This wasn't our first time visiting URUAPAN, MICHOACÁN - we were first here in 2013. However, we can safely say there were two things to see in Uruapan which we weren't expecting to come across in our travels...
It's true: Uruapan is one of our favorite places to visit in Michoacán. In fact, this city sort of reminds us of some famous colonial towns in Mexico, but without all the visitors.

Today we explore Mexico's great state of Michoacan, seeing the National Park of Uruapan and the capital city Morelia. Both of them turned out to be beautiful stops, in very different ways.
Parque Nacional Uruapan is one of the most naturally beautiful places I've visited in Mexico. It's full of waterfalls and lush forest.
Morelia is a classic colonial city that completely surprised us with its beautiful and clean downtown. We're surprised, not to find such a nice city in Mexico (because Mexico has many great cities) but because I had not heard of many people visiting Morelia before.
I really think Uruapan and Morelia are both very underrated destinations, and should be considered if you are planning a trip through Mexico. Travel safely, as I am aware that there are parts of Michoacan where violence is an issue. But we had no issues whatsoever on this trip through a truly beautiful part of Mexico.

Travel to one of the national parks Barranca del Cupatitzio, uruapan michoacan mexico.
A few thing to know when you travel to national park Barranca del Cupatitzio located in uruapan michoacan mexico.
This national park is the only one in all of Mexico that is completely located within a city. I also tell you the legend of why it is also known as La Rodilla del Diablo or The Devil's Knee.
It truly is a beautiful place to visit. I got there a little late, just before it was to be closed for the day, so I was unable to film the trout farm, or the zip line. But hey, now you have something to see that is not in the video.

Uruapan, Michoacán es un lugar con mucho comercio y arquitectura regional. Ideal para pasar el rato. En los portales hay cafeterías, algunos restaurantes y cerca las paletas de hielo y nieves de aguacate.
Parte del turismo en Uruapan se debe al parque nacional que se encuentra en el centro de la ciudad. A unos kilómetros Paracho y sus guitarras y San Juan Parangaricutiro, el pueblo purépecha sepultado por la lava del volcán Paricutín.

I can’t believe we risked our lives for this … no taco is worth your life, but we were determined to do everything possible to try carnitas in Quiroga, Michoacan! Quiroga is said to be the CARNITAS CAPITAL OF THE WORLD! One thing is for sure, you’ll find the best carnitas in the world in Michoacan, Mexico. We went to Quiroga for the carnitas, but we stayed for an unexpected party that was unlike anything else we’ve ever seen in Mexico. One of our favorite experiences in 2022 for sure.

Parque Nacional de Uruapan Michoacán 4K | Recorrido Completo
Un recorrido por el Parque Nacional Rio de Cupatitzio que se encuentra en Uruapan en Michoacán. Un verdadero paraíso lleno de cascadas, fuentes naturales y resbaladizas y caminos de piedra. Dentro se cuenta la leyenda de la Rodilla del Diablo: hace tiempo las aguas del rio habían dejado de correr y el pueblo empezó a sentir la sequia. El Fray Juan de San Miguel convencido de que era obra del demonio exorcizó el lugar; Satanás apareció y asustado trató de huir pero tropezó dejando una hendidura donde el agua cristalina volvió a brotar. Y desde entonces el rio volvió a cantar.

Uruapan Parque Nacional Barranca del Cupatitzio en 4K | Recorrido Completo en 15 Min
A solo unas cuadras del centro de la ciudad de Uruapan en Michoacán, se encuentra una de las áreas naturales protegidas. En este lugar nace el rio Cupatitzio, de aguas cristalinas, y en su curso alimenta a más de 10 cascadas que se encuentran en el parque nacional. En el trayecto puedes ver varios clavadistas que muestran sus habilidades lanzándose al rio.
Un recorrido por todas las fuentes y cascadas en 15 minutos, disfrutando el sonido natural del agua mientras corre por fuentes, ductos y cascadas.
