The small town of Baden is a cultural and spa town, wellness destination, conference venue, and shopping paradise all in one. Hardly any other place offers such a wide range of tourism and leisure activities as the city at the Limmat - a town of contrasts!
The lively small town, situated only 20 minutes from Zurich and the airport, has a diverse and rich cultural offering. International festivals and the Grand Casino rank among its highlights. The car-free old town with its historic defensive structures and municipal buildings, several theatres and notable museums constitute further cultural attractions.

Baden Switzerland Thermal Bath City Aargau Schweiz 4K
Baden is a beautiful thermal bath city of the Canton Aargau in Switzerland. The city is located in the densely populated Limmat Valley, 21 kilometres northwest of Zurich.
Baden is a cultural and spa town, wellness destination, conference venue and shopping paradise all in one. Hardly any other place offers such a wide range of tourism and leisure activities as the city on the river Limmat. The natural warmth and power of the thermal springs have been used for 2,000 years. To this day, one million litres of Switzerland's most mineral-rich thermal water bubble up daily at a temperature of 47°C from 18 sulphur springs.
The history of Baden dates back to the 1st century AD, when the Romans began to use the warm thermal springs in what was then Aquae Helveticae. The Habsburgs formally founded the town in 1297. The Confederates conquered the town in 1415 and it was a subject town, but had a special position as a spa and the most important meeting place of the Confederate sessions.

Aarau, the capital of the Canton of Aargau, is located on the River Aare to which the town and canton owe their name.
Aarau is located by the southern foot of the Jura foothills in the centre of the big city triangle of Zurich, Basel and Lucerne. The central location was recognised early on which is why Aarau for a brief few months in 1798 was Switzerland's first capital and home to Switzerland's first Houses of Parliament.
The charming old town boasts the most beautiful eaves, the so-called «Dachhimmel» which predominantly date from the 16th century when the town underwent considerable extension, are a special feature of the old town of Aarau. It's for this reason that Aarau is regarded as the town of beautiful gables.
Aarau continues to display an appreciation of art: the Aargau Art Museum featuring an extension designed by the famous architects Herzog & de Meuron offers architecture and art exhibitions setting high standards. The «Naturama», Aargau nature museum, is not your run-of-the-mill museum: animals, plants, exciting video films highlight the interaction and areas of conflict between nature and man in Aargau.
The Roggenhausen Wildlife Park has wild animals in their natural habitat as well as a Nature Trail. Cycling and walking trails alongside the River Aare and the Jura slopes provide the perfect opportunity for some pleasant physical exercise. But to see the people of Aargau really enjoying themselves you need to come to one of the local and historic traditional events, such as the «Maienzug» in July, the «Bachfischet» or «Rüeblimärt».
The Canton of Aargau boasts a great many castles, including some of Switzerland's most impressive such as the Lenzburg, the Hallwyl Water Castle and the Habsburg Castle - main residence of the famous dynasty from the the 10th century onwards. And Brugg, Baden and Zurich are a very short journey away. The Vindonissa Museum offers an opportunity to discover traces of the Romans and Windish is home to the biggest and best-preserved amphitheatre in Switzerland. And there are also a lot of historic towns, such as Bremgarten, Zofingen and others, to visit in the Canton of Aargau.

Baden is a city in Switzerland, located 25 km northwest of Zurich. Population is about 20.000. Baden is famous for its thermal springs.
If you have already seen my film about architecture in Switzerland, entitled Modern Swiss Architecture, which shows particularly how Switzerland often blends the old and the new in its architecture, then it will be no surprise that the Swiss city of Baden has successfully done the same thing. By the time you get to the end of the movie (three and a half minutes) you will have seen the principal sights in this beautiful city, starting from the railway station, which is how I like to arrive when I am filming introductions to fine Swiss cities. From the vantage point of Ruine Stein, just outside the town, the old and the new parts stand out clearly, but seem to combine effortlessly.

A very beautiful city in the German part of Switzerland, not far from Zurich.
Baden sometimes unofficially, to distinguish it from other Badens, called Baden bei Zürich (Baden near Zürich) or Baden im Aargau, is a town and a municipality in Switzerland. It is the main town or seat of the district of Baden in the canton of Aargau. Located 25 km northwest of Zürich in the Limmat Valley mainly on the western side of the Limmat, its mineral hot springs have been famed since at least the Roman era. Its official language is (the Swiss variety of Standard) German, but the main spoken language is the local Alemannic Swiss German dialect. Its population in 2010 was over 18,000.

Aabachschlucht Waterfall Horgen Switzerland 4K Video
This beautiful waterfall is located in the Aabachschlucht near Horgen close to the Lake Zurich and can be reached on a short hike. The drop height of this small but very beautiful waterfall is about 10 meters.
Dieser schöne Wasserfall befindet sich in der Aabachschlucht bei Horgen in der Nähe des Zürichsees und kann auf einer kurzen Wanderung erreicht werden. Die Fallhöhe dieses kleinen, aber sehr schönen Wasserfalls beträgt etwa 10 Meter.
