GOMA - The Worst Travel Experience- What happened when i Flew with #fardc in Congo ????????

TRUE STORY :The worst experience I had last year was traveling with democratic republic of congo military force, in February 2022 I was traveling from Goma to Kisangani. After missing a ticket flight, I had to fly with military because I didn’t have another option.

The Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (French: Forces armées de la république démocratique du Congo [FARDC]) is the state organisation responsible for defending the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The FARDC was rebuilt patchily as part of the peace process which followed the end of the Second Congo War in July 2003.
The majority of FARDC members are land forces, but it also has a small air force and an even smaller navy. In 2010–2011 the three services may have numbered between 144,000 and 159,000 personnel.[7] In addition, there is a presidential force called the Republican Guard, but it and the Congolese National Police (PNC) are not part of the Armed Forces.

Goma is the capital of North Kivu province in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is located on the northern shore of Lake Kivu, next to the Rwandan city of Gisenyi. The lake and the two cities are in the Albertine Rift, the western branch of the East African Rift system. Goma lies only 13–18 km (8.1–11.2 mi) south of the active Nyiragongo Volcano. The recent history of Goma has been dominated by the volcano and the Rwandan genocide of 1994, which in turn fuelled the First and Second Congo Wars. The aftermath of these events was still having effects on the city and its surroundings in 2010. The city was captured by rebels of the March 23 Movement during the M23 rebellion in late 2012, but it has since been retaken by government forces.

Kisangani /kiːsəŋˈɡɑːni/ (formerly Stanleyville or Stanleystad) is the capital of Tshopo province in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is the fifth most populous urban area in the country, with an estimated population of 1,312,000 in 2021, and the largest of the cities that lie in the tropical woodlands of the Congo.
Some 2,100 kilometres (1,300 mi) from the mouth of the Congo River, Kisangani is the farthest navigable point upstream. Kisangani is the nation's most important inland port after Kinshasa, an important commercial hub point for river and land transportation and a major marketing and distribution centre for the north-eastern part of the country. It has been the commercial capital of the northern Congo since the late 19th century.

Is Gisenyi the best city in Rwanda for its location?

In this video we talk about how great is the Rwandan city of Gisenyi, many people talk only about Kigali and forget the greatness of other Rwandan cities, we show how much the city has progressed compared to how it was in the past few years. This is also a call upon other african countries to copy from the Rwandan system and also for africans to show what the western media do not show about our continent.

UGANDA HAS THE HIGHEST NUMBER OF LAKES AND RIVERS IN AFRICA (165 lakes; fresh water & crater lakes)

Uganda has the highest number of lakes and rivers in Africa

Uganda, has the most lakes (69) of any African country. Uganda's lakes account for roughly 10% of the continent's total number of lakes.

Uganda's landscape is dotted with approximately 165 lakes, including fresh water lakes, crater lakes, and others.

Despite the fact that it is a landlocked country, much of its border is lakeshore. Uganda is located in the Great Lakes region of Africa. Open water or swampland cover nearly one-fifth of its total area.

Much of the country is surrounded by Lakes; Victoria, Albert, and Edward. Lake Victoria dominates Uganda's south-eastern region, accounting for nearly half of the lake's total area. Many major Ugandan cities, including the capital of Kampala, are centered on Lake Victoria. The Victoria Nile River drains this lake and feeds Lake Kyoga, which is located in central Uganda and is surrounded by vast tracts of marshy land. Lake Kyowa is extended by Lake Kwaina, Lake Opeta, and Lake Bugondo. All of the lakes in the Lake Kyoga basin are shallow. Several lakes are located near or on the borders of Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Lake Albert, Lake Edward, and Lake George are among the most important. In Lake Kyoga, the Victoria Nile River meets the Kafu River. The Nile then exits the lake and travels northward before entering Lake Albert. It then flows through the lake, leaving it as the Albert Nile River, and travels for about 200 kilometers to the Sudan border. The Katonga River flows westward from Lake Victoria to Lake George. The Kizinga Channel connects the latter to Lake Edward.

