Switzerland | Alps Road Trip + Legionnaire's Tour of Windisch - Country #45 to Visit All Countries

In this video, you'll see and see my adventures in Switzerland which is my country #45 in my quest to visit all 193 UN-recognized countries around the world. My trip to Switzerland was to rest for one week at my sister's best friend's place who married a swiss guy and now lives in the city of Windisch. From there, I did a Legionnaire Tour of the city which is their major attraction. We also did an awesome road trip of the Alps taking us to Lake Lucerne. Switzerland is a country that I experienced a lot of passive-aggressive racism from the older generation. Thankfully, the younger generation is much friendlier.

Sightseeing in Sankt Gallen in SWITZERLAND

Brugg is a beautiful little city in Switzerland. Nearby the city three rivers are unifying into the river Aare. We can see a lot of very beautiful houses in the city of Brugg.

The train ride opens up wonderful views of Lake Thun as well as Lake Brienz. In the last section you can see the triumvirate Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau
There is a mountain hotel on the Schnyige Platte. Each room has its own motto and at night there is a surprise waiting for you on the ceiling!

The Romans in Switzerland: Vindonissa Camp Movie

If you are any where near the town of Windisch in the district of Brugg in Switzerland, consider visiting the site of a Roman camp at Vindonissa, especially if you interested in Roman histoy or have children with you. The Romans were here before you, occupying a strategic area on a peninsula between the Reuss and Aare rivers. Even before the Romans got here a Bronze Age tribe, the Helvetii, had built a fortified village on the site, but apart from earthworks there is not much to see of them.
The Romans probaly established a Legion Camp in Vindonissa in 15 BC, during their conquest of the Alps. Over the following century they gradually developed the site, putting in water, strengthening the fortifications, and building the largest amphitheatre in Switzerland, until the camp became a civilian settlement around 100 AD. Archaeological excavations started in 1896, and the site is now open to the public as a mixture of reconstructed and original ruined features.
Don’t Miss the amphitheatre, which is where the video starts – enough of it survives to give you a good idea of the complete building. Then the ‚Contubernia‘, the living quarters of a single unit of men (in a modern army it would be called „a Mess“). Here children of any age can join the Legionärspfad (The Legionnaire’s Trail), for a fun way to explore Vindonissa.
Original excavated Roman features they will see are: two strong gates, the West Gate and the North Gate, which still convey an understanding of the power of the fort; an underground canal bringing water to the camp – and it still works; the baths: always important to the Romans, consisting of a cold room with cold water bath, a warm room and a sweating room with under floor heating (hypercaust) and typical coloured wall paintings.
The artefacts discovered in the excavation of the Legion Camp are displayed at the Vindonissa Museum, which is in Brugg.

Interlaken interesting place to visit in Switzerland

Interlaken is a traditional resort town in the mountainous Bernese Oberland region of central Switzerland. Built on a narrow stretch of valley, between the emerald-colored water of Lake Thun and Lake Brienz.

സ്വിറ്റസർലണ്ടിലെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ ജയന്റ്വീവീൽ | Switzerland's Biggest Ferry Wheel

This is our travel from Luzern city to Interlaken.

We explored our day at Luzern city and end up cruising in Luzern river Reuss.
The Reuss (Swiss German: Rüüss) is a river in Switzerland. With a length of 164 kilometers (102 mi) and a drainage basin of 3,426 square kilometers (1,323 sq mi), it is the fourth largest river in Switzerland (after the Rhine, Aare, and the Rhône). The upper Reuss forms the main valley of the canton of Uri. The course of the lower Reuss runs from Lake Lucerne to the confluence with the Aare at Brugg and Windisch.

The Reuss is one of the four major rivers taking their source in the Gotthard region, along with the Rhine, Ticino, and the Rhône.

Interlaken

Interlaken (German pronunciation: [ˈɪntərlakŋ̍]; lit.: between lakes) is a Swiss town and municipality in the Interlaken-Oberhasli administrative district in the canton of Bern. It is an important and well-known tourist destination in the Bernese Oberland region of the Swiss Alps, and the main transport gateway to the mountains and lakes of that region.

The town is located on the flat alluvial land called Bödeli between two lakes, Brienz to the east and Thun to the west, and alongside the river Aare, which flows between them. Transport routes to the east and west alongside the lakes are complemented by a route southwards into the near mountain resorts and high mountains, e.g. the famous high Alpine peaks of Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau, following upwards the Lütschine.

Interlaken is the central town of a Small Agglomeration with the same name of 23,300 inhabitants.[3]

The official language of Interlaken is German,[note 1] but the main spoken language is the local variant of the Alemannic Swiss German dialect, Bernese German.
