I took ČD Fast train (Rychlík) Krakonoš connecting Prague and Trutnov in the Krkonoše mountains. This train still consists of locomotive and classic coaches in regular composition.

Leaving Bad Schandau and Germany we return to the Czech Republic. Travelling across the north of the country we explore three small towns before arriving in Teplice nad Metuji. Here we were able to walk amidst spectacular rock towers through clefts and caves that have been a popular tourist destination for the last two hundred years. Our first walk here was into the heart of the Teplicke Skaly. This immense rock labyrinth has attracted many famous visitors since the mid 1800s. We were staying at the entrance to the park. This meant we were able explore ahead of the crowds.

Trutnov (niem. Trautenau) - miasto powiatowe w północnych Czechach, w kraju hradeckim. Według danych z 31 grudnia 2003 powierzchnia miasta wynosiła 10 336 ha, a liczba jego mieszkańców 31 398 osób.
Trutnov leży na Wyżynie Trutnovskiej (Trutnovská pahorkatina), we wschodniej części Wyżyny Podkarkonoskiej (Podkrkonošská pahorkatina), która jest częścią Podgórza Karkonoskiego. Miasto, po włączeniu do niego kilku wsi, rozciąga się wzdłuż dolin rzecznych pomiędzy wzniesieniami Pogórza Karkonoskiego i Karkonoszy. Średnia wysokość nad poziomem morza wynosi 414 m.
Przez Trutnov przepływa rzeka Úpa, do której w dzielnicy Poříčí dopływa rzeka Lična.
