Flashback Friday: Take a Stroll Around the Beautiful De Haar Castle Gardens
Join me for Flashback Friday. Once a week I will share a classic tour so that the community can watch together.
The incredible De Haar Castle is located near Utrecht and is the largest castle in the Netherlands. Designed by Pierre Cuypers, this opulent 19th-century castle was once the residence of the Van Zuylen family and was visited by many celebrities during the 1960s.
This enchanting fairy-tale castle is set in its own extensive English landscape inspired parkland and is surrounded by some very beautiful French-style geometric gardens. On this tour, I am going to take you on a gentle walk through the gardens, and around the park. Together we will pass over quaint little bridges and along tree-lined avenues. We may even catch a glimpse of some deer, as the park is home to a number of these majestic creatures. If we are lucky, we will be able to take some beautiful postcards of these delightful animals against the stunning backdrop of the castle parklands.

N201 Hilversum - Vreeland - Vinkeveen - Mijdrecht (NL)
The N201 is a provincial road in the provinces of Utrecht and North Holland south of the capital Amsterdam. The road is 56 kilometers long and runs from Hilversum to Zandvoort aan Zee. It is an important access route that connects a number of larger towns (Hilversum, Uithoorn, Aalsmeer, Hoofddorp, Heemstede, Haarlem) with highways in the area (A27, A2, A4, A5). In addition, the N201 runs close to Schiphol Airport. Intensities are between 20,000 and 50,000 vehicles per day.
In recent years, there have been regular adjustments to the N201. Until the 1990s, the N201 was ten kilometers longer and started at Baarn. The section between Baarn and Hilversum has been renumbered to N415 and the route through the built-up area of Hilversum is now numberless. Between Mijdrecht and Hoofddorp, the N201 has been redesigned on a completely new northern route, including a tunnel, so that through traffic no longer has to drive through the built-up area of Uithoorn and Aalsmeer. This new section of road opened in 2012 and 2013. Adjustments have been devised for the road section between Hilversum and Vinkeveen, but a decision has yet to be taken.
In this second part of the video series about the N201 we drive from Hilversum to Mijdrecht. The video starts in the built-up area of Hilversum. Via the Diependaalselaan we drive to the west side of the city where the N201 officially starts. From there the N201 goes through the lake area that lies on the border of the provinces of Noord-Holland and Utrecht. At Vinkeveen the lake area ends and we enter the Green Heart, a relatively sparsely populated peat meadow area. The video ends at Mijdrecht.

De N201 is een provinciale weg in de provincies Utrecht en Noord-Holland ten zuiden van de hoofdstad Amsterdam. De weg is 56 kilometer lang en loopt van Hilversum naar Zandvoort aan Zee. Het is een belangrijke ontsluitingsroute die een aantal grotere plaatsen (Hilversum, Uithoorn, Aalsmeer, Hoofddorp, Heemstede, Haarlem) verbindt met snelwegen in de buurt (A27, A2, A4, A5). Daarnaast loopt de N201 vlak langs luchthaven Schiphol. Intensiteiten liggen tussen 20.000 en 50.000 voertuigen per dag.
In de afgelopen jaren zijn er regelmatig aanpassingen geweest aan de N201. Zo was de N201 tot in de jaren 90 tien kilometer langer en begon deze bij Baarn. Het gedeelte tussen Baarn en Hilversum is omgenummerd naar N415 en de route door de bebouwde kom van Hilversum is tegenwoordig nummerloos. Tussen Mijdrecht en Hoofddorp is de N201 op een geheel nieuw noordelijker tracé heraangelegd inclusief een tunnel, zodat het doorgaande verkeer niet meer door de bebouwde kom van Uithoorn en Aalsmeer hoeft te rijden. Dit nieuwe wegdeel opende in 2012 en 2013. Voor het wegvak tussen Hilversum en Vinkeveen zijn aanpassingen bedacht, maar moet nog een besluit worden genomen.
In dit tweede deel van de videoserie over de N201 rijden we van Hilversum naar Mijdrecht. De video begint in de bebouwde kom van Hilversum. Via de Diependaalselaan rijden we naar de westkant van de stad waar de N201 officieel begint. Vanaf daar gaat de N201 door het plassengebied dat op de grens van de provincies Noord-Holland en Utrecht ligt. Ter hoogte van Vinkeveen eindigt het plassengebied en rijden we het Groene Hart binnen, een relatief dunbevolkt veenweidegebied. De video eindigt ter hoogte van Mijdrecht.

Wij zijn Pieter en Marieke en sinds 2015 varen we met onze boot de Canicula door Nederland. Tijdens onze eerste vaartocht door Overijssel vallen we van de ene verbazing in de andere. Over de imposante bebouwing van Vollenhove, de massieve zeesluis van Blokzijl, het dijkdorp Kuinre. Geweldig! Inmiddels zijn we bijna heel Nederland door gevaren. Om iedereen te laten zien hoe mooi Nederland is vanaf het water, maken we video's van onze vaartochten en schrijven we artikelen over wat we allemaal tegenkomen onderweg. De Canicula is een St. Tropez cabincruiser van negen meter lang, tachtig centimeter diep en ruim twee meter hoog.

The Nieuwkoopse Plassen is a nature reserve of 1,400 ha in South Holland near the towns of Nieuwkoop, Noorden and De Meije. More than 1,000 hectares of this is owned by the Natural Monuments Association. The puddles were created from the 16th century onwards by peating the area
De Nieuwkoopse Plassen is een natuurgebied van 1400 ha groot in Zuid-Holland bij de plaatsen Nieuwkoop, Noorden en De Meije. Daarvan is ruim 1000 ha eigendom van de Vereniging Natuurmonumenten. De plassen zijn vanaf de 16e eeuw ontstaan door vervening van het gebied.

So I’m sitting in the living room and saw 3 small lights thru the window. I grabbed my phone to take video. You hear me say its a drone. But then I got a good look at it and sure ain’t no drone. Looked metallic and white and it reflected the sunlight. Now at the 16 sec mark of the video you see something from the middle bottom shooting up to the right. After that another fast shooter. I doubt they were birds. You look at the north in the video. We had a storm going on from west to east. Left to right. You see this sucker at the end going into the wind in a straight line. Wind was hard. So it can’t be a piece of paper. A bird don’t fly that fast, even with tailwind. I think I got to see another ...... weather balloon
