Ten kanał prowadzimy co prawda od ponad 5 lat ale tak naprawdę w Roku 2018 przeszedł całkowity RESET i uzyskał nową formułę. Od 2 lat, gdy zostawiliśmy nasze życie na etacie, podróżujemy, filmujemy, piszemy, jesteśmy poza domem przez połowę roku przynajmniej - to nasz sposób na życie i praca.
Chcemy (tak jak na blogu) w naszych vlogach i filmach pokazywać nieco ambitniejsze podejście do podróżowania: łączyć ciekawostki podróżnicze, geograficzne, historyczne z informacjami praktycznymi. Trip to Görlitz, Germany and Zgorzelec, Poland - 1992
Recorded on April 25, 1992. Pete and I did not originally plan on going to Görlitz on this day. We left Andrews Kaserne and went to the main train station in East Berlin to catch a train to Warsaw, Poland. We bought tickets from the East German Reichsbahn but when we got to the train we found out it was a former Soviet troop transport going to Moscow, and the Russians would not honor our tickets to go as far as Warsaw! Since we couldn't get on that train, we spontaneously decided to go to Görlitz instead. Görlitz is located in the far southeast of Germany on the Neisse River in the region of Lower Silesia. We had to quickly catch the S-Bahn and travel 4 stations east to the Bahnhof in Berlin-Lichtenberg. We just barely made it in time, and we didn't have time to buy train tickets before leaving, so when the conductor came around to check tickets, we bought them on the train from her. I am glad we went to Görlitz because it really was a very interesting place. Except for the dismal gray and dilapidated buildings all around, which was the norm for almost every East German city at the time, Görlitz was also very beautiful. In the end, we actually did get the chance to go to Poland that day. We walked across the Neisse River and visited the border town of Zgorzelec, Poland on foot!
Pete und ich hatten ursprünglich nicht vor, an diesem Tag nach Görlitz zu fahren. Wir verließen die Andrews Kaserne und fuhren zum Hauptbahnhof in Ostberlin, um einen Zug nach Warschau in Polen zu nehmen. Wir kauften Tickets bei der DDR-Reichsbahn, aber als wir am Zug ankamen, stellten wir fest, dass es sich um einen ehemaligen sowjetischen Truppentransporter handelte, der nach Moskau fuhr, und die Russen würden unsere Tickets nicht einlösen, um bis Warschau zu fahren! Da wir in diesen Zug nicht einsteigen konnten, entschieden wir uns spontan, stattdessen nach Görlitz zu fahren. Görlitz liegt im äußersten Südosten Deutschlands an der Neiße in der Region Niederschlesien. Wir mussten schnell die S-Bahn nehmen und 4 Stationen östlich zum Bahnhof Berlin-Lichtenberg fahren. Wir haben es gerade noch rechtzeitig geschafft, und wir hatten keine Zeit, Fahrkarten zu kaufen, bevor wir losfuhren, also kauften wir sie im Zug, als der Schaffner vorbeikam, um die Fahrkarten zu kontrollieren. Ich bin froh, dass wir nach Görlitz gefahren sind, weil es wirklich ein sehr interessanter Ort war. Abgesehen von den tristen grauen und baufälligen Gebäuden ringsum, die damals in fast jeder ostdeutschen Stadt üblich waren, war Görlitz auch sehr schön. Am Ende hatten wir tatsächlich die Chance, an diesem Tag nach Polen zu fahren. Wir gingen über die Neiße und besuchten die Grenzstadt Zgorzelec, Polen zu Fuß!

Görlitz ... in 10min durch eine historische Stadt
Die Stadt Görlitz ist die östlichste Stadt Deutschlands und die Größte in der Oberlausitz.
Görlitz liegt an der Neiße, die seit 1945 die Grenze zu Polen bildet.
Seit 1998 gibt es eine Bindung mit Zgorzelec und damit eine Europastadt.
Görlitz blieb im Zweiten Weltkrieg von Zerstörungen fast völlig verschont. Auch profitierte die Stadt davon, das in der ehemaligen DDR keine Mittel für den Abriss alter Häuser bereit standen.
So konnten nicht nur die historische Altstadt, sondern auch über 4000 Häuser der Stadt Görlitz sehenswert restauriert werden.
Dieses einzigartige Stadtbild machte Görlitz zu einem beliebten Filmdrehstandort, weshalb es auch „Görliwood“ genannt wird.

If you cross the Neisse from the centre of Görlitz via one of the bridges, you end up in the town of Zgorzelec in Poland.
Like Görlitz, a beautiful place, and a unique experience to be in both Germany and Poland.

Goerlitz Town Square a Hidden Gem in Germany
Left relatively untouched by the second world war, this German gem was divided in two as the borders were redrawn. Now you can easily walk across from the historic center of Goerlitz to its Polish counterpart across a very nice foot bridge. This beautiful square helps you realize why this tourist ghost town is on Wolters World top 10 cities to visit in Germany list.

Görlitz jest jednym z niewielu niemieckich miast niezniszczonych podczas II wojny światowej, posiadających niezaburzony układ przestrzenny i zabytki ze wszystkich epok historycznych.

Plac zlokalizowany na wprost Mostu Staromiejskiego, swoją nazwę zawdzięczał ustawieniu w tym miejscu słupa dystansowego poczty saskiej. Słup istnieje od 1725 roku. August II Sas król plski i elektor saski rozkazał ustawienie słupów milowych na trasach funkcjonowania poczty. Słupy były ozdobione podwójnym godłem z herbami Rzeczpospolitej i Saksonii.

Görlitz ([ˈɡœɐ̯lɪts] (About this sound listen); Upper Lusatian dialect: Gerlz, Gerltz, and Gerltsch, Polish: Zgorzelec, Upper Sorbian: Zhorjelc, Lower Sorbian: Zgórjelc, Czech: Zhořelec) is a town in the German federal state of Saxony. Located in the region of Lusatia on the Lusatian Neisse River, it is the second largest town of Lusatia after Cottbus, and the largest in Upper Lusatia. Seat of the district of Görlitz, Germany's easternmost district, its approximately 56,000 inhabitants also make Görlitz the sixth largest town of the Free State of Saxony. It lies opposite the Polish town of Zgorzelec, which was part of Görlitz until 1945. While not Lusatiophone itself, the town lies just east of the Sorbian-speaking parts of Lusatia.
From 1815 until 1918, Görlitz belonged to the Province of Silesia in the Kingdom of Prussia, and later to the Province of Lower Silesia in the Free State of Prussia. It is the largest town of the former Province of Lower Silesia that lies west of the Oder-Neisse line and hence remains in Germany today. Thus it is both the most Silesian town, in terms of character, and the largest in Germany today. The town combines Lusatian and Silesian traditions as well as German and Sorbian culture. Görlitz has a rich architectural heritage. Many movie-makers have used the various sites as locations.[2]
