Togo N1 Part 01: Lomé - Tsévié (2019)

Togo N1 Road from Lomé to Tsévié.
Footage date: August 29, 2019

In December 2019, I killed my previous channel (Keli K.) after being detained in the most humiliating ways for trying to make content to show my country. It's been three years now and I am still angry at the system. However during covid-19, checking news from around the globe made me realize that injustice is everywhere and isn't going to stop anytime soon. Some people are just evil. I have decided resuming posting videos about my country. I made great content that I believe will entertain and educate. Please enjoy!

Les habitants de la République togolaise célèbrent les cycles de vie et les saisons dans le cadre de leurs rituels. Certains des festivals incluent;

Part 1 | Togo is not just about Lome | Quick Tour of Atakpame, the city of 7 hills | The market

Atakpamé is the fifth largest city in Togo by population (84,979 inhabitants in 2006), located in the Plateaux Region of Togo. It is an industrial centre and lies on the main north-south highway, 161 km north of the capital Lomé. It is also a regional commercial centre for produce and cloth.
Atakpamé dates from the 19th century and was first settled by Ewe and Yoruba peoples. It developed as both a commercial centre on a major north-south caravan route and as a haven for refugees fleeing from Dahomean attacks. As a consequence, Atakpamé experienced numerous destructive assaults by the kingdom of Dahomey. It is the centre of an important cotton-growing area and trades in both cocoa and coffee.

4k Driving through the villages of Togo from Tsevie to Lome

Tsévié is a city and canton in the Maritime Region of Togo. It is situated 32 km north of the capital Lomé and at the 2010 Census had a population of 54,474. The city is inhabited primarily by Ewe people. It is the capital of the prefecture of Zio and the Maritime Region.

The town is an important market centre for trading and is noted for its palm oil processing. Tsévié has road and railway links with Notsé, Atakpamé, and Blitta to the north and with Lomé to the south. The inhabitants of the city used to worship idols, but now many follow Christianity. Their traditional celebration is Ayizan, in which they demonstrate their old traditions, but now use this celebration as a symbol for unity and peace. Tsevie is a developing city that attracts many tourists.

Welcome to Togo

For those fond of travelling off the beaten track, Togo is a rewarding destination. Its great diversity of landscapes ranges from lakes and palm-fringed beaches along the Atlantic coastline to the rolling forested hills in the centre; heading further north, the mantle of lush forest is replaced by the light-green and yellowy tinges of savannah. It's an excellent playground for hikers – there's no better ecofriendly way to experience the country's savage beauty than on foot.
Another highlight is Togo's melting-pot culture. The fortified compounds of Koutammakou are a reminder that the country's ethnically diverse population didn't always get along, but nowadays voodoo, Muslim, Christian and traditional festivals crowd the calendar and are often colourful celebrations for all.
The cherry on top is Lomé, the low-key yet elegant capital, with its large avenues, tasty restaurants and throbbing nightlife – not to mention the splendid beaches on its doorstep.
