Umluj is an island group on the tropical Red Sea coast in Saudi Arabia. It is known for its unspoiled islands and beautiful beaches. There are a total of 104 islands here, varying in size. Some people have nicknamed Umluj as the Maldives of Saudi Arabia. In this video, I travel to the islands with a local fisherman, and explore the islands from various angles.

Saudi Arabia has long been off limits to foreign tourists and travelers. Since a few months, however, it’s possible to visit the country on a tourist visa. I made use of this opportunity and traveled solo to Saudi Arabia for 2 weeks, including Riyadh, the Edge of the World, Medina, Al Ula, Umluj, Jeddah and the Red Sea coast.
Saudi Arabia is mostly known in the ‘Western world’ for its petroleum export, the birthplace of Islam, and unfortunately also poor human rights record. But as I discover there is much more to this massive country than first meets the eye. In these series I hope to give a glimpse into what was once an almost ‘forbidden place’ for independent travelers, and is now open for visitors from around the world.

Umluj | Maldives of Saudi Arabia | Tropical Paradise
Location:
Umluj is a small coastal town, located in the northern province of Tabuk in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Due to its untouched white sandy beaches and turquoise color waters it is often referred to as the “Maldives of Saudi Arabia”. At Umluj you will find beautiful views and delicious seafood. Here people love doing activities like Island hopping, dolphin spotting, diving, snorkeling, and fishing. In this video, we will share our experience of Umluj, and why it’s a must-visit destination for you as well.
You can decide to live in Umluj as well, but there are limited options available on booking.com. Therefore, we decided to stay in Yanbu, which is 2 hours away from Umluj only.
When going to Umluj, make sure to reserve your boat ride in advance. The rates are usually 400-500 SAR for 2-3 hours. Contact numbers of some of the travel reports are given below

Rojal Castle | Rijal Alma Saudi Arabia | Abha Tourist Places | قلعة رجال المع عسير (ابها) السعودية
Having great political and military importance, Rijal Alma has been known for their involvement in the wars for a long time. There were many fortresses which were built to protect trading roads and deter aggressive tribes among which Rijal Castle was one of the biggest and most strategic one. This multi-story castle was built on a lush green mountain edge from where the whole city could have been monitored.
During the ottoman reign, In order to go down to Mahayel from Abha the soldiers must had to pass Rijal Alma and become exposed from the side and come under the attack of the tribes of Rijal Alma from such castles.
The Ottomans realized the seriousness of those active political movements in Rijal Almaa during its reign over the region, and gathered a huge army of 50,000 soldiers led by Ahmed Pasha to eliminate them. Ahmed Pasha managed to occupy Al Khamis, Abha and Al-Saqa but was defeated in Rijal Alma’, and then the Asiri tribes forced the signing of the independence of Asir from the Ottoman Empire, this was on the Aug. 28 1825, and the Convention was the first of its kind in the Arabian Peninsula.
Rijal Almaa were able to defeat Ibrahim Pasha when he decided to attack it to accept the Ottoman rule in 1835, and it is worth mentioning that Ibrahim Pasha is the one who annihilated the first Saudi state that extended its territory to most parts of the Arabian Peninsula

