The Giza Zoo, Cairo, Egypt; An 80 Acre Zoo in Giza

The Giza Zoo, Cairo, Egypt is among the different things to do in Egypt and the different places to visit.

Every country in the world has a zoo, Giza zoo is the Egyptian version for it and it carry different animals that might be interesting for some people to go see and in some cases even feed. Giza zoo is considered one of the few green areas in the city since it covers about 80 acres.

Giza zoo in Egypt is home to many endangered species and this makes it one of the things in the list of places to visit in Egypt. There are different Egypt tourist attractions that Giza zoo usually comes among but it could be placed at the end just in case you failed to go, you will never be missing on something that is historical and could not be found somewhere else.

A great place for a family day out - we would recommend that you visit early in the day to beat the crowds and bring a picnic with you - so loads of water, juice and snacks!

The amazing thing about the Giza Zoo's history is that it was once known as the best Zoo in the world - if not the 2nd best zoo in the world. Sadly it has fallen down the rankings over time.

Being one of the top things to do in Cairo, we have to mention that it was not just considered the best zoo in the world, but it was the first in other things as well, such as the rare species that have been successfully bred there, like the first California sea lion to be born in the Middle East in 2002.

Giza zoo history is so attracting that it pushes the tourist to go there once his/her leg touch the ground of Egypt. Giza zoo was firstly built by the Khedive Ismail and it was even part of the Harem gardens. Some of the plants which are still living until this very moment were imported from India, Africa, and South Africa, and some of the birds living there were taken from the Khedive's menagerie.

There are some improvements that the ones responsible for this zoo should go through in order to improve the tourism of Egypt and let the tourists put this as part of the list related to the places they want to visit. These improvements include cleaning the place a little bit more, taking more care of the animals living there because they might easily die, and paying good money to the workers in order to let them treat the visitors with good manners.

Taking your food and water with you will always keep you charged to walk through the whole place, which is big, and at the same time manage to take photos with all the animals that are found there and even feed them, which is considered the most interesting thing for the kids.

People are always comparing this Giza zoo to the other ones around the world, which might not be considered fair because countries are different along with their economy and workforce, so people might not be giving all what they have because they might not be receiving what they need. Giza zoo is a beautiful place that is considered historical at the same time and goes back to the 19th century, which means that you will be walking among those trees which are considered older than you are.

Instead of looking at the bad points that might be there, try to enjoy the place with your kids and family, get the chance to see those impressive animals and take the experience of feeding them, and walk through the whole place to enjoy those historical trees that have been planted there since a very long period of time.

Giza is a place that is considered close to different other Egypt attractions, which means that as well as being able to visit the Giza zoo, you could also go further and have a walk by the Nile when you finish and even get the chance to spot other places on your map and see how far is Giza zoo location from other good places to visit.

The Giza Zoo's Location is Charles De Gaulle, Oula, Giza and the cost or prices is around 5 EGP for locals and a little more for tourists.

Being in Giza, Egypt, there are still other things to visit, such as The Pharaonic Village ( visit Cairo Tower ( go to Orman Egypt ( or even go a little bit further and reach The Pyramids of Giza (

In this video, I show you how to use the metro and a public bus to get there.

The Zabaleen: Cairo's Garbage Collectors (Part 1)

An unseen army of 50,000 Coptic Christians collects Cairo's trash at 2AM and take it home to Garbage City.

• Why are only Christians recycling Cairo’s garbage – in a country that is 90% Muslim?
• Why do you want to avoid hospital waste at all costs – especially in Egypt?
• What can you learn about a city from its garbage?

The Zabaleen have created one of the most efficient recycling systems in the world. They re-use 85% of Cairo's waste from over 12 million people.

Until recently Garbage City – their home – had no water, sewage, or electricity.
The men collect, the women sort, and the children start helping as soon as they can walk.
Everything they need to live is found in the garbage - from toys to food for their livestock.
The garbage gets separated into hundreds of categories – from forks to dolls.

They’ve weathered many crises – during the swine flu epidemic the government ordered every pig in Egypt to be slaughtered. The Garbage People almost starved. Waste piled up on Cairo’s streets.

The Pharaonic Village in Giza; Museum of Egyptian History

The Pharaonic Village in Giza, the tour in the old living museum of Egyptian history which might not be found in so many other countries around the world.

It is not like any kind of museum in which you enter and see the different old treasures being presented and displayed to the visitors, but it is more like a real show in which the workers act and perform the old Egyptian ways of living, giving the visitors the chance to know about the history of the Pharaohs.

The Pharaonic village in Giza covers the 5,000 years of history which the world is astonished by. After the performances that you get to see while being seated in a boat that moves through the Nile, there is also the replica of Tutankhamun's tomb which features the old treasures as well as the tomb.

Once you set your leg in the yacht that will sail down the canals, you will find yourself looking at the ancient Egyptian history wherever you tend to look. The life in ancient Egyptian time was so different that you will get astonished with the history and the old ways of living that is being presented in front of you through wandering across the canal.

This Nile river island kind of museum is very useful and interesting to school children and a very good idea for trips made by schools or even parents because the kids are not going to read lots of things which they might not understand, but they will watch the Pharaonic era daily activities.

Tourists visiting Egypt will also love the Pharaonic Village because they will get the chance to enjoy the tour with the language they could understand because there are different languages which they could choose from during the tour.

