Vicenza is a city in northeastern Italy. It is in the Veneto region, at the northern base of the Monte Berico, where it straddles the Bacchiglione River. Vicenza is approximately 60 kilometres (37 mi) west of Venice and 200 kilometres (120 mi) east of Milan.
Vicenza is a thriving and cosmopolitan city, with a rich history and culture, and many museums, art galleries, piazzas, villas, churches and elegant Renaissance palazzi. With the Palladian villas of the Veneto in the surrounding area, and his renowned Teatro Olimpico (Olympic Theater), the city of Palladio has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1994.
In December 2008, Vicenza had an estimated population of 115,927 and a metropolitan area of 270,000. Vicenza is the third-largest Italian industrial centre as measured by the value of its exports, and is one of the country's wealthiest cities, in large part due to its textile and steel industries, which employ tens of thousands. Additionally, about one fifth of the country's gold and jewelry is made in Vicenza, greatly contributing to the city's economy. Another important sector is the engineering/computer components industry (Federico Faggin, the microprocessor's co-inventor, was born in Vicenza).

Vicenza: Veneto's Top City For Performing Arts ? Olympic (Olimpico) Theatre & Jazz Festival [Ep.75]
Despite the closure at Basilica Palladiana, Sayu Rinpoche continues the exploration of Vicenza, Veneto. After a brief visit to the Santa Corona neighbourhood and the Chiesa di Santa Corona, Sayu reached Teatro Olimpico (Olympic Theatre) - World's oldest covered, indoor theatre with an outstanding light show (Make sure to confirm the light show's schedule with either Teatro Olimpico's website or staff members on the day of visit!). After checking out Duomo di Vicenza (Cattedrale di Santa Maria Annunziata, Vicenza Cathedral) and Giardano Salvi (Salvi Gardens), Sayu Rinpoche thought maybe the Vicenza adventure was reaching the end. However, a group of jazz band and a crowd following them turned this Vicenza trip upside and ended up becoming one of the most memorable experiences of this Veneto adventure...

Vicenza Italy Chocolate Festival and Historic Center Walking Tour | Beautiful Veneto, Italy
Vicenza is my adopted hometown, in the Veneto region of northeast Italy and Piazza dei Signori is the main square in town. It's the location of so many markets, events, and festivals, and today is the first day of the sweetest festival of the year: CioccolandoVi.
You start to smell the aromas of this hand-made deliciousness from miles away when you approach the piazza. It’s a chocolate-lovers dream come true! Each booth offers something unique, most of them let you taste-test their treats, and you will be amazed at what can be done with chocolate!
Chocolate vendors come from all over Italy to showcase their delectable treats! The festival runs for 3 days each year, usually in late October.
Then, we cross under the Basilica Palladiana and head towards the meeting place for our walking tour of the historic places where wool and silk were produced in ancient times. I am on a tour led by Daniela Zarpellon of WeTourGuide.it.
During the medieval period, Vicenza specialized in the production and sale of wool. In the 1500’s, Vicenza became the leader in the silk industry.

On this beautiful October afternoon, I took a bike tour of Fimon Lake in Arcugnano, near Vicenza, Italy. One of the things I just love about living in Vicenza in the Veneto region, is all the natural beauty that’s available within just a short bike ride from the city.
Fimon Lake has long been one of my favorite spots to escape to, for relaxation, fresh air and exercise. It’s located in Arcugnano and situated in a scenic valley of the beautiful Berici Hills.
