Woerden: exploring this unknown gem in The Netherlands with an amazing Dutch windmill!
A small, but beautiful historic city in The Netherlands. As it's off the beaten path for international tourists it has a typical Dutch vibe to it. The city is located in the Green Heart Area, which is an area well known by its beautiful countryside. It's the region where the most famous Dutch cheeses are produced. As a major city in the Green Heart region, Woerden became an important city for the trade in cheeses, like Gouda cheese. Let me show you the highlights of the City of Woerden in this video.

Wierden in 4K
Wierden is een gemeente en dorp in de regio Twente in de Nederlandse provincie Overijssel. Het ligt tussen Almelo en Nijverdal.
De gemeente Wierden omvat 9.435 hectare grond en bestaat naast de dorpen Wierden en Enter uit de buurtschappen Hoge Hexel , Notter, Zuna, Rectum en IJpelo.
Wierden is van oorsprong een agrarisch dorp. Maar er hebben zich in dit rustige dorp veel forenzen gevestigd. Deze werken in o.a. Almelo, Hengelo, Enter en Vriezenveen. Het dorp heeft ern groot aanbod van fraaie woonbuurten met voldoende voorzieningen.
Het Lageveld ligt even buiten Wierden en is een mooi sport en recreatiegebied voor jong en oud.

Driving in the Netherlands: Rijksweg N35 from Almelo (Wierden) to Zwolle
In this video you can ride along on provinciale weg N35 from Wierden (Almelo) to Zwolle in the East of the Netherlands. The N35 is an important link between both urban areas of Zwolle and Twente, near the border with Germany.
As the N35 runs through quite a few towns, expanding it to a 2 x 2 full profile expressway has been difficult. The traffic numbers do indicate that expansion would be favorable, however plans have always been postponed over the last few decades. The most recent expansion / change was the central bypass of Nijverdal opened around 2013-2014. They sank the N35 below grade and it partly runs through a tunnel underneath the small city. The N35 has a short section of 2 x 2 right before entering Zwolle.

10-car ICMm: One of the most aggressive passages I've encountered - Fly-by -
On my way home last Wednesday I decided to make one last stop at the station of Wolvega, as I saw 10 cars of ICMm would pass me; an opportunity I wasn't going to miss out on: and it was a spectacular one!
The station of Wolvega is the first station in the province of Friesland on the mainline from Zwolle to Leeuwarden, situated between Steenwijk and Heerenveen. At a rather narrow platform, trains fly by at the maximum domestic speed of 87,5 m/ph (140 km/h) in both directions, having a margin of error up to around 90 m/ph (144 km/h), before the so called 'ATB' system will put them to a stop.
my guess is that this service was a bit at the high end of that, cause boy what a violence! It might have been the narrow platform ofcourse, as well. I haven't done the math, this time. ????????

FIEMEL- ATLANTIC WALL BUNKERS, from the 2nd World War - Groningen -The Netherlands
Fiemel is a hamlet in the Dutch municipality of Delfzijl. It is located east of Termunten, directly on the Dollard on the south side of the Punt van Reide, in The Netherlands.
In the Second World War the German occupiers built a number of bunkers near Fiemel. These were part of the Atlantic Wall and also served to defend the city of Emden, which lies opposite Fiemel on the Eems estuary. During the liberation of this part of the province of Groningen, heavy resistance was offered from those bunkers. The neighboring Nieuwolda was severely damaged. A number of the bunkers have been preserved.

In de Tweede Wereldoorlog bouwden de Duitse bezetters bij Fiemel een aantal bunkers. Deze maakten deel uit van de Atlantikwall en dienden tevens ter verdediging van de stad Emden, die tegenover Fiemel aan de Eemsmonding ligt. Bij de bevrijding van dit deel van de provincie Groningen werd vanuit die bunkers zwaar verzet geboden. Het naburige Nieuwolda werd daarbij zwaar beschadigd. Een aantal van de bunkers is bewaard gebleven.

In deze Camper Trip Tips brengen we een bezoek aan de gerestaureerde oude schietbaan in Wierden en hebben we een ontmoeting met de grote schaapskudde op het Wierdense Veld.
Als je in oost-Nederland met je camper tussen Wierden en Nijverdal rijdt over de N35 mis je het allemaal! Maar achter de spoorlijn vindt je een paar onbekende, maar mooie plekjes die het bezoeken zeker waard zijn. Heerlijk rustig genieten van uitzicht, natuur en historisch erfgoed. Leuk voor een korte campertrip.

Netherlands: The City of Groningen
Groningen is the capital city of the northeastern province Groningen in the Netherlands.
It is the largest city in the north of the Netherlands.
The city is nationally known as the Metropolis of the North and as Martinistad referring to the Martinitoren.
In the late Middle Ages, the city was part of the Hanseatic League.
The inner city was severely damaged during the liberation in April 1945, after the 2nd World War . In total, over 300 buildings in the city went lost by the war, including the entire northern and eastern side of the Market Square. The symbol of the city, the Martini Tower and its church were spared, as well as the Gold Office and City Hall.
The main station from 1896 is known as one of the most beautiful stations in the Netherlands.
