10 Best place to visit in Tobi Village Palau

Exploring the Big Island of Palau with a local!

We had the opportunity to explore Babelthuap/Babeldaob/Baberudaobu To/Arrecifos (the big island of Palau) with a local guide! It was awesome! It involved new fruits, visiting popular (and not so popular) landmarks, getting a fresh coconut and laughing a lot. At first we looked into renting a car, we weren't sure how well a big tour would go. However, with Fish 'n' Fins, even if only two people signed up for a tour, they will do it! SO we basically got a private tour but only paid for a group.

It wouldn't have been what it was without the man himself - Quincy! He was awesome. Outgoing, intelligent and just fun.

We had many off camera conversations revolving around his love for his home country and the struggles it has.

We had an awesome time and felt like it really rounded out our time in Palau well.

Thank you for having us Palau!

__________
About Us

We met in college and started a five year journey to graduate, get jobs, pay off student loans and save money to travel. After getting married we bought a one way ticket to Greece in July of 2021 and have been traveling around the Globe since. Living abroad definitely brings some unique experiences.

These laidback Youtube videos will be our way of keeping in touch with family and friends as we explore different countries, try new and strange foods (and of course pizza), and see how many times we can avoid airplane fares. These homevideos will be the only souvenir we end up with at the end (only because nothing else will fit in our bags).

Thanks for watching!

Day in the Life of a Japanese Wagyu Beef Farmer

A day in the life of a Japanese Wagyu Beef Farmer AKA Japanese wagyu cattle farmer. This video helps explain what is wagyu beef and how it is made in Japan, specifically Miyazaki Beef 宮崎牛 a premium Wagyu. We follow, Ryuji, who runs a Japanese wagyu cattle farm in Miyazaki. As mentioned in the video, if you want to help support the farm check out

This is Ryuji's typical day a day a wagyu farmer from morning until evening. We even visit a Japanese Wagyu Cattle auction during his day and see him sell 3 of of his Japanese kuroge black haired cows. Ryuji raises Miyazaki Gyu, Gyu meaning beef, from Japanese Black Haired cattle, a brand of Wagyu. Wagyu literally translated means Japanese Beef, but all beef raised in Japan domestically is not considered Wagyu. Wagyu is a premium grade beef in Japan and refers specifically to four breeds of cattle - Black hair, Brown hair, Polled and Shorthorn raised and bred in Japan with the strictest guidelines and requirements ultimately producing a high-end quality Japanese beef known worldwide for it’s beautiful marbling and deep umami flavor.

In fact, Japan has over 200 premium Wagyu brands throughout the country each with its own unique methods to raise it’s cattle, The Kobe Beef brand, is probably the most known overseas because it was the first wagyu brand promoted internationally due it being located at one Japan’s largest port cities. Ryuji’s Miyazaki Beef brand, specifically produces the highest grade of Wagyu possible, A4 and A5 quality, which is one of the reasons why Miyazaki Beef is one of the leading wagyu brands in Japan

Palau - Visiting Helen Reef Conservation Area

Helen Reef is an atoll located about 330 mi south of its mother country, Palau in the western Pacific, and about 220 mi north of Sorong, Indonesia.
It consists of a ringing reef with lagoon, a major deep-water pass, and on the north side, one tiny island of sand and a few trees. All of Helen Reef is a protected conservation area rich in marine life, in and out of the water.
We were lucky to have a chance to visit this isolated area while on route to Palau from Indonesia. Some technical issues, and a forecast for bad weather coming prompted us to stop here. The friendly rangers greeted us after we were safely tied to the conservation area’s mooring. We visited the rustic ranger station on the tiny sand spit of an island. We found them pretty self-sufficient, and resourceful. The island is a bird sanctuary and a nesting ground for hundreds and hundreds of birds squawking day and nite. The rangers tape off the area at the beginning of laying, but later, visitors can walk the length of the island and marvel in the sheer numbers and the beauty of their graceful flight.
During our visit, the Rangers, Louis, Jamos and Matthew, showed us a number of their duties for the Conservation area, and they took us to a number of important sites on the reef. Every day they check-in with the main office in Palau, and file a report. They patrol Illegal fishing activity on the reef, greet visitors, monitor the bird nesting, turtle egg laying, and the Giant Clam farm. They maintain the navigation and mooring buoys as well.
We were able to scuba dive at 3 sites, and record some of the rich marine life of the reef. At the old Japanese cargo shipwreck, only anchors and a few shards of pottery are left, but the reef is pretty with several white-tip lagoon sharks cruising the dramatic drop-off. One dive in the inner lagoon on one of the branches of the pass had the most gigantic lettuce leaf coral formation we’d ever seen. The dive in the Pass was action-packed; we were spinning our necks in every direction, not knowing what to look at next! All the sharks, schools of jacks, rainbow runners, barracudas, the giant grouper, turtle, and the rare and beautiful manta ray, were all seen during one dive!
Visiting the Giant Clam farm was inspiring, we’ve visited other Giant Clam farms, but they are usually instituted after the population has been depleted; at Helen Reef, they are everywhere in every size and every incredible color, and we saw them all over the reef system, not just in the farm area. We were happy to see this easily exploited mollusk protected and allowed to grow to its normal gigantic size.
We thank Jamos and his wife, Samdrina, Louis, and Matthew, the staff who manned the Helen Reef Ranger Station while we were there, for their wonderful hospitality, and for taking us around the reef, and for the fun filming sessions. Filmed in November 2014.

