10-car ICMm: One of the most aggressive passages I've encountered - Fly-by -
On my way home last Wednesday I decided to make one last stop at the station of Wolvega, as I saw 10 cars of ICMm would pass me; an opportunity I wasn't going to miss out on: and it was a spectacular one!
The station of Wolvega is the first station in the province of Friesland on the mainline from Zwolle to Leeuwarden, situated between Steenwijk and Heerenveen. At a rather narrow platform, trains fly by at the maximum domestic speed of 87,5 m/ph (140 km/h) in both directions, having a margin of error up to around 90 m/ph (144 km/h), before the so called 'ATB' system will put them to a stop.
my guess is that this service was a bit at the high end of that, cause boy what a violence! It might have been the narrow platform ofcourse, as well. I haven't done the math, this time. ????????

???????? Discovering Edam and the Zuidpolder windmill
On this trip with my parents, we start in Amsterdam and take the 314 bus from Centraal Station to Edam in North Holland. Walking through this quaint town famous for its cheese, we take in the old buildings, ambience and maybe a cheeky snack as we head for the Zuidpolder - the South Polder. It is here a windmill stands that is over 300 years old; once a working mill for grinding grain and pumping water, it now stands as someones home. We head back through Edam and onto Volendam which features in the next video here:
