Chinandega (Spanish pronunciation: [tʃinanˈdeɣa]) is a city and the departmental seat of Chinandega department in Nicaragua. It is also the administrative centre of the surrounding municipality of the same name. It is Nicaragua's sixth largest city, with a population of 113,756 (2020 estimate), and a total of 136,788 in the municipality.It is located about 134 kilometres (83 mi) northwest of Managua and about 72 kilometres (45 mi) southwest of El Guasaule, on the border with Honduras. Chinandega is situated about 20 kilometres (12 mi) from the Pacific Ocean.

Aunque no lo parece, la ciudad Puerto de Corinto está emplazada en una isla, separada de tierra firme por un estero. El casco urbano es pequeño, alargado y de clima caliente. Hay mucha actividad en el centro, el mercado y las zonas más comerciales, pero el resto de los barrios y el área del puerto son muy apacibles. Hay varios hoteles pequeños, familiares y sencillos esparcidos por la ciudad. También hay bares, comiderías y restaurantes. Otros atractivos son las playas cercanas.

Puerto Cabezas, a city on the very tip of the Northern Autonomous Region of Nicaragua, is a city that no tourists visit. Why? It's because this region of Nicaragua is known to be one of the roughest parts of the country, with limited transportation and no tourist infrastructure.
The city of Puerto Cabezas has one of the largest Miskito populations in the entire country. The Miskito are an indigenous group of people that lived in Nicaragua before the Spanish arrived.

The beach is well known for being one of the lightest and finest sand beaches in Nicaragua. Playa El Coco is a great swimming beach and a wide beach, great for family fun. There is a surf wave on the northern end of the beach when the tide is high. Playa El Coco is also home to nesting sea turtles and all types of other local fauna.

Mombacho Volcano Natural Reserve Kids Hike in Nicaragua!
Another great thing to do when you live in Granada, Nicaragua is go hike a volcano! Mombacho Volcano is only a 15 minute drive from the center of Granada and is a great family destination especially during the hot summer months when it is a good 10 degree cooler at the top.
There are three hikes to do and the one that Aiden and I did was around one of the dormant green craters. It is a relatively easy hike for kids ages 6 and up and can be finished in 1 1/2 hours. It is a gorgeous cloud forest at the top and has beautiful views of the surrounding Lake Cocibolca and the islands and the Laguna de Masaya and even other volcanoes in all directions.
