Topes de Collantes is one of the few tourist centers in the Escambray Mountains. Topes de Collantes, which is both the name of the natural reserva and the tourist village here, is one of the best places to enjoy the Cuba's natural beauty that the island has to offer.

Como es Cuba? Es una Isla única? Pues en la aventura de hoy no encontramos en Trinidad, Cuba. Vamos a ir a ver el pasaje natural y los parques de Topes de Collantes. Donde vamos a poder apreciar la naturaleza que ofrece Cuba, meternos en cuevas, nadar en piscinas naturales junto a una cascada y comer una rica comida cubana. Espero que disfruten de este video tanto como yo disfrute de estar en este lugar rodeado de la hermosa naturaleza. Ademas pueden ver como fui desde Trinidad a Topes de Collates en un camión ruso con motor chino, mas comunista el camión no podía ser jaja. Pues la mejor opción y mas económica de subir al parque era a través de una agencia de turismo Gaviota el cual costaba unos $47 por persona e incluía todo lo que verán en el video. La otra manera eran mas caras, que fuera un taxi privado que hubiera sido $50 por solo el viaje al parque no incluía mas nada por cual creo que la opción turística fue la mas económica y la que mas me atrajo.

Desde Trinidad partimos en busca de un poco de aventura hacia el Parque Natural #Topedecollantes donde nos encontramos con un sendero que nos llevó a el #Saltodelcaburní. Una cascada en el medio de la nada que en el día que fuimos tenía poca agua. Se recomienda ir en época de lluvia para aprovechar más su belleza. A la vuelta, la visita obligada fue a playa #Ancón y cerramos el día en la discoteca Las cuevas. Una muy original discoteca que como su nombre lo dice, se ubica dentro de cuevas.

In the morning we did an 8km walk from the coffee shop in Topes de Collantes to Hacienda Codina, stopping at the the cave at La Batata. Our short afternoon walk passed through the cave, La Cueva del Altar.
Cuba day4: Trinidad to Topes de Collantes
After leaving Trinidad, we transferred to an old Russian military truck for the drive up to the Topes de Collantes Park in the Escambray Mountains. We did an 8km trek to Hacienda Gallega, and after lunch did a further 5km circular walk to the Salto de Rocio waterfall and swam in the river. We spent the night in tents.

Os preços aqui, se não for para os locais para o turista endinheirado, são semelhantes aos praticados em Portugal. E se quiser procurar os locais frequentados pelos cubanos, pode encontrar preços muito mais baratos.
Por exemplo, uma refeição custa entre 4 e 10 euros, um quarto de casal custa entre 12 e 20 euros, um táxi vale 16 euros por hora.
Sugerimos que leve alguns euros como segurança e que poderá cambiar localmente para CUC. Também poderá levantar dinheiro nas ATM que existem nas cidades, mas claro que dessa forma estará a pagar taxas bancárias.
Se quiser alugar carro, qualquer empresa deverá servir, uma vez que todas dependem do governo. As estradas estão mal sinalizadas e a utilização de GPS ainda é “tecnicamente proibida” e o equipamento pode ser confiscado na alfandega. Claro que ninguém lhe vai confiscar o telemóvel, tenha ou não GPS. Recomendamos que instale a aplicação maps.me, uma vez que é gratuita e pode descarregar mapas quando tiver acesso internet e depois, trabalha off-line. A cartografia tem bom detalhe e a aplicação faz rotas diferenciadas, consoante esteja de carro ou a caminhar.

Topes de Collantes
Topes de Collantes es un pueblo de montaña situado en el Parque Nacional Cordillera del Escambray. Pertenece al Municipio de Trinidad y es su mayor exponente en el Turismo de naturaleza y ecológico. Está a 800 metros sobre el nivel del mar por lo que destacan sus frescas temperaturas durante todo el año. A solo 18 km de Trinidad acoge a varias cascadas famosas entre ellas Caburní, Guanayara, Nengoa, Vega Grande. Topes de Collantes expone una gran variedad de especies tanto de flora como de fauna, es un ecosistema muy bien protegido y monumento nacional.

Hike El Cubano Park, Trinidad, Cuba, Episode 153
We started the next leg of our trip with a ride to Trinidad. Two options, local truck or tourist bus. Once in Trinidad we scouted the beaches and restaurants before heading out for a hike in the El Cubano National Park. The beach had beautiful scenery but ultimately, so did this little park full of swimming holes. Green water, waterfalls, caves, walking paths and naturally a restaurant for the tourists. 153 Hiking Park El Cubano, National Park Topes de Collantes Video Details
We start the next leg of the trip with a bus ride to Trinidad. Our goal was hiking Park El Cubano, within National Park Topes de Collantes.
Option To Trinidad #1. The cheapest.
Option To Trinidad #2. More Comfortable and pricey.
We chose option #2.
We did homestay in Cuba and Trinidad was no exception, $25 a night, breakfast included.
But before going hiking, Cristina wanted to visit the local beach.
The beach was beautiful, as was the scenery. The Beach service includes mojitos naturally.
The street food options were also pretty good. But the restaurants NOT listed in the Lonely Planet were the best.
It was finally time for a day hike in Park El Cubano. El Cubano park is within the National Park Topes de Collantes. A park, within a park.
We chose a local horse taxi for $2 and were dropped about 5 miles before the park entrance, which made Cristina impatient for a swim. Most people pick a taxi with a specified return pickup since there is no public transport at the entrance. There are lots of charter services though.
We found many spots available to swim along the trail.
Salto de Javira was our best choice. Entrance fee, 9 CUC or 9 dollars.
Now that’s a swimming hole worth 9 dollars.
We hitched a ride back with a couple that had pre-arranged for a taxi pickup.