هذه مجرد واحدة من الأماكن التي يمكن أن أثبت فيها أن المملكة العربية السعودية ليست مجرد صحراء وجمال ، كما أنها حصلت على جبال صخرية خضراء ، ووديان ووديان. والآن نقوم بعمل دربنا الخاص لاكتشاف بعض الشلالات التي تحدث مرة واحدة في السنة. نأمل أن نتمكن من العثور على الماء على الأقل لأننا لسنا متأكدين تمامًا من ذلك ، ولكن ما نعرفه ، قمنا بجدولة رحلتنا بناءً على توقعات الطقس ومن الأيام القليلة الماضية كان هناك أمطار غزيرة في مجملها مدينة الطائف ، اساسا تلك المياه الزائدة من السطح العادي ستنزل بالتأكيد هنا ، لا ؟؟ جلالة ربما بضع غمس الشمس وأربعين دقيقة من الرحلات؟ نحن في منتصف الطريق عبر قمة الجبل ونسمع بعض أصوات الطبيعة الجميلة ، إنه شلال ولا أستطيع الانتظار لرؤيته. واو ، هذا لا يمكن تصوره. مرحبًا بكم في المملكة العربية السعودية ، لا توجد صحراء ، يوجد فقط نباتات خضراء نقية تفرز السجاد في كل مكان. أنا لا أتوقع حتى هذه البقعة الطبيعية المخفية الفخمة التي لا يعرفها الناس وكأنني لن أخبر الجميع عن ذلك. رسمي ، إنه ملكي الآن. لا أستطيع التوقف عن الدوران كما لو كانت على بعد أميال من العالم الحقيقي. مع هذا النوع من المشاهد؟ كل ما يمكنك فعله هو السماح للشمس بالمرور عبر بشرتك تتعمق في الشعاع الواسع من الأضواء ، ويتم تصفية هذه الأضواء من خلال الأشجار الراقصة والرياح العواء. عندما تعيش في القارة العربية ووجدت مسطحًا مائيًا في مكان مجهول؟ هذه معجزة بالنسبة لي. من المفترض أن تكون الطبيعة لا تُرى بالعين المجردة فحسب ، بل من المفترض أن تصبح جزءًا منها ... باعتبارها واحدة. بعد 40 دقيقة من الرحلات و 15 دقيقة من التسلق ، وصلنا أخيراً إلى القمة.
نحن في الواقع محاطون بجبال جميلة بأشكالها السحرية. والصخور الضخمة التي دفعها فيضان كبير على طول الطريق وتلك الصخور هناك؟ كانوا بمثابة سلمنا لجعل الحياة أكثر سهولة لتكون هنا. المنظر من هناك مدهش للغاية ، هذا إلى حد ما سويسرا العربية. يمكنني تسميته ما أريد بالرغم من ذلك.
This is just one of the places I can prove that #SaudiArabia is nt just a desert and camels, they also got green rocky mountains, lushes and valleys. And now we're making our own trail to discover some waterfalls which is happening once in a year. W e're hoping that we can find at least water because we're not quiet sure about it, but what we know, we scheduled our trip based on a weather forecast and from the past few days there was a heavy rain in the whole city of #Taif, so basically those excess water from the plain top would definitely goes down here, no?? hm maybe a couple of sun dip and a forty minute trekking? We're halfway through the peak of the mountain and we're hearing some beautiful voice of nature, it's a waterfall and I cant wait to see it. Wow, this is unimaginable. Welcome to Saudi Arabia, no desert, there's just a pristine green plants carpeting all over the places. I'm not even expecting this lavish natural hidden spot people don't know about like I'm not going to tell everyone about this. Official, it's mine now. I cant stop spinning around like it's miles away from the real world out there. With this kind of scenery? all you can do is just let the sun passes through your skin deepening into the vast ray of lights, and that lights are being filtered by the dancing trees and a howling wind. When you're living in Arabian Continent and you found a body of water in the middle of nowhere? That's a miracle to me. Nature is meant to be not just being seen by our naked eye, but it's meant to become part of it... as one. After 40 minutes trekking and 15 minutes climbing, finally we made it to the top.
We're actually surrounded by beautiful mountains with their own magical shapes. And huge rocks pushed by a great flood all the way down and those rocks down there? they served as our ladder to make life more easier to be in here. The view from there is so amazing, this is somewhat somehow a #Switzerland of Arabia. I can name it whatever I want though.

Harrat Lunayyir volcano is a volcanic field in western Saudi Arabia east of the Red Sea port of Umm Lajj. The basaltic field contains about 50 cinder cones and lava flows aligned N-S. Two of the lava flows have reached the Red Sea.
An eruption has probably occurred in the 10th century AD or earlier.
