HELLO FROM COUNTRY #172 - ERITREA!

I'm thrilled to be back in Africa where I will spend the remaining 3 months of the year! Many of you probably haven’t heard of Eritrea before and that’s because it’s a relatively new country and it’s notoriously difficult to enter (top 5 in the world). After 48 hours of roaming around the capital of Asmara and the ancient port city of Massawa, I’ve really enjoyed my time here.

I’m getting flashbacks to when I was in Ethiopia, yet also touches of Yemen Somaliland and Italy. Yes - ITALY! Eritrea is a former Italian colony and their influence is remarkably well-preserved in the form of giant cathedrals, pizza parlors, gelato shops, old Italian cars, appertivos and many people can still speak fluent Italiano.

The capital of Asmara is VERY safe, with kind-hearted people and surprisingly the weather is cold here (2,400 meters high). Unfortunately due to WiFi issues, I haven't been able to upload anything until now, but there’s no hurry because life is wonderful here! More to come soon ????????

Why I Really Don't Like This Country ????????

UPDATE: I WENT BACK TO BRUNEI TO GIVE IT A 2ND CHANCE!

While I constantly try to find the positives in every place I visit, there are a few nations that I just simply didn't enjoy.

The country of BRUNEI is one of them.

I went to Brunei back in 2014, three years before I made videos, but my negative experiences in the country have stuck in my mind ever since. That, combined with its absurd human rights laws such as stoning to death LGBT members, I felt like this video needed to be shared with the world.

Have you ever visited any countries that you didn't enjoy? Please share below, I'm curious to know.

The past few days in Antananarivo, Madagascar have been overwhelming, intense and eye-opening. And I apologize for the delays in posting these videos -- it's been nearly impossible to find decent enough wifi.

Madagascar, as a whole, is a beautiful tropical island with stunning greenery, giant baobab trees and unique wildlife (like lemurs!). It's also massive -- about twice the size of my home state of Arizona -- floating 250 miles off the southeastern part of mainland Africa.

But putting the natural beauty aside, Madagascar is one of the World's poorest countries, with the 5th lowest GDP per capita. Walking on the streets of Antananarivo, I couldn't help but observe and analyze what I was seeing --- people just barely managing to survive, working labor-intensive jobs with very little pay.

My new local friends and I took a mini road trip to some outer villages, where I learned about the daily life of people working in the markets. Here's what I discovered.

If there's any takeaway from today (and through travel in general) -- it is to appreciate the life I live. If you are reading this as well, consider yourself lucky because you have internet, which most of the people in Madagascar cannot afford.

Capital of Benin

Porto-Novo is a port city and the capital of Benin, in West Africa. It’s known for colonial buildings like the Brazilian-style Great Mosque, formerly a church. The Ethnographic Museum displays ceremonial masks, musical instruments, and costumes.

The Musée da Silva recounts Benin’s history and celebrates Afro-Brazilian culture. Just east, the Honmé Museum was King Toffa’s 19th-century royal palace.

Many people think that Fiji is so expensive (and it certainly can be)... but if you live like a local, then I find it to be cheaper than anywhere else in the Pacific.

This Country Has 79 Years Left to Live

Climate change never felt more real to my eyes until I arrived here in KIRIBATI - a small island nation in the Central Pacific Ocean.

The rising sea levels are quickly shrinking this country, which has a peak altitude of 3 meters. It's projected to be entirely underwater by the year 2100.

While many countries are feeling the impacts of climate change, nobody is more threatened right now than the 100,000+ residents of Kiribati.

The question now becomes, how do we prevent the people here from becoming climate refugees? The only 4 options I can think of are the following:

1. Build a higher sea wall (which will cost billions of USD)
2. Buy land overseas for them to relocate (will also cost a fortune)
3. Send more Kiribati citizens abroad (i.e. Australia and New Zealand) for jobs, and they can slowly adapt to a new life
4. Boost tourism in Kiribati so people can see firsthand the effects of climate change, which will also pump money back into the economy

Would love to get your thoughts on what we can do to help the wonderful people of Kiribati. I encourage you all to get creative and share your best solutions below. I will be reading and responding to as many comments as I can, and I encourage you to do the same. This is important.

Indian Village With 90% Israeli's | Mini Israel In India #israel #himachalpradesh #dharamkot

Dharamkot, a picturesque village nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, has earned the nickname Mini Israel in India due to its overwhelming Israeli presence. With a staggering 90% of its population comprising Israeli nationals, Dharamkot is a unique cultural hub where Hebrew is often spoken as commonly as Hindi or English.

Visitors to this charming hamlet can experience a fascinating blend of Indian and Israeli cultures, with traditional Indian markets and restaurants serving up authentic Israeli cuisine. The village is also a popular destination for Israeli backpackers, yoga enthusiasts, and adventure seekers, offering a vibrant nightlife scene and easy access to scenic hiking trails.

Despite its small size, Dharamkot has become a hub for cross-cultural exchange, with Israelis and Indians living and working side-by-side in harmony. For those seeking an off-the-beaten-path travel experience, Dharamkot's Mini Israel is a must-visit destination that offers a truly unique perspective on the intersection of cultures in the heart of India's stunning Himalayan region.

One of the most fascinating aspects of Dharamkot's Mini Israel is the way in which it has developed as a result of the Israeli backpacker scene. Many Israelis travel to India for extended periods of time after completing their military service, and Dharamkot has become a popular destination for this group due to its relaxed atmosphere, stunning natural beauty, and welcoming community.

Over time, Israeli entrepreneurs have opened up shops, restaurants, and guesthouses in Dharamkot, and the village now boasts a thriving Israeli expat community. Visitors can explore the Israeli-style cafes, shops selling handmade Israeli crafts, and even take part in Hebrew-language classes and cultural events.

Despite its strong Israeli identity, Dharamkot has also retained its Indian character, with local residents welcoming Israeli visitors with open arms and a genuine curiosity about their culture. This blend of cultures has created a truly unique atmosphere, with a relaxed and bohemian vibe that attracts travelers from all over the world.

Whether you're looking to practice yoga, indulge in delicious food, explore the stunning natural surroundings, or simply soak up the vibrant energy of this one-of-a-kind destination, Dharamkot's Mini Israel is a must-visit location for any traveler seeking an unforgettable adventure in India.