Uganda's water resources include large lakes such as Lake Victoria, Kyoga, Albert, George, and Edward; wetlands and rivers such as the Nile, Katonga, Semliki, and Malaba; rainfall, surface water runoff, and ground water.

Uganda is a landlocked country with a total land area of 241550.7 km2. Open water and swamps cover 41743.2 km2 [4], accounting for approximately 16% of total land area, plus an annual water supply of 66 km3 from rain and inflows.

Uganda is part of the African Great Lakes region, and open water or swamp land cover nearly a fifth of its land area. The lakes of Uganda are vital to the country's biodiversity and economy.

The African Great Lakes region includes Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, and Tanzania, as well as the countries that surround the African Great Lakes.

Uganda, the Pearl of Africa is home to three of Africa's Great Lakes: Lake Victoria, Lake Albert, and Lake Edward. These lakes all drain into the White Nile, one of the Nile's two main tributaries. The Nile basin encompasses nearly all of Uganda's land area.
Lake Victoria, Uganda's most prominent hydrological feature, is the world's second largest fresh water lake, covering an area of 69,000 km2.

Swamps (wetlands) cover approximately 10% of the country, with one-third permanently inundated. Swamps form an extensive low gradient drainage system in steep V-shaped valley bottoms in the south and west of the country, with a permanent wetland core and relatively narrow seasonal wetland edges. They are mostly broad flood plains in the north.

There are 8 major rivers in addition to the lakes. The Victoria Nile flows through central Uganda, followed by the Achwa, Okok, and Pager in the north, the Albert Nile in the northwest, and the Kafu, Katonga, and Mpongo in the west.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park | The Ultimate Guide to Gorilla Trekking

Gorilla trekking is a once-in-a-lifetime trip in the famous Bwindi Impenetrable National Park of Uganda. The only way to see the mountain gorilla in their environment is to hike into the high mountains of the rainforest in Uganda, Rwanda, or the Democratic Republic of the Congo. With less than 1,200 living in the wild, the experience of seeing them interact with one another, just feet away, is truly a life-changing opportunity worth the effort.

Here is a step-by-step guide to booking a gorilla trekking trip.

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in Kisoro, Uganda

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is a national park in southwestern Uganda. It was created in 1991 and covers an area of 33.9 km2.

Welcome to Mgahinga National Park, a complete guide for visitors with everything you need to know about the Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in South West Uganda. Our aim is to provide free and inspiring advice to help you plan an amazing experience in Mgahinga National Park. Whether you are looking at gorilla trekking in the park, hiking the Virunga Volcanoes, golden monkey tracking, you will find all the information to plan your trip.

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is located in the Virunga Mountains and encompasses three inactive volcanoes, namely Mount Muhabura, Mount Gahinga, and Mount Sabyinyo. the national park is part of the Nile River watershed area. It is contiguous with Rwanda's Volcanoes National Park and the southern sector of Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The park is about 15 kilometres by road south of the town of Kisoro and approximately 55 kilometres by road west of Kabale, the largest city in the sub-region.

Gorilla Trekking

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is home to some of the world’s endangered mountain gorillas making gorilla trekking a must do activity while at the park. The trek commences at about 8am and lasts 2 to 4 hours, which durationis mostly dependent on the location of the gorillas or how far they moved in their search for food. There are a few guidelines to keep in mind before you go gorilla trekking which you will be acquainted with at the orientation but we picked a few to keep in mind before then. Gorillas can catch human diseases so if you have a cold or other infectious diseases, it is wise that you save the adventure for after your recovery. If you have to ease yourself while gorilla trekking, all waste must be buried 30cm deep. Flash photography should not be used and all trekkers should be at least 15 years of age. Only 8 people per trekking group are allowed. Depending on how far the gorillas moved, your reward for the trek maybe a silverback out of the 5 in the one family of Gorillas found in the park. This ought to remind you that by trekking you have a chance to see the gorillas but it is not a guaranteed that you will see them.

BIRDING

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is blessed with a unique bird fauna; 79 bird species have thus far been recorded within the park, including several species endemic to the East Congo Montane region. For the Virunga Conservation Area as a whole, over 295 species in the Virungas are endemic to the Albertine Rift Afromontane region representing 59% of the total of known endemic species.