My First Impressions of Brunei ???????? (A Misunderstood Country?)

Code: JackTorr
Link: - Get the rest you need with a Manta Sleep Mask!
Hey everyone! Welcome to our latest video where we take you on an exciting/scary trip to Brunei. This place has been in the news a lot, and we wanted to see what it's really like beyond what everyone talks about. So, we kicked off our adventure wanting to dive into the real Brunei - from its strict laws to its incredible wealth. It's a country that's caught between its rich traditions and some pretty tough rules. But what really blew us away was how friendly and welcoming the people are.

We got to check out the Sultan's massive palace, which is just mind-blowing with all its luxury. But it's not all about the glitz here; we also saw how the country takes care of its people, with free schooling and healthcare, which is pretty awesome. Our journey took us through bustling markets where everything's super cheap, beautiful mosques covered in gold, and even into the lives of the locals who invited us to share a meal with them. It was these moments that really made our trip special.

We also got a peek into the less flashy side of Brunei, visiting a water village and seeing how people live in houses on stilts right over the water. It felt like stepping into a whole different world. This video is all about showing you the real Brunei - from the fancy bits to the simple, everyday life of its people. We're here to share our experiences, the cool places we've seen, the delicious food we've tried, and the amazing people we've met along the way.

So, come along with us as we explore Brunei, see its sights, taste its food, and meet some of the kindest people. It's been an eye-opening trip for us, and we can't wait to share all our stories with you. Thanks for watching, and don't forget to hit that subscribe button for more adventures around the world. Let's keep it real and explore together!

Fiji: the islands of a thousand charms I WIDE

Fiji consists of more than 300 islands scattered in the South Pacific. Over a hundred of them are uninhabited.
In Fiji, everyone can find an island that suits them, as all kinds of tourism are represented here. People can either befriend underwater companions such as dolphins or sharks, relax in heaven-like resorts or retrace the steps of Robinson Crusoe.
But what best defines Fiji is the warm welcome of its inhabitants. Here, the « Bula ! », the local « hello ! » is always spontaneous.

Visiting the ABANDONED IRONWORKS (Völklinger Hütte) ???? + Saarbrücken City Tour in SAARLAND, GERMANY

Welcome to Saarland, Germany! In this video, we'll be touring Saarbrücken, the capital of the state of Saarland, plus we'll visit the old ironworks in the neighbouring town of Völklingen.

We'll start off the morning in Saarbrücken, where we'll take you out for brunch at a local restaurant, we'll wander through the farmer's market, we'll visit the Castle Church and its impressive gardens, plus we'll stop at a few other spots along the way. You may not get the sense that this was once a major industrial area, but that'll change with our next attraction.

In the afternoon, we'll venture over to the Völklingen Ironworks. This is hands down one of the most unusual places we’ve visited on our travels. This massive complex covers 6 hectares and was the site of pig iron production (also known as crude iron) from 1882 through 1986.

When the ironworks shut down in 1986, a great debate followed: tear down the places or turn it into something? Our guide explained that many of the former workers wanted this place gone because it was a reminder of the jobs they’d lost and the tough times that followed.

However, the Völklingen Ironworks managed to survive and today it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site. My favourite part was ‘Paradise’, a section of the ironworks that has been taken over by nature.

Places we visited in Saarland, Germany

00:51 - Welcome to Saarbrücken
01:40 - Breakfast at Gemmels Töchter
03:54 - Sankt-Johanner-Markt
04:32 - Saarbrücken Castle Church

09:37 - Lunch at Kostbar
10:21 - Völklingen Ironworks
16:48 - Saarschleifen Lodge and Treetop Walk
18:44 - Dinner at Hilde & Heinz

Disclosure: We visited Saarland in partnership with the German National Tourist Board.
