3 Great Places to Visit on the North Coast of Tasmania

MUST SEE Destinations In North Tasmania

I definitely haven't heard too much about the north coast beaches of Tasmania personally which is a surprise cause these spots I'm going to show you are really quite breathtaking!

We didn't get a lot of time to see Devonport itself but the Mersey Bluff lighthouse while not being essential, was a nice stop off before Penguin, Burnie and one of the highlights of our whole trip - The Nut! Yep.. It's really called that ????

Journey to the Gordon River Dam. This video is the part of our previous vlogs from our last visit to Tasmania. In this chapter we are sharing our journey from Mount Field National park to the Gordon river dam. It took us roughly 1 hour and 45 minutes from the national park to get to the dam, it is about 106 kms one way. It was a overcast day. There is a little village called Maydena on the way and there is a coffee shop there. The journey is very peaceful and beautiful through the stunning landscapes of Tasmania.

The Gordon Dam also known as the Gordon River Dam, is a major double curvature concrete arch dam with a controlled spillway across the Gordon River, located in South West Tasmania, Australia. The impounded reservoir is called Lake Gordon. This dam was constructed in 1974 by the Hydro Electric Corporation Tasmania for the purpose of generation hydro- electric power via the conventional Gordon Power Station located below the dam wall.

Gordon Dam wall is a must see for any visitor to the South West and descending the stairs on to the face of the Gordon Dam is a must for any adventurous traveler. With the Dam wall already standing at a colossal 140 metres and holding 30 times the water of Sydney Harbour, the trip down on the steel mesh steps is not for the faint hearted, but definitely worth it to appreciate the awe inspiring feat of engineering and the view alike. There are total 185 steps to climp down to the Dam wall. It was an amazing journey and we highly recommend this part of Tasmania.
