Deadliest Journeys - Cameroon, Birds and Lizards

In Cameroon, only 2% of the roads have been asphalted. All of the country's inhabitants rely on the Clandos' taxi services, they have no other choice. The country has no railway and taking airplanes is both too expensive and too dangerous.

00:00 Cameroon's bravest drivers are known as Clandos. They're illegal cabs, and they're the only ones allowed to drive on Cameroon's entire road network, one of the worst on the African continent.

06:20 Thanks to this, they have a stranglehold on transport in Cameroon, despite the government's best efforts.
00:20 Some routes cross the territory of the Pygmies, a people of Central Africa.
17:30 When goods transports have accidents, villagers loot the cargo
19:18 The loaders in the basalt mines work until they're exhausted, and even the children there have to work in the quarries to go to school.
23:49 With the limited means available, the Clandos are forced to drive with cars fit for the scrap heap.
29:59 Overloaded vans are also subject to road problems.
35:35 Mireille works for an NGO trying to preserve the Pygmé people who live close to nature in the equatorial forests.
41:33 Some mountain towns are inaccessible during the rainy season.
49:02 Even the region's capital has become a ghost town as the population flees.

1. D’un lieu de repos au pk 16 pour les usagers de cette route, Cet aire de repos comporte une cantine et des zones de prière ;
2. Des aménagements sociaux dont :
- sept forages d’eau

Invisible Borders 2014: Lagos - Sarajevo (The Teaser)

This is one of the teasers of the 5th Edition of the Invisible Borders Trans-African Road Trip. The first Trans-Continental crossing Road Trip of the collective featuring 11 participants of whom 9 of them are artists. Artists featured in teaser are: Breeze Yoko (South Africa), Heba Amin (Egypt), Dawit L. Petros (Eritrea), Renee Mboya (Kenya). Produced by Invisible Borders and H264 Media

From 2nd of June to 31st of October 2014, the Invisible Borders Trans-African Photographers Organization will embark on the 5th edition of their Road Trip Project. This trip will be the first Trans-Continental Road Trip of the collective and will be from Lagos (Nigeria) to Sarajevo (Bosnia) through 20 countries in Africa and Europe notably Nigeria, Republic of Benin, Togo, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Mali, Senegal, Mauritania, Western Sahara, Morocco, Spain, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia and eventually Bosnia.

During the last four editions of the Road Trip the group has explored African countries from the West to the East and Central Africa. The impressions of the last four years have given rise to reflections and subsequent evolution of questions surrounding the complexness of borders. This year's road trip is therefore an attempt to approach the core of what necessitates borders: Movement.

The road trip project is an attempt to draw a tangible line of connection across chosen geographic locations in order to transcend the limitations proposed by the existing demarcating lines.

In thinking of the Invisible Border Trans-Continental Road Trip from Lagos -- Sarajevo, the fundamental elements of the trip could be aligned in three deductions:

- The endeavors of artists during the trip will be to reflect upon the contrast between preconceived notions and freshly acquired perceptions for every displacement through places and people. Sandwiched in between these two positions is the Invisible Borders.

- New perceptions can only be acquired through a crossbreed of realities, which necessitates human interactions and exchanges on a constant basis during the trip.

- These interactions and exchanges will give rise to the form in which the final work of the artists manifests both in creation and presentation.

The road trip will assemble artists from countries in Africa whose previous work are rooted in the reality of the African continent. It is be made up of photographers, writers, video artists, art critics, art historians and performance artists. For more information visit:

Nigeria - In a Community called Isi ehi Umu Igwe, Amakama lies an ancient living tree, that has a hollow that can take up to 5 grown men. There are about 8 of these trees in the Amakama community representing the 8 villages that make up the community.
Amakama is in Umuahia south local government of Abia State, Nigeria, and as part of my eastern Nigeria tour documentary, I decided to visit this place to learn about this community.
