What to do in Parma Italy - Walking tour of Parma

What to do in Parma Italy - Today we will do a walking tour of the beautiful city of Parma in the Emilia Romagna region in Northern Italy. Parma is famous all over the world for some of its products like Prosciutto and Parmiggiano Reggiano cheese. But there is so much more to do in Parma Italy. The city is very pretty and with an aristocratic feeling. Unfortunately in this episodes we were not able to visit the museums of Parma Italy due to the pandemic. We hope you like this walking tour of Parma Italy, let us know in the comments below.

We are two Canadians currently living in Italy. We moved to Italy in November 2018 to start a new chapter of our life's and we would like to share our story with. We hope you enjoy it.

About us:
In March 2017, Rick and Andrea (confessed Travel Addicts) started a Facebook Group called Travel Addicts as a way to share their travel photos and videos not just with their own respective friend's lists – but with the world. Part of the reason was for bragging rights (I mean, that’s kind of the point of sharing photos, right?), but also to help answer questions to others about the destinations they have visited.

After inviting some of our friends and family, it grew and grew – and as of June 2019, the group has grown to over 200,000 members! One reason for our success, we believe, is that we have done our best to ensure only high-quality photos and videos get shared, all while limiting the use of commercial content.

Viaggio in Vespa - Chapter 6: Parma & Traversetolo

This video gives an impression of my time in Parma and Traversetolo. I reached my sixth destination of Viaggio in Vespa on August 31st.
Besides the Vespa Insieme (check out the video: I had the honour to go out for a dinner. Further on I drove into the mountains and visited the castle of Bardi. The landscapes there were just spectacular. The castle is nice and huge, but at some points a bit creepy too.

Italy: Trenitalia Class E464 electric loco departs from Alassio on a Torino to Ventimiglia service

Italy: A Trenitalia Class E464 electric loco (number E464 389) departs from Alassio on train RE3131, the 1425 from Torino Porta Nuova to -Ventimiglia. Clip recorded 29 March 2022.

Alassio is a town and comune in the province of Savona situated in the western coast of Liguria, Northern Italy, approximately 80 kilometres (50 miles) from the French border.

Alassio is known for its natural and scenic views. The town centre is crossed by a pedestrianised cobbled road known as the Budello.

The town has sandy beaches, blue sea and many bars and restaurants on the sea front. Alassio has also a pier known as Molo di Alassio or Pontile Bestoso which offers views of the town. The town is famous for its Muretto di Alassio, a wall with signatures onto coloured ceramic tiles.

Alassio is situated on the Riviera di Ponente coast, and it has a small tourist port (porticciolo) named Luca Ferrari. It was also known as a health resort in winter and a bathing place in summer, and has many hotels.
-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
Trenitalia is the primary train operator in Italy. A subsidiary of Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane, itself owned by the Italian government, it was established in 2000 following a European Union directive on the deregulation of rail transport.

Trenitalia offers national rail transport in Italy and international connections to Austria, France, Germany, and Switzerland. The company operates both regional and long-distance trains.

Regional trains travel within an Italian region or between neighboring Italian regions, and are subsidized by local government at the regional level by Contratto di servizio. Regional trains stop at more stations than other long-distance trains, and some stop at all stations. Regionale veloce (fast regional train) are trains stopping at about half of stations.

Long-distance trains are of mainly of two types: the Frecce (arrows) and Intercity trains.
Intercity trains also serve medium-sized cities besides the big cities, thus are generally slower but are cheaper than the Frecce.
Night trains (Intercity night) operate mainly between north and south of Italy and between Italy and its neighbouring countries and are comparable to Intercity level.
-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
The E.464 is a class of Italian railways electric locomotives. They were introduced in the course of the 1990s for hauling light trains, especially for commuter service. They were acquired by FS Trenitalia to replace the old E.424 and E.646, dating from the 1940s and 1950s.

Cost per unit is 2.6 million Euro. With 717 locomotives currently in service (as of December 2015) the E.464 is the largest class in use by Trenitalia, and also the most numerous Italian locomotive class ever in service.

The E.464 derives from a project launched by the Italian Ferrovie dello Stato in the 1980s for a modular class of locos which would be easily adapted to commuter, inter-regional and cargo services. Initially, types with 4-axle (Bo-Bo, E.453/E.454) and 6-axle (Bo-Bo-Bo, E.665/E.666) were devised, the latter for cargo services. However, the E.666 class was cancelled due to availability of the new E.652 Tigre class, capable of hauling massive cargo trains. Moreover, the new inverter technology was developed in those years, and the E.454 became suddenly obsolete.

In 1994 FS requested ABB to design a new class which, to save money, was to be based on already built prototypes and using parts from the new E.412 from the same producer. The first batch of 50 E.464 was issued to the Lazio regional government in 1999-2000, and proved immediately successful. Further orders for 90, 100 and 48 units followed in 2001-2005, plus another 100 in 2006-2007, another 100 in 2009, another 50 in 2011, and, finally, another order of 29 locomotives on November 2013: a total of 717 locomotives, and an investment of over one billion Euro.

After years of regional use, the 29th of August 2019 the first two units from a group of 70 were used to haul a long-distance Intercity train between Messina and Siracusa, in Sicily. Sicily is the first italian region to get E464 for long-distances train, because in this region this locomotives have to replace the older ones of E656’s class, but in the future E464 will be used to haul Intercity Night trains all around the country, because of their ability to reduce operating costs, thanks to the permanent use of 2 units together.

A Parma Ettore Sottsass.
Fino all’8 aprile.
A Reggio Emilia Kandinskij→Cage
A Bologna “Party of Life” 60 opere di Keith Haring e The Wall exhibition
