This is one of the easiest hiking trails in Negros that offers breathtaking views for adrenaline junkies.
Also a popular mountain destination in Negros Occidental especially for beginners as this is just a walk in the park type of trail.
HOW TO GET THERE:
-At the South Bus Terminal Bacolod, take a bus bound for San Carlos City via Don Salvador Benedicto and tell the driver to drop you off at Sitio Punod. Fare is 170 Php. Travel time is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.
-From Sitio Punod, take a habal habal going to Sitio Mayana where your local guide awaits. Fare is 150-200 Php per person for roundtrip. Guide fee is 300 Php and entrance fee is 50 Php per person.

Exploring Escalante City Negros Occidental
Escalante City, which is mainly consist of sugarcane farms and lowland hills with a little urban area, has a total land of 192.76 km2 (74.43 sq mi).
The city is located in the northeastern part of Negros Occidental Province in Western Visayas Region. It is bounded on the north and west by Sagay City, on the east by the Visayan Sea and on the south by the town of Taboso. Escalante can reached by air via Bacolod-Silay International Airport or by sea. It has a total land area of 192.7 square kilometers and is composed of 21 barangays
Local products of Escalante City is mainly sugar cane. These harvested sugar canes are transferred to the nearest sugar plantations to extract the sugar from it. Sugars are also shipped to the provinces and cities in the country. There are also rice and corn products in the city.
The city offers opportunities in food processing especially sugar-based foods, meat and fish processing. The manufacture of furniture, clothing and fashion accessories, jewelry, personal care and other consumer goods are encouraged. The establishment of commercial complexes and tourist facilities are welcomed in this city.

This video is all about the beautiful country that is the province of Negros Occidental Philippines.
Adventures of Gerald and Rhia honors and pays reverence and tribute to this great province. We are staying true to our love for travel as main inspirations that led to the creation our channel that aims to explore and document life's wonders.
Negros Island was originally called “Buglas”, an old native word that is thought to mean “cut-off.”
It is believed that Negros was once part of a greater mass of land but was cut off either by what geologists all a continental drift or by rising waters during the so-called glacial age. Among its earliest inhabitants were dark-skinned natives belonging to the Negrito ethnic group with their unique culture. Thus, the Spaniards called the land “Negros” after the black natives whom they saw when they first came to the island in April 1565. Two of the earliest native settlements were Binalbagan and Ilog, that later became towns in 1573 and 1584, respectively. Other settlements were Hinigaran, Bago, Marayo (now Pontevedra), Mamalan (now Himamaylan) and Candaguit (now a sitio in San Enrique).
After appointing encomenderos in the island, Miguel Lopez de Legaspi placed Negros under the jurisdiction of the governor of Oton in Panay. In 1734, however, the island became a military district and Ilog was made its first capital. The seat of government was later transferred to Himamaylan and thereafter Bacolod became the capital in 1849.
The island remained a military district up to about the middle of the 19th century. Then in 1865, Negros Occidental was raised to the category of a politico-military province. During this time, several more towns were established like San Carlos and Calatrava.
Religious orders evangelized the province by turns: the Augustinians, Recollects, Jesuits, Dominicans, Seculars and again, the Recollects returning in the 1800s.
Negros Occidental is located in the western side of Negros Island, the fourth largest island in the Philippines with a total land area of 792,607 hectares or 7,926.06 sq. kms.
The province is approximately 375 kilometers long from north to south. It is bounded by the Visayan Sea in the north, Panay Gulf on the west, Tanon Strait and Negros Oriental province on the east and Sulu Sea on the south. Negros is basically volcanic, making its soil ideal for agriculture. Eighty percent of all arable land is cultivated.
