prominent shrines. The Enthronement Hall has murals of Dalai Lamas and Tibetan kings on its walls.

8. The Classical Gardens of Suzhou, Jiangsu.
The Classical Gardens of Suzhou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, should top of your China trip agenda. These exquisite gardens in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, were among 270 or more planted in the 11th century, when the city was growing rapidly. The most famous restored garden is the charming Garden of Lingering, a seven-acre site built in 1800 on the site of a Ming Dynasty park.

7. The Yangtze River and the Three Gorges.
The Yangtze River, known in China as Chang Jiang (Long River), is the third longest river in the world after the Amazon and the Nile and the longest in China. For over 2000 years, China's main transportation artery, the Yangtze, has flowed from Tibet to Shanghai through eight provinces.

6. Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, Sichuan.
Pandas are essential to any Chinese trip. The Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in Chengdu, Sichuan, is the ideal spot to witness these remarkable animals in their natural habitat. You can watch 80 pandas forage and play in this park-like facility.

5. Cruising the Li River, Guilin.
Guilin, in northeast Guangxi, is noted for its Li River and karst mountains. For centuries, poets, artists, and fairy tales have been inspired by its unique environment. Now, travelers from over the world come to see it.

4. The Summer Palace, Beijing.
The Imperial Summer Palace (Yíhé Yuán), one of China's most visited sights, is a 15-kilometer drive from Beijing. The palace was established in 1153, but its enormous lake was added in the 14th century to improve the Imperial Gardens.

3. The Terracotta Army, Xi'an.
Farmers found the Terracotta Army in the 1970s while excavating wells outside Xi'an. The three massive underground pits, erected to guard the First Emperor's tomb, contained more than 8000 life size warriors, 520 horses, and 100 chariots, as well as several non-military characters from around 280 BC.

2. The Forbidden City & the Imperial Palace, Beijing.
Beijing's Forbidden City (Zijìnchéng), commonly known as the Imperial Palace, is China's largest and most important building. The complex was built between 1406 and 1420 during the Yuan Dynasty. This sprawling compound housed 24 Ming and Qing emperors, who barred admission to all but the imperial family and their courtesans.

1. The Great Wall of China.
The Chinese phrase Nobody can be a true hero unless he has gone on the Great Wall shows the importance of this remarkable ancient landmark. The magnificent Great Wall of China, known in Chinese as Changcheng or the Long Wall, stretches more than 6000 kilometers from the fortresses of Shanhaiguan in the east to Jiayuguan in the west, passing through Hebei, Tientsin, Beijing, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, and Gansu.

Top 10 Things To Do at Aloft Taipei Zhongshan

Hong Kong to Zhongshan in Guangdong Province by Ferry.

This is a simple video I put together to help my friend Marko come and visit me in Zhongshan (Guangdong Province), Southern China.

On the Plane
Always keep your passport, boarding card and pen ready to fill in the arrival card for Hong Kong Immigration. Ask for one on the plane if one isn't presented to you.

Airport Express MTR
This is the quickest and cheapest way to get to the center of Hong Kong from the Airport. From there you can catch a taxi, walk or find a shuttle bus that will take you to China Ferry Terminal in Kowloon. I tried walking and gave up. haha

Ferry Timetable

Note that you can catch a ferry directly from the airport but they don't go as frequency so check your arrival time and then check the link to timetable at the bottom of the page in link above. Remember, do not collect luggage or go through customs if you are able to catch the ferry directly from the airport, simply head to transfers area for ferry to Mainland China and show them your luggage sticker.

Arriving in Zhongshan,
Some hotels offer a free pickup service so if you get this make sure they know what time you are going to catch the ferry so a driver can be waiting for you once you clear Chinese Immigation at the Zhongshan side. If you take a taxi make sure he uses his meter in the taxi. Do not let him negotiate the price of the fare. You will get ripped off...

ATMS
It's easy to take out money from most ATMs in China, however each time you do chances are your Australian bank is going to ping you multiple fees.

Wifi
Hong Kong Internation Airport has Free Wifi, you'll also find some free Wifi when you get to the China Ferry Terminal.

Please comment if you found this video helpful, if you think I should post more like it, or if you have topics you'd like me to cover :)

Top 10 Tourist Attractions in China Best Places In China Honest Video

If you want to learn more about Top 10 Tourist Attractions in China, PLEASE check out:

The video is presenting Top 10 Tourist Attractions in China valuable information but also try to cover the following subject:
-best places in china
-must see sights in china
-top 10 places to visit

1. The Great Wall of China.

Nobody can be a true hero unless he has been on the Great Wall goes the popular Chinese saying, one that clearly demonstrates the importance placed upon this unique ancient monument.

2. The Forbidden City and the Imperial Palace, Beijing.

China's largest and most important building, the Forbidden City — also known as the Imperial Palace — is situated in the very heart of Beijing and is a must-see when visiting the country.
3. Editor's PickThe Terracotta Army.

It was while digging wells on the outskirts of Xi'an in the 1970s that farmers stumbled across what was to be China's most important archeological find: the Terracotta Army.

4. The Summer Palace.

An easy 15-kilometer commute from Beijing, the sumptuous Imperial Summer Palace is set amid more than 700 acres of beautiful parkland and is one of China's most visited attractions.

7. The Yangtze River and the Three Gorges.

Known in China as Chang Jiang , the mighty Yangtze River extends more than 6,000 kilometers, making it the longest and most important river in China and the third longest in the world after the Amazon and the Nile. Flowing from Tibet in the west to Shanghai in the east through eight provinces, the Yangtze has, for more than 2,000 years, been China's major transportation route .
8. The Classical Gardens of Suzhou.

