Unexpected First Day In Pattani ???????? Thailand's 'Dangerous' South
We had a pretty unexpected first day here in Pattani, come join us for our first Impressions of this city in Thailand's Deep South.
We first explored Pattani Chinatown which is really impressive then we got kidnapped by a friendly local tour guide from Pattani called Joh!
From here we spent the whole morning with a group of super nice Thai teachers from Bangkok as we drove around to see various tourist sights of Pattani.
We then checked out an incredibly beautiful Chinese temple, had a huge coconut ice cream sandwich for 20 thai baht, checked out some buddhist temples before we finally ended the day at the huge Pattani central mosque which really is impressive.
Pattani and the deep Southern states of Yala, Narathiwat, Songkhla have a very bad reputation but for those willing to travel down here it really is rewarding the people are so kind hearted and the countrysides/coasts are gorgeous.

Deep South of Thailand - Pattani
Pattani is a very small province (1,940 sq km/750 sq mi) that lies in the Deep South of Thailand and is little visited by Western tourists - in fact, it's the least visited province in the country according to data from the Ministry of Tourism and Sports in 2018 with the number of tourists only coming in at 20,000–30,000, mostly Thai. It was originally a Malay Sultanate before being governed by Siam since its conquest in 1785. I only visited the city for about an hour before heading down Highway 42 in order to visit the old brick Krue Se Mosque and the Old Palace in Yaring and, so, kind of wished I had more time to visit other places in the province.

อำเภอเบตง จังหวัดยะลา ตั้งอยู่ทางตอนใต้สุดของประเทศไทย อยู่ห่างจากกรุงเทพฯ ทางรถยนต์ประมาณ 1,224 กม.มีพื้นที่ในเขตเทศบาล 78 ตร.กม.
สภาพภูมิประเทศ ตั้งอยู่ในแนวเทือกเขาสันคาลาคีรี มีอาณาเขตติดต่อกับประเทศมาเลเซีย พื้นที่ส่วนใหญ่เป็นภูเขาสลับซับซ้อน ที่ราบสูง เป็นเขาลุ่มน้ำและป่าดงดิบ มีที่ราบในหุบเขาเพียงเล็กน้อย ซึ่งเป็นที่ตั้งของชุมชนเมือง สภาพพื้นที่อยู่สูงกว่าระดับน้ำทะเลโดยเฉลี่ยประมาณ 1,900 ฟุต มีลำคลองไหลผ่านใจกลางเมืองเบตง
สภาพภูมิอากาศ จากลักษณะที่ตั้งของเทศบาลตำบลเบตง ทำให้มีอากาศเย็นสบายตลอดปี มีหมอกปกคลุมในตอนเช้าตรู่ อุณหภูมิเฉลี่ยประมาณ 23-30 องศาเซลเซียส
ลักษณธทางเศรษฐกิจ ประชาชนในเขตเทศบาลส่วนใหญ่ ประกอบอาชีพด้านการเพาะปลูกได้แก่ ยางพารา ผลไม้เช่นทุเรียน ส้มโชกุน เงาะ ลองกอง มังคุด เป็นต้น การอุตสาหกรรม การพาณิชย์ ประกอบด้วยร้านค้า ห้างหุ้นส่วน บริษัท ธนาคารพาณิชย์ โรงแรง ภัตตาคาร ตลอดจนสถานบริการต่างๆ ซึ่งการพาณิชยกรรม ถือว่ามีบทบาทสำคัญต่อเศรษฐกิจของท้องถิ่นมาก นอกจากนี้ยังมีการทำปศุสัตว์และการประมงน้ำจืดเพื่อจำหน่ายด้วย เช่นการเลี้ยงสุกร ไก่เบตง เป็ด ปลาจีน ปลาดุก ปลานิลสายน้ำไหล เป็นต้น
ลักษณะทางสังคม เทศบาลตำบลเบตงมีประชากรทั้งสิ้นประมาณ 24,000 คน นอกจากนี้ อำเภอเบตงยังเป็นเมืองที่มีความสำคัญในด้านการท่องเที่ยว มีแหล่งท่องเที่ยวมากมายที่สามารถดึงดูดให้นักท่องเที่ยวทั้งชาวไทย มาเลเซีย สิงคโปร์ และชาติอื่นๆ เดินทางเข้ามาท่องเที่ยวและทำรายได้จากการท่องเที่ยวปีละประมาณ 1,000 ล้านบาท

A quick getaway from the busy city of Bangkok to experience bird watching and feeding along with thousands of seagulls in Bangpu Recreational Center located at Mueang Samut Prakan District, Samut Prakan Province, central Thailand.

We headed for some street food in Pattani Night Market but I'll be honest it was pretty uneventful!
Thought I'd upload this anyway as we walk through Pattani Night Market and get some alright at best street food.
Managed to get a Khao mok gai, some pad see ew and a nice little khao niaow mamuang.
Every day can't be the best day let's keep it real.