Inside the Pharaonic Village, there are different Egyptian exhibitions which help in transferring the 5,000 years of history and civilization which Egypt has gone through. Some of these exhibitions include Modern Egypt Exhibit, Inventors Museum, Cleopatra's Exhibit, Ancient Arts and Beliefs, Boats of Ancient Egypt, The Pyramids & Sphinx Exhibit, Mummification Exhibit, Inventions Exhibit, as well as some exhibitions for the previous leaders of Egypt.

In addition to these different exhibitions that get people more informed about the ancient Egyptian civilization, there is one important Egyptian exhibition to mention here, which is the one related to Dr. Hassan Ragab, the founder of this village. The Pharaonic village came to life through the mind and effort of Dr. Hassan Ragab. The exhibition of Dr. Ragab shows some photos from different periods of his life and also presents some of his personal items, such as his important Cryptograph and Papyrus Restoration machine.

The Pharaonic Village is located on the West bank of the Nile, on Jacob's Island, Al-Bahr Al-A'zam street, which is about six miles from the center of Cairo, and which will probably not be far away from your hotel if you are planning to stay in the downtown area.

The daily working hours of the village are from 9 AM until 5 PM during the whole year but in summer it stays open until 7 PM, which will give you the chance to visit it during the day without having to run through the other tours you are doing, just make sure not to visit it after 4 because you will then have no time to enjoy the tour and see how the ancient Egyptian people used to live their days and the activities they were involved in; give yourself some time.

The time which you will most probably spend inside the Pharaonic Village will vary between one to three hours and this will depend on the things you want to see inside, so it is better to be ready for three hours in this place just in case. There are tour guides who will be responsible for telling you the story while being on the tour and they are usually professional and friendly, so they will help in making the tour much better, interesting, and easier.

The fee of the tour inside the village will differ according to the program you are going to take, there are different options there and it will also depend on the age; children from 3 to 5, children from 5 to 10, and of course adults. The price will also differ from Egyptians to foreigners but the difference is not huge and the entrance fee in the end is not expensive.

If you are searching for more information about Egypt and the old life in ancient Egypt then visiting the Pharaonic village should always be on your to-do list because it will give you a lot of information about ancient Egypt through the Pharaohs activities and life.

Being in Egypt, you could also visit The Giza Zoo with your kids ( ), you should never miss the chance of visiting The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization ( ), and of course you already know that The Pyramids of Giza are a must ( ) and the Nile will be always around you wherever you tend to go around the area of downtown of Cairo ( ).

Suez → Cairo - The Roads of Egypt ????????

If you enjoy the video, please like, comment and subscribe, I appreciate it, thank you

Hey folks, driving in Cairo is interesting to watch. It is never boring on the streets of Cairo. For more information subtitles in different languages are available. If you have suggestions or feedback just leave a comment, thank you.

Welcome to a new tour. Today we are returning from Suez to Cairo. As you are used to from me, I am again providing information about the area, also with distances to other cities, information about where the exits on the highwasy lead and, as always, facts, if I could collect any.

I also permanently displayed the permitted maximum speed. I've heard a lot of complaints about Speeding Tickets. In this way I hope to protect you from possible Speeding tickets. In future videos I will continue this on main roads.

You have to watch out for walking people, taxis, toktok's and especially for (white) microbuses. Their behavior is unpredictable and it can lead to a disaster.

Suez
Suez (السويس) is a city in Egypt, 120 km east of Cairo.
The city is known for the Suez Canal, which begins there and ends in Port Said.
Suez is the 6th largest city in the country with almost 700,000 inhabitants. They are distributed over an area of 3,128 km².
With 223 inhabitants per km², the density is relatively low. For comparison, Cairo or Alexandria have significantly more with over 15,000 or 4,750 inhabitants per km².
Due to the constant expansion of the Cairo - Suez Desert Road, Suez can be reached from Cairo in just over an hour.
Unlike Ismailia and Port Said, Suez is an ancient city foundation.
In an inscription of Ptolemy II Philadelphos (reign 285-246 BC), the so-called Pithom, he reported that he built a city for his sister Arsinoë II (around 316-270 BC).,
which he named after his sister Arsinoë, later Kleopatris or Clysma (Klysma, Kleisma, Greek: Κλυσμα, Κλεισμα).
The city was at the end of the canal from the Nile, which Ptolemy II. 270/269 BC. BC, just north of present-day Suez in the area of the hill Kōm el-Qulzum.
A sanctuary was built in the city and several statues of gods were erected.
Under the Arabs, the city continued to be used.
It was now called el-Qulzum (القلزم‎) and was named by the Arab historian Abo el-Fidaʾ (1273-1331) as the starting point for pilgrims to continue their journey to eṭ-Ṭōr or Mecca.
The water supply was problematic. There was only one source of fresh water in the el-Qulzum area, which ultimately led to the decline of the settlement.
Suez is reachable via car (Cairo – Suez Desert Road or alternative via Geneva Road), with bus or with train.

Suez Canal
The Suez Canal (قناة السويس) is an artificial sea-level waterway in Egypt, connecting the Mediterranean Sea to the Red Sea through the Isthmus of Suez and dividing Africa and Asia.
The Suez Canal was built from 25th September 1859 to 17th November 1859.
The result is a 193.3 km (120.1 mi) long canal that runs from Suez to Port Said.
The Suez Canal was not the first canal to connect the Red Sea Bay to the Mediterranean Sea.
James Henry Breasted attributes the earliest known attempt to construct a canal up through the first cataract to the Sixth Dynasty of Egypt.
