Best Places in Basilicata
Basilicata is a scenic area in the south of Italy that is becoming increasingly popular. The region is nestled between Calabria, Puglia and Campania. Most of the area consists of hilly landscape. Nevertheless, the short coastline of Basilicata can also delight seaside vacationers and water sports enthusiasts with its beautiful beaches.
The region of Basilicata borders on the Gulf of Policastro of the Tyrrhenian Sea in the west with a small stretch of coastline and on the Gulf of Taranto of the Ionian Sea in the southeast with a strip of coastline about 30 km long.
Densely wooded areas and valleys with lush flora and fauna alternate with barren landscapes, especially along the Tyrrhenian coast.
In Basilicata there are some large natural parks. The most important is the Parco de Pollino, which is one of the largest nature reserves in Europe.
There you can admire the cave settlements Sassi di Matera. Or visit the ruins of the Greek city Metaponto. Countless prehistoric finds can be marveled at there. #basilicata #italy #bestplaces

The most famous attraction of Castelsaraceno is the adrenaline-pumping Tibetan bridge, a single-span bridge of 586 meters, a measure that makes it the longest of its kind in the world.
If you don't suffer from vertigo you can cross it: you will be 80 meters high. You have to book in advance. With a cost of 25 euros per person. A minimum height of 120 cm is required to enter.
Castelsaraceno, built in 1031 by the Saracens, is in a particular position, perched on the rocky spur La Tempa.

Venosa, uno dei borghi più belli d’Italia alle pendici del Vulture
Venosa è uno dei borghi più belli d’Italia. Fu la più importante colonia romana di Basilicata, fondata nel III sec. a.C., diede i natali al poeta Quinto Orazio Flacco nel 65 a.C.
A prima vista le tracce di questo passato glorioso sembrano scomparse, ma in realtà vivono negli edifici cittadini: con uno sguardo più attento si possono cogliere numerose steli funerarie, frammenti di fregi e iscrizioni latine nelle mura medievali e moderne.
Venosa è solo uno dei contenuti raccolti nel volume “Basilicata – le 100 meraviglie +1″, Typimedia editore.

Questa volta mi sono recato in Basilicata e non potevo evitare di usare il mio drone per mostrare le bellezze della nostra Italia del Sud. Questo video mostra L'abbazia della SS. Trinità, situata all’estremo limite della città, là dove un tempo era il centro politico economico della città.
Essa si compone di tre parti: la chiesa antica, fiancheggiata a destra da un corpo di fabbrica avanzato che costituiva un tempo il luogo riservato ad accogliere i pellegrini (foresteria, a piano terra, monastero al piano superiore); la chiesa incompiuta, i cui muri perimetrali si sviluppano dietro la Chiesa antica e in prosecuzione sul medesimo asse; e il Battistero, probabilmente una chiesa paleocristiana con due vasche battesimali, da questa separato da breve spazio.
L’impianto della chiesa è quello tipico paleocristiano: ampia navata centrale di metri 10,15 di larghezza, navate laterali rispettivamente larghe metri cinque, e abside sul fondo e cripta del tipo a “corridoio”. I muri e i pilastri appaiono decorati da affreschi databili tra il XIV e il XVII secolo (Madonna con Bambino, Santa Caterina di Alessandria, Niccolò II, Angelo Benedicente, Deposizione). All’interno, accanto agli affreschi citati, si segnalano la tomba marmorea di Aberada, moglie di Roberto il Guiscardo e madre di Boemondo eroe della prima crociata e, di fronte, la tomba degli Altavilla, testimonianza della loro devozione e del loro particolare attaccamento all’edificio religioso.
Il tempio incompiuto, il cui ingresso è sormontato da un arco semicircolare impreziosito dal simbolo dell’Ordine dei Cavalieri di Malta, si presenta di dimensioni grandiose.
La crisi in cui precipitò il monastero benedettino subito dopo l’inizio dei lavori di ampliamento, fu certamente la causa della interruzione degli stessi che non vennero mai portati a termine. Di fronte all’ingresso si notano i resti di un ampio muro curvilineo; è quanto oggi rimane del Battistero o più probabilmente di un edificio basilicale con due vasche battesimali.