Considered one of the world's most important historic gardens — hence their designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site — the Classical Gardens of Suzhou should rank highly on your China travel itinerary.

9. The Potala Palace, Tibet.

Another of China's most recognizable historic structures is the magnificent Potala Palace in the town of Lhasa, Tibet. Constructed as a fortress and residence for the Dalai Lama, it was for centuries a center of political and religious power and contains many of the religion's most important treasures. The first of the two Potala Palaces, the Red Palace, was built in the 17th century and contains the complex's most important shrines in the Enthronement Hall, the walls of which are covered with murals depicting scenes from the lives of the Dalai Lamas and the Tibetan kings. Other highlights of the Red Palace are its many vast halls devoted to the religion's teachings, and the elaborate tombs of a number of Dalai Lamas.

10. Shanghai's Promenade: The Bund.

A remarkable act of smart city planning and preservation can be seen in Shanghai's splendid riverside promenade, the Zhongshan Lu, perhaps better known as the Bund . As you stroll this wide pedestrian zone along the Huangpu Jiang River, you'll almost forget you're bang-smack in the middle of China's largest city . Famous for its European feel, a fact owed to the district's past as the location of the city's International Settlement, the Bund is popular for its 52 preserved English- and French-influenced buildings, many now restaurants, cafés, stores, and art galleries.

Representing a variety of influences from Gothic to Renaissance styles — including a number of Art Deco buildings — the architecture includes highlights such as the old harbor customs office, with its bell tower, and the majestic Peace Hotel. For the best views of the Bund, visit the 468-meter Oriental Pearl Tower on the opposite bank of the Huangpu Jiang River. If time allows, be sure to also visit the Yu Garden. Known affectionately as the Garden of Happiness, this must-see garden can trace its roots back to 1559 when it was laid out.

Giant pandas are so cute, and many travelers want to see, or even hug, these lovely animals. Although there are giant pandas in zoos in various places around China, the best place to see and hug pandas is in Chengdu

Number 5 Zhangjiajie

Zhangjiajie is famous for its precarious peaks, limpid streams, dense forests, large karst caves, and biodiversity. It is one of the must-see scenic areas in China.

It was thrust into foreign travelers' eyes via the movie Avatar. The Hallelujah Mountains were inspired (in part) by peaks like Heavenly Pillar in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park.

egendary natural scenery is the highlight of Huangshan. It has the most beautiful mountains in China. The Yellow Mountains, with their seas of clouds, oddly-shaped rocks and pines, and hot springs at the mountain foot, attract many many visitors.

Besides the enchanting mountains, you should also see the beautiful surrounding countryside, with its celebrated spring vistas, fall hues, and ancient villages.

East to west, Guilin is best. Guilin's idyllic scenery draws millions of tourists from near and far every year. Its marvelous limestone scenery is renowned as the most beautiful on earth. The fresh air and countryside scenery make it an ideal place to escape industrial pollution.

The Li River is the top highlight of Guilin, and the Longji Terraced Fields attract many photographers in spring and fall.

The huge shopping malls of Central, Admiralty, and the street fashion factory in Causeway Bay, are reasons for many travelers to make their way to Hong Kong. Hong Kong also has some amazing beaches and natural sights for outdoor lovers. And it's near Macau, so many travelers take a day trip by ferry to this former Portuguese Port.

Number 9 Pingyao

Pingyao is actually only a town nowadays, but it was once an important city. The well-preserved ancient buildings and city wall of the Ming (1368–1644) and Qing (1644–1911) dynasties attract many visitors in search of how China used to be. Pingyao is an especially popular destination on the route from Beijing to Xi'an.

Finally, number 10 Chongqing

Chongqing, biggest city in China's west, is popular for being the most popular port for the Yangtze Cruise.

The first impression of Chongqing for most visitors is that it is a huge Mountain City, with its buildings built up against the surrounding mountains. It's magical that in some buildings, after you push the '8' in the elevator, you walk out at ground level again!

Shanghai

A remarkable city with a splendid riverside promenade, the Zhongshan Lu, perhaps better known as the Bund (Wàitan). Its the head of the Dragon like the chinese call it. An amazing city to visit and you also can visit the near city Suzhou, the Veneci of China.

Yangshuo
The best way to enjoy the area is to take a cruise along the Li River and ride a bike around the remarkable rock formations like the Mount of Unique Beauty, Elephant Trunk Hill, and Reed Flute Cave. Unesco

Longsheng

The amazing and beutifull Longsheng rice terraces are an unique place to rest in China. Seeing and touring the Longsheng rice terraces (Dragon Backbone Rice Terraces), better known as Longji rice terraces (which in Chinese means dragon's backbone), is one of the most striking experiences to visit in China.

Datong

The town is the gateway to the awe-inspiring Yungang Caves, one of China’s most outstanding Buddhist treasures, as well as a launchpad to the photogenic Hanging Monastery.

Beijing

Beijing boasts a history of more than 3,000 years, of which more than 800 years were as the national capital. It has many places of historic interest, including the Temple of Heaven, where ancient emperors performed solemn rituals for bountiful harvests; the Summer Palace, ancient emperors summer retreat; and the Ming Tombs, the mausoleum of 13 emperors of the Ming Dynasty.

Beijing holds many magnificent sights that set national or even world records, including the Great Wall, the longest man-made structure in the world; the Forbidden City, the largest and best preserved ancient architectural complex in the world; and Tian'anmen Square, the largest famous city square in the world.
