La côte est de la République dominicaine peut se comparer à une sorte de Disneyland balnéaire, avec ses extravagants hôtels-clubs qui monopolisent de larges étendues de plage idyllique. On dénombre plus de 40 000 chambres d’hôtel (bien d’autres sont en construction) entre Punta Cana et El Macao, le long d’un littoral ourlé de plages au fin sable blanc et baigné d’une mer chaude couleur aigue-marine. Malgré l’urbanisation excessive du secteur, les complexes hôteliers réussissent à offrir à une foule permanente de vacanciers un cadre caribéen paradisiaque. Les aménagements ne se limitent pas aux hôtels-clubs et aux copropriétés. Récemment, la municipalité a rénové ou asphalté toutes les routes principales et ajouté des trottoirs.
Station balnéaire la plus connue de cette portion de côte et pointe orientale du pays, Punta Cana (Pointe aux Cheveux blancs) désigne la région tout entière. Cependant, la plupart des complexes sont disséminés autour des plages de Bávaro, qui se résume à une série de petits centres commerciaux, et d’El Cortecito, une courte rangée de boutiques le long d’une “plage de ville”’. Punta Cana abrite l’aéroport et certains de luxueux hôtels-clubs et parcours de golf.
Pas vraiment un reportage, ou un documentaire, c'est juste la vie, dans la vraie vie, directe, mes impressions, illusions, surprises, pas d'effets spéciaux et pas de copie dramatique.
